I just got back from evading park rangers, AMA.

>be in forest with battle buddy
>light small fire
>boil water

>grab billy can off fire
>use water to extingush fire
>kick fire into the mud
>burn finger on hot billy can
>go to creek and douse the fire more
>pick up charred firewood and toss into creek
>toss billy can into thicket
>run up hill trail with battle buddy
>hunker down and see rangers and fireman coming up trail

>run up hill and onto a game trail with battle buddy
>find a creek and run up the creek bed then up to a high knob with heavy cover
>catch breath with battle buddy on alert
>reflect on a moment of sheer autismo that triggered a flight reflex
>realise I left pack and hatchet at the fire location
>backtrack to see if anybody followed me
>battle buddy reading the sitch like a book and staying when told and stalking up slowly
>take loop back to park entrance
>walk past park rangers who have my pack on the hood of their truck
>go to my car and put battle buddy away
>start car
>rangers occupied with something in rear of their truck
>walk to their truck
>grab my bag
>walk back to my car casually
>feels like holes are being burned into my back but dont turn around to look
>get in car and drive below speed limit out of park
>never looked back
>loss of billy can and axe weighs heavily
