What shoes does /k/ recommend if I don't want to look like an autistic ex-mil who still wears his issued boots? Comfy for every day wear, /fa/ acceptable and acceptable for maximum operating?
>>
>>33569438
Operators don't wear military boots nigga. They wear dad-looking hiking boots. Try Salomon.
>>
>>33569438
Hiking shoes, m8. As for good-looking, it depends on your standards. I personally don't think any shoes worth operating in look fashionable.

Anyway, Merrel Moabs are pretty comfy, lots of people like them.
>>
>>33569438
if you're in an urban area, try high top basketball shoes. Ones with a good heel and don't come in dopey colors
>>
>>33569438
black or gray chucks and duct tape

Your arches are begging for death

insoles mah dude

Adidas Sambas.
>good construction
>cheap enough to replace if they get fucked up
>comfy
>urban/terrorwave aesthetic

No, go Gazelles for that spetsnaz look
>>
>>33569916
Second for this, especially since they drain water on their own.
>>
>>33569438
for urban shit i would say some converse all stars..decently rugged, dry out quick and can be easily repaired or modified.
>>
no shoes, just a pair of Tacticool Socks. Enemy's will never hear you coming.....

Vans Authentics

This. Real operators just use durable and utilitarian commonly available things, not some custom flashy high speed low drag shit.
>>
>>33569438
Man up and wear cowboy boots
>>
>>33571303
Cowboy boots are optimized for riding, not for sprinting and climbing in varied terrain. You wouldn't use a screwdriver to hammer in nails, would you?

look at skechers mariner style

they have shoes & low boots with treads and medium strong solid soles
>>
Buy a pair of Clarks for your everyday operating.

Have a pair of Salomons or Merells for your advanced notification operating.
>>
>>33571260
So flip-flops?
>>
real operators prefer plain black Chuck Taylors
>>
>>33572705
Old school operators like chucks. Foot wear has come a long way since the 70s. Get a pair of trail shoes/boots.

Maybe something with goretex if you live in a snowy hell hole.
>>
Jungles with tank treads.

Presumably you don't need knobby tread hiking boots because you're in an urban environment and don't want peopling mocking your combat boots. Real talk, get a pair of walking shoes and good socks. Something that can be laced up snug and will support your gear's weight. I have a pair of SAS Men's Guardian. Looks like something police or a nurse would wear on duty. Unassuming, featureless, comfortable, could take on a city hike. Biggest drawback is ankle support does not compare to combat boots, so don't take them on a ruck march.

I also have pic related for just stepping out to the corner store or other errands.

I have to say, I've been incredibly surprised by Sketcher boots, especially their For Work line.

I bought them on a lark because cheap and "lol Sketchers makes boots?" Lo and behold, they're tough as shit and comfy. The entire For Work line is.

If you want to operate in an environment, thats not a dessert or extreme cold, go with these:
http://www.hanwag.com/alaska-gtxr
theres also a better insulated version
that one works up to mild winter temperatures.
best shoes out there based on my experience (mountain trekking and military) only drawback is that you have to clean them and rub wax into them after they got wet or dirty. Real dirty, not I wore them on the range and drove there dirty. but also from time to time, so the leather doesnt dry out.
>>
>>33569448
I love my Solomon hiking shoes.

I bought a pair of these guys and wear them with khakis to work (gunstore collegefag), wear them to the ranch on my two days off per week for fence work, hog hunting, and private range time. They're comfy as shit and do well in somewhat rugged Texas hill country terrain. My big complaint with them is the laces kind of suck but that's it. Slowly convincing my black friend that I shoot with to get a pair now that he lives on the ranch and his "work shoes" are old high top Jordans.

Picked up some danners last winter, makes operating inna snow comfy
