I know, it is beyond frustrating, and I can't quite figure out why. It'll push the bolt back a bit, but I guess the pressure isn't sufficient even when the gas plug is closed, so it slams the steel case back into the chamber, and it takes some serious muscle to pull the bolt carrier back again to get it out of the chamber. Haven't tested brass cased yet, but I got some Prvi and that scrubbed MEN stuff from sgammo, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed

The bayonet isn't sharp enough to cut, and soldiers tend to wear gloves anyways. The bayonet is just a design that made sense in the 40's when it was developed (consider that the Russian bayonets literally had to be hammered on, in the case of the Mosin Nagant)

Years ago I had a Model-D as my 'bike gun' that used to just strap over the handlebars on a rack, it wasn't a spectacular gun, but it just worked, took a heck of a beating and got used in all sorts of god awful weather as I worked around the farm. Pigs, bunnies, the odd feral cat and roo's got stitched up by it- never malfunctioned, probably not cleaned enough, wasn't real accurate (past about 120-150m) and it was so fucking cheap.
Literally $240 got the gun, 500rds, 3 spare mags. Absolute bargain at the time.

They aren't entirely terrible, but they do have a short sight radius. That does make for quite a good, fast acquiring blaster under 100m, but after that they're just a little bit awkward. Plus way back when there wasn't really a lot of support for them in terms of aftermarket sights or scope mounts that could easily be found, so just lived with it and played to the guns advantages. Plenty of stuff out for them now, so a half decent scope on a 20" barrel version will probably get you a decent set of MOA's into the 200m range I reckon.

Running shithouse ammo through them also doesn't do them any favours, but I never bothered finding any good stuff to feed it.

I've seen lots of AR's with stoppages and issues at the range, stock SKS rifles, not so much (though every bubba I've seen with tapco has jams) so I'll take personal experience over a pseudo-scientific mudtest. I'm not going to be rolling around in the mud. What I'm more interested in is a gun that can go long periods without cleaning/lubrication and still be reliable (hint, not the AR15).

If you luck out with an accurate one, 1-2 MOA isn't unheard of, though aftermarket sights like Techsights or a scope is practically a must if you're being serious about testing for accuracy.
You can expect about 4 MOA from a stock SKS, and be pleasantly surprised if it's better than that.

You don't know the first thing about this gun. It's a fucking helluva gun, but it's a real gun, a heavy gun, a gun that a man uses, and k is full of children, little children, children who need the newest toys, the american toys, the toys their friends have.

It's too "innacurate" for these children, it "can't pass stupid mud tests". They spend $700 to put together a generic AR variant, they put the cheapest pieces on it, they spend $1300 to trick their shitty AR out, to make it look like a real rifle, to make it look like it's something worth having. To them, the bells and whistles are the gun, the gun is not the gun.
