What is the most efficient way to sight in a scope without any sort of quality rest, lead sled, boresighter, etc?
>>
use a range card

Sandbags.

I don't get it

attach scope to receiver, put receiver plus barrel on a bag, look inside the barrel without touching it, adjust sight to whatever you saw in the barrel.
Assemble weapon back. Fire weapon, measure difference between point of impact and point of aim, adjust sight accordingly with a little calculus.
>>
>>33555439
This but also remember to remove the bolt and look through the barrel to aim it at your target, then do a quick and dirty zero on the scope before you start firing. It's like using a boresighter if you don't have one
>>
>>33555474
If my gun prints left of a target say 3 inches and high say 4 inches to I adjust the scope to go left or right and then down or up?

Do I adjust as if I'm trying to meet where the bullet impacted or do I adjust from where it impacted to where I want to be?

>>33555439
>>33555475
I also do not have sandbags but I guess anything could work
>>
>>33555504
Get a walmart bag, preferably double or trippled up. Fill with sand to that prime firmness like an 18 year old's tit. There you go.
>>
>>33555670
Ok but I prefer 9 year olds and dfc
>>
>>33555504
if it's a scope high chances you have to move the reticle on the point of impact. this is difficult to do without moving the gun. This is why you should do it by measuring the distance between point of aim and point of impact and compute how many clicks you want.
The indications on the turrets really depend on your scope. Might be move point of aim (in your case move it to the left and up) or point of impact (move it to the right and down)
Adjust one axle at the time.

>>33555670
kek.
>>
>>33555420
Remove the bolt and look down the barrel so it is on the black, then place crosshairs on the black.

replace bolt and shoot in to zero.

I have zerod rifles at 100M by doing this at 10M and then just using a ballistic chart to get the clicks. Was bang on.
>>
>>33555693
How will I know what adjustment my scope is?

It is a Burris 332

Just trial and error? What distance should I start at and finish at?
>>
>>33555420
Math and a right angle.
>>
>>33555670

three/our 25kilo bags o builders sand. Should be less than 20 dollars

your line of sight will cross the ballistic arc at two points one far one near. Go look at a ballistic chart. You will need barrel length
twist, bullet weight , FPSm ballistic coefficient of bullet. Height of sight above barrel etc Tons of them online

Each click is about half an inch at 100 yards, 2 inches at 200 yards etc

Ya but how will I know if it's point of aim or point of impact as you say?

Should I start at close like 25 yards and then go to 100

2" at 100 yards is 2 MOA, 1 " at 100 yards is 1 MOA 1" at 50 yards is 2 MOA, 1/2" at 50 yards is 1 MOA
shoot at a known distance, measure, adjust, you are done. You americans have it so easy, we have to convert to imperial system for most weapon related measurement in EU. Or have a mildot.

Probably best if your new yes.

Shoot it off a sandbag.

Start with the scope correctly installed, if you don't know how to don't just fuck rings on and throw the scope in.

Wind the scope al the way down and all the way up, cound the clicks then wind it back halfway

do the same on the horizontal

If it is fitted right you should be looking parallel with the bore, then hop the bolt and take a look, then look down the scope. Are they both on the target?

If yes proceed to shoot in.
>>
>>33555504
get an old sock, line it with a shopping bag, fill it with sand now you have bag of sand
>>
>>33555725
>>33555814 here again. The procedure is at the end of the user guide : "Sighting In" chapter
cannot copy paste because it's all messed up from a pdf. Basically whatt has been said in the thread, look in the barrel, make a primary gross adjustment and put some clicks in the turrets to tune it. Have fun OP
>>
>>33555835
Ok I didn't know about doing that winding it all the way and then back halfway.

I got a different mount for an acog (gdi r com e model) because I read on slickguns it's the best mount for the money out there that fits this scope. I'm sure this is a dumb question but with prismatic scopes I don't need to worry about rings or level or anything like that yes?
>>
>>33555814
t. 1/8 moa king
>>
>>33555851
>

Always hav the rings level, always make sure the rights are not different or you can place pressure on the scope and damage it. You may need shims. Go look up installing a scope.

You don't have this worry with a good one piece mount but a lot of one piece mounts are shit and a bigger scope will need two rings to be installed on most recievers
>>
>>33555898
I don't think this mounts use rings. The mount I am getting has no rings visible and it's qd. Designed for acogs.
>>
>>33555851
I'm only really into scope that are interesting. I have a shit load of different sights but the ones I obsess on are 10 power and up and my favourites are 40 power, because I don't need a spotting scope to see bullet holes at 100M with one and can practise shooting flies.

I only use sights with less than 10 power on slug guns and lever actions/semi autos.

So 8 clicks at 25 yards to get an inch of adjustment?
>>
>>33555983
I've never had much luck with quick detach mounts when going for real accuracy but with something like that you are centre massing not trying to shoot the black out of a 50 meters carbine target at 100-500 meters.

What gun?

Man 8 clicks for an inch close enough for me I can't get super exact with a 3x fixed scope anyway.
>>
>>33556077
>>33556024

So at 25 yards to move an inch you need 4 moa = 8 clicks @ 1/2 moa clicks
>>
>>33556087
>Man 8 clicks for an inch close enough for me I can't get super exact with a 3x fixed scope anyway.

Agree.

I feel Ars in 22.3 u less they are shit deserve something like a 1.5-7 because they should be capable of hitting reliably to 300M
>>
>>33555670
So, do tits really feel like a bag of sand?
>>
>>33556113
I figured a 3x was enough to get on steel torsos at 300-400m easily enough while also not hindering me at closer ranges much. It also came with a free fastfire 3 red dot so that's nice.
>>
>>33556087
How act you can get depens on how many MOA the dot at the centre of your sight covers

A lot of WW2 scope had low mag and they were hitting men out to 450 meters at 4x
>>
>>33556163

If you are making your own range get a cheap laser rangefinder so you are setting your target at the correct distance, or learn to use a mildot to judge range and a pole with coloured tape marking 1M
>>
>>33556145
>So, do tits really feel like a bag of sand?

No.
>>
>>33556196
Put up wind flags, think about putting a bubble on the gun for cant, get a rangefinder, inclinometer and a kestrel and a dope chart for your ammo. Learn to range find using a mildot and judge wind speed by vegetation like grass. Enjoy.

Bet you get a higher power scope in months tho.

The only interesting gun is an accurate one.

Your rig would be best for running boar at 50M
