I was playing MGSV the other day and I was wondering, how many of these sorts of vehicles - an AFV *with* a turret *and* MLRS system - actually exist or were used in any conflict?
I don't mean purpose built stuff like the TOS-1, with its T-72 chassis, I mean things like the US Army's WW2 T34 Calliope and T40 Whizzbang, with the primary weapon from the base system retained PLUS the MLRS (or even mortar or whatever) capacity.
I think Cubans experiemented heavily with BTR-60PB variants so maybe pic related exists there, but beyond those two US tanks with MLRS, I can't find any actual IRL system that fits the bill.
There's a pic of a Russian drone with a Gsh-30-6 in front and MLRS at the back.

May you share it?

It's a video game designed by Japanese manchidren who don't have the vaguest idea about weaponry.
>>33552062
Yeah sure, you're missing my point.
How many MLRS systems have been slapped on turreted tanks or AFVs that could be used for both purposes?
Is that concise enough for you?

Kojima was the one who specifically wanted the tranq pistol to be manually cocked from the lack of back pressure.
>>33551771
Holy shit I thought that was a real photo. Shame that game never fulfilled it's true potential :((((
I remember seeing at least one or two BTR's in Libya that were cut open in the midle and had rockets mounted there instead
>>33552123
Bullshit. KojiPro has had military advisors for every MGS, they don't actually know shit.
>>33552095
Well there's this, but I think it was more of a US mechanic with an acetylene torch and captured French wine fuckin around than an actual vehicle
>>33551967
You mean Uran-9? It's neither GSh-30-6 nor MRLS.
>>33551771
Apparently in Afghanistan the Soviets would regularly mount S-5 launchers on tanks and BMPs.
>>33551771
Did you ever play that old rts sudden strike the missle trucks were the shit .
Actually surprised rockets aren't more often attached to random vehicles these days
>>33554410
huh, neat
>>33554429
>Ukranian rocket system
>>33554475
That's neither Soviet nor in Afghan. Likely Libya. sorry for shit pic quality.
Here is a genuine Soviet BTR-D with a gun from Mi-24 though.

Unaimed bombardment isn't useful in a non-total-war situation, most of the time, and most conflicts we prep for aren't of that nature.
Even in total war the inaccurate fire they offer is only marginally useful.
There's something else to worry about regarding MGS and the real world.
>Russians and Americans have political intrigues with the leader of the world's largest and most well funded private army....in the Seychelles.
I don't even care if it's just rumors, we're living in the MGS timeline now
>>33554951
it's weird how things keep lining up with the MGS universe.
>>33554913
that's actually kinda sexy

>when Hadji gets ideas from C&C Generals
>>33554974
Do you think Kojima is in contact with the bogs?
Bamp
>>33557424
oh shit
>>33552055
>>33554888
>That's neither Soviet nor in Afghan. Likely Libya.
And why is that?
>>33562448
Because prove that it is.
>>33554888

You communist fuck. Sticking rockets on other vehicles isn't a recent process.
Dumb cunt.
>>33554426
man that thing is cute

>tfw this is in Steel Division Normandy '44

>mfw reinstaillin
>>33554888
HOW DOES THAT WORK?
I mean, I'm guessing its been jerry-rigged into a tactical missile, no way that could be hooked up to an actual SAM system

Not getting licensed weapons was a mistake
>>33552095
Usually it's field modifications so it's hard to say for sure, but it's pretty common.
>>33561807
Oh lord please let that be real.

That looks comfy as fuck to live inside of
