CZ-82/83s are handy little shooters, I recommend them. Only minor gripe I have is the finish on my 82 is starting to come off.

I owned a CZ vz.82 for roughly 6-12 months. These are my opinions on having owned it:

>magazine capacity is decent, but extra mags are fucking expensive.
>9x18mm Makarov is a really decent round _IF_ you can find a company that loads it well - do not expect to carry JHPs, this is a cartridge that needs to be loaded hot with solid projectiles
>do not expect to detail strip it with any ease. Field stripping it is easy as fuck, but don't ever detail strip it
>even though it's somewhere between a compact and a subcompact, it's a fat as fuck gun purely because of the grips
>If you have larger than average hands, you're going to experience hammer bite, it's just going to happen
>the shitty, boxy leather service holster is actually a pretty decent ambidextrous holster
>since it was meant to shoot lighter, siltered bullets (thank Drake, but I don't have access to that photo you gave me about 9x18 Czech surpluss), the CZ vz.82 can handle basically any ammo you feed it
>fixed barrel and steel frame means that you can mag dump and achieve a fist-sized end-result at 15 yards with little trying
>single action trigger pull is acceptable, the double action trigger pull is trash.

Oh yeah, the 82 is the one you want, fuck .380. I bought actual CZ mags in the box for $50 each at the time from midway (thanks Larry you fuck). I've seen cheaper mags recently.

I like my cz82. A things: spend more for actual cross sword magazines. There are places that sell "cz mfg" mags for $20, these are not authentic and hit or miss in function. Im not crazy about the mag release, since theyre recessed into the grip, i cant reach it without repositioning my hand, probably ok if you have long fingers though. Lastly, theres been one type of ammo that didnt work in my cz, it was old style wolf with the pointed conical bullets. I doubt youll find any of this for sale but just thought id mention it.
All in all, very nice gun. I think it was a good buy for me

From what I've read those are legit magazines, but surplus made on-the-cheap. But that's just what I read online. I have two, they are shit, mostly because of the soft metal they use.

They are great guns but they sure have gone up in value lately. I own two of them right now. A few weeks ago AIM sent me my weekly Saturday sale email and had shooter grade 82's on sale for 229 and I hit the sight before 6 am and they were all gone. Your going to pay over 400 for one in decent shape right now. 83's seem to be all over and a lot cheaper then the 82s

Also only buy crossed sword mags, MFG CZ ones are shit. One of mine is so bad it lets you load 13 rounds with no issue.

Also, does anyone know how to convert a 10 Rd mag to a 12? I got a crossed sword one that appears to be capped at 10. Will it fuck up its reliability if I get it back to full capacity?

Picked up a couple of those P83s from Sportsmans Guide around Christmas for 189 each and both are very good condition and came with two mags. When ya see the deals on the MilSurp ya have to act fast. I would have bought 2 of those crappy shape CZ 82s for 229 from AIM if I had been there sooner.
