what is the highest cyclic rate single barrel machine gun ever invented?
>>33546226
A lot.
>>33546226
my guess is the early production MG 42s
>>33546226
an excellent question and I dont have an answer but i'll bump the thread anyway
picture unrelated to post content
Micro Uzi according to wiki is 1,200 rpm.

MOAR DAKKA
>>33546371
MG42 can do 1,400 RPM according to the internet, with the lightest bolt.
>>33546380
I think I even remember one source saying 1,600RPM, but of course sometimes the rollers bounce back in and it becomes dangerous. There is a mod to make it more safe.
probably an open bolt 22 some can run around 1800rpm
>>33546371
The American 180 can hit 1,500 rpm when loaded with .22 short.
>>33546377
>what is the highest cyclic rate single barrel machine gun ever invented
>single barrel machine gun
>single barrel
At least try to read.
>>33546226
If by machine gun you are simply referring to any fully automatic firearm, it would actually likely be small caliber machine pistol or submachine gun.
Lower pressure rounds don't have to be held in the barrel for as long as high pressure rifle rounds in order for pressure to drop to safe levels.

We're getting closer.
This is fun.

ShKAS did >1500rpm
Ultra ShKAS did 3000
>>33546422
Never heard of it. What the hell is that thing supposed to be?

machine gun for aircraft
also soviet gun autism

>>33546393
>/k/ - weapons is mad I posted WAN MIRRION RPM
Yeah, I'm sorry I ruined such a marvelous thread
>>33546422
So you think ultraShKAS was the fastest?
How fast is the port firing weapon again?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M231_Firing_Port_Weapon
1,225 RPM
Hungarian Gebauer had a ROF of about 2000rpm and saw service, ultrashkas didn't see service and was experimental
>>33546475
You could have said something like, "this isn't single barreled but holy shit look at the RPM" or something to that effect and nobody would have had a problem
You just looked like a fool who didn't clearly read
Richter-23 2,600 RPM 23mm cannon

>>33546487
this is faster, and saw use during the winter war
probably on a trial basis
The GSh-6-23 differs from most American multi-barreled aircraft cannon in that it is gas-operated, rather than externally powered via an electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic system. Although the engineering difficulties involved in producing a gas-operated rotary cannon with such a high rate of fire are considerable, they create less of a drain on the aircraft's power systems and are more reliable in combat, since they can continue to fire even in the event of a power system failure.
....
However, after two Su-24s were lost because of premature shell detonation in 1983, and because of some other problems with gun usage (such as system failures), usage of the GSh-6-23 was stopped by a decision of the Soviet Air Force Command. At present all aircraft in the Russian Air Force are flying with fully operational guns, but without ammunition.[4]
lol
>is more reliable!
>literally shoots itself down
10,000RPM sounds very slavbooposting
>>33546572
nothing says "fuck you" in russian like a 3000 RPM machine gun shooting nugget food.
>>33546422
Is that why Russian planes in War Thunder sound like they have miniguns?
>>33546601
10,000 rpm also sounds dubiously useful to me. Like sure, an aircraft gun should have a pretty high rof to compensate for speed and such, but 10k rpm would burn through a lot of ammo really quickly. And while you may have hit and killed your target, what are you gonna do now that your gun is dry and more American pigs have come for your blood.
>>33546601
Single barrel is a really difficult concept to grasp eh
>>33546553
>This can be partially explained by the fact that the R-23 cannon was used in outer space, arming Soviet space stations.
...i didnt know they armed their space stations.
>>33546734
russian planes also carry a really small amount of ammo compared to US planes
>>33546999
mir was armed with the fuck of a hundred filthy russkies. american astronauts said the stench was overpowering.
>>33546553
Strange ammo too
>>33546999
They did it as an experiment. They fired the autocannon once as a test, while nobody was aboard the station.

lame
>>33547913
Guns with retardedly high RPMs are usually scrapped or modified to lower it, hence why they are largely forgotton
Shit, john moses browning's finest can get deployed at 1,100 rpm.
