Depends on the scope and your stock/head position. I use my stocks at full extension and dont shoot ntch, so for me using anything over a standard cantilever isn't usually necessary.

Perhaps you should wait for the scope to arrive before you decide on how much throw you actually need for your use.

Swapping rails is pretty easy assuming you already have a vice. Also will depend on what type of rail and nut you get but generally just secure upper, attach nut, attach gas block and tube, secure rail to barrel nut

A vise isn't very expensive and you should consider getting one, also a good set of files. I've used a set of pliers, flat head, files, and vise to fix more gun shit than I have with literally any other tools. If you plan on having a bunch of ARs you may also consider an AR armorers wrench and a torque wrench

I have one and it's very nice. Illumination is not that bright and battery life could be better but that's pretty much what you get with any variable power scope. Reticle is great. You zero the top of the diamond at 50yds and you have a quick and easy to use 50-400yd BDC or you can zero the center dot at 100 yds and use it as a regular mil dot reticle. Also has a very nice and simple range finder. Glass clarity is excellent. Included throw levers are a nice bonus. Turrets are stiff and have audible and tactile clicks. I would definitely recommend this scope.

The dot itself isn't blurry. It never is, it's always a perfect circle with no spill or bloom unless the lenses are damaged (scratched, hazed, poorly ground etc).
