>>
>>33529954
Keep an eye out for a surplus hi-power, they hold more rounds than a 1911

but.... you dont want a 1911 in 9mm.

If you want a 9mm, you buy a Beretta 92.

If you want a 1911, you want it in 45ACP

You're not going to find one under 500. Just get a RIA or Auto Ordnance in 45 and call it good

I've only ever shot colt 9mm 1911's and they were extremly reliable, only issues I had (what a surprise) were magazine related issues. I've heard a lot of good shit from RIA but never shot one my self. I've shot a norinco 45 1911 and it was rough as shit but worked 99% of the time. More of a range toy then self defence.
>>
>>33529820
OP Ignore these .45 purists and get yourself a Rock Island Armory 1911. They are made on original Colt machines using original Colt specs, and they go for >$500.
They even have gubmint issue series designed to be as close to a 1911A1 as possible

Model 51615 is the 9mm version

The star super b is a decent gun. Don't expect finish or beauty, but a gun that works great it is. Plus it's cheap. Not a traditional 1911, the takedown is different and it has a magazine disconnect in the trigger. Great gun though.
>>
>>33531295
Samefag here, these go for around 200-300 dollars. Do you research before getting one

did sumbodieeeeeee say 1911 in 9mm?

OP ignore fags saying 1911s need to be in .45acp.

bullet tech makes 9mm effective, you can shoot more, and most likely rock faster splits, better shot placement, and not develop any bad flinches or habits due to low recoil.

Agree with this, you can get a sub 500 1911 from Rock Island Armory, look around for a good deal on gun broker or something.

Also getting a 1911 in anything other than 45 ACP is heresy
>>
Brokefag best handgun is a canik tps9 or whatever the fuck it is.
>>
>>33531645
>>33531295
A star is not a 1911, it's just styled after the 1911. It works completely different. If the OP just wants a gun that looks like a 1911, then sure, it'd work great.
>>
>>33531652

you buy yer .45s traveling at 830fps avg

while the rest of us grow our collection in 9mm, 10mm, 38super, 9x23, etc.
>>
>>33529820
Don't get a 1911 in 9mm. 1911's are for 45 and bigger. Better guns to get in 9mm would be: CZ 75, Browning Hi Power, Beretta 92, or a SIG P226.

Worth the money? I have had my eye on one of these for a bit and thinking of picking one up. What do you do for aftermarket mags? I worry about this as much compatibility and availability of replacement parts.

>>
>>33529820
Even though I don't really like the .45 I still consider getting a 1911 in anything but the original calibre to be heresy. Like converting a luger to 10mm.
>>
>>33532487
1911 is a great gun in 9mm. What 125lb woman do you know that can dump a .45 mag?
>>
>>33529820
+1 for the RIA. But don't get the GI model, the sights are unusable, and the dovetail is non-standard. If you were willing to spend double, get the Colt 1991 or Competition Pistol. You won't have to worry about fixing any reliability issues, and it would be something you would be proud to pass on to your kids.

Kinda feel like having a 1911 in 9mm is an odd choice.

Granted ive never fired one in 9, so who knows. Imagine its a smooth shooter.
>>
Get a smith and Wesson 5906
>>
>>33529820
9mm 1911s are fine. they're plenty reliable, you can buy 50% more bullets per dollar. you can fit 2 more rounds per magazine and the recoil is super light. my only regret about buying a 1911 was that it wasnt in 9mm.

OP get an RIA, Ruger, or Springfield RO. cant comment on the remingtons.

Pretty sure buds has a used RO in 9mm up right now for like 650.

I don't know why people think this. I'm four deep into 1911s and I wish I got a 9mm as my first. Would have gotten way more practice in back before I started reloading. Kinda still want one for CC, 10 rounds with a flush mag would be dope af.
>>
>>33532777
>women should focus on getting pistols that are hard to control

>>33532788
The 1911's development has it's genesis in .38ACP pistols (not to be confused with .380ACP or .38 Super, the latter with is more or less a +P load of .38ACP)

.38ACP really isn't a far cry from 9mm Luger

i have the "operator" version of it. Its really nice. Even has the Operator rollmark. Best out of box quality you can get for a 9mm 1911 aside from knighthawk or wilson combat.
>>
>>33533742
makes sense, jew.
>>
>>33532995
So the kimber mim issue was real, just like glocknades were actually real, but is it still the case now? Has kimber stopped cheaping out on mim parts and started making them properly?

I understand that there are 1911 purist that don't want any mim at all, but for people who don't care about what process the parts are made from, has kimber actually improved their parts quality control?
>>
>>33532075
Yes

I have a Springfield Armory 1911 from the 1980s. My dad had it for ten years and gave it to me. He fieldstripped it and oiled it right out of the box, and ran 200 rounds through it the day he got it. About 5,000 rounds later, he gave it to me, I've prolly put 5-6000 rounds through it, too. No FTF or FTE, even with 30 year old ammo. I have had problems with junk GI magazines, but the original mag and Chip McCormick 10 rounders work great. Fucking thing still looks almost new, and with the mag out you can shake it like a maraca and there's no rattle.

My fav gun, I'll never sell it.
>>
>>33529820

if you must go 9mm, go Super.
