But otherwise, phone posting is not an excuse, I've done the OP from a phone several times without issue. Just copy+paste and double check your shit.

>I want a pair of Crye Field Pants. Is the "All Weather" version worth the extra hundred bucks?

The all-weathers are suited for different purposes.

The standard field pants are made of 50/50 nyco so they're durable and no-melt / no-drip. The downside being that they have cotton so they don't dry that fast.

The all-weathers are made of Tweave Durastretch softshell material. It stretches, is coated with DWR to repel light rain, is warmer and more wind-resistant, and is faster to dry.

The thing is that being warm, they aren't suited for every weather condition out there (despite the name, these would be terrible jungle or desert pants). It's possible to constantly adjust upper body layers by removing hats, messing with zips, etc. but doing that with pants in full kit is not really viable. So when I'm selecting clothes for cold weather I prefer to add baselayers, jackets, gloves, gaiters, etc (stuff I can take off easily or adjust/unzip) before I start worrying about pants.

Let me know if it's plate compatable with a good load, ie doesn't press the bottom of the plate into the small of your back and make you want to shoot yourself.

Boots - Merrell vs Salomon?
>>
>>33526921
Unfortunately I dont have a plate carrier anymore, so I can't test that, but Ill let you everyone know how it performs under load in the upcoming weeks/months. One thing I can say right off the back is how wide the straps are.
>>
>>33526956
Merrell fits great but has durability concerns with the footbed and insole. However they're about half the price of Salomon.

Great for weekenders or light duty, but if you're seriously putting miles on them go with something else.

If you are saying that the pouch is regular belt mounted and you are worried about it moving around on a Velcro belt, then I wouldn't be too worried about it, but there are snap loops or something that's made for that. I really doubt it would move around when the belt is on, but idk about when you don't have it on or are attempting to put it on.

Summitco is the only shop near me, they sell normie /out/ shit, but great people and have a wide selection of nice hiking feeties but they're 45mins away.
but I'd advise you to spend the day on your feet getting them nice and swelled up, before going to a shop trying boots on.

I had danners, asolos, ect feel fine when trying them on in a shop, but when actually doing some on foot shit they felt like death.

Summer weather makes me feet grow 1.5 extra sizes.

What size/weight are you looking for? Going to carry it in a bag, belt, pocket, or all of the above? Wave anon has a pretty suggestion, you can't go wrong with a modern classic like that. For something a little bigger and a few more tools the Surge is another good choice. If you want something that fits in a pocket but is still surprisingly capable for its size the Juice S2, CS4, or XE6 are pretty awesome.
>>
>>33527768
Belt typically. Looking for something lighter than my basic bitch leatherman that I've had forever. Going to use it mostly on backpacking trips but plan on adding it to the shtf kit as well.

Hey ceramic platefags, do you guys put your buttstock on your shoulder, or collapse your stock and fire as normal closer to your chest?

Asking for a friend...
>>
>>33527799
Wait... What? Both of those involve shouldering...

If you don't have big meaty shoulders like yours truly you can just cant the rifle inwards about 15 degrees and that clears your plate.

>>
>>33527807
hard to explain without you hear with me, and I can't put it on to take pictures because everyone's asleep and holyshitvelcro

I'll try the canting thing, usually I keep my stock pretty close to the right-center of my chest, basically right where the ledge of my plate is, so I either have to move it outward onto the ball of my shoulder or inward and collapse the stock. It's fairly comfy that way but I feel like it's going to slip.

Ah, so if you want something lighter you may want to also look into the Charge TTI or Charge ALX as well. Hell I'd even say look into their new Signal since it has some useful tools for backpacking too, but I haven't handled one yet so I don't know if the camping aspects of it are memes or not.

Similar situation for my keychain. I love the Squirt PS4 - it's without doubt the best keychain-sized multitool out there - but it was just too heavy and bulky for what I try to keep as a light keychain, so I ended up buying a Style CS for EDC and keeping the Squirt on my nightstand.

I want one. I think it fills a good niche if you think you're just going to use pliers, knife, and bit drivers more than anything. A good tool to take to work or just as a grab and go tool because who really needs an awl, saw, etc when you're commuting or at the office/whatever. I'd go with the CX for looks and the slightly better steel and plain edge blade but that's just me.

I know it's not gonna fit in a pistol mag pouch. Maybe flash or 40mm, definitely has to have a buckle. I really don't think I'm worried about breaking it, maybe scratching it though. If I somehow miraculously break it, I can always send it to vortex and get it repaired.

I use a SOG power assist. It's nice to have 2 assisted blades readily available and the leverage of the pliers is great for tasks that need extra grip. It's not without it's flaws though. The locking mechanism for the other assorted tools is flawed and I've come pretty close to giving myself serious lacerations when it failed under pressure. There are better tools out there, but it has served me quite well.

>>33528740
I have the Crye Precision combat pants with the "air flex" knee pads, they aren't that great to be honest and don't pad your knees all that well. It's better than nothing but I'd prefer thicker actual knee pads and just USGI Multicam pants.
>>
>>33528749
Thank you for the advice, but that doesn't really answer my question. I have actual knee pads that strap on separate from my pants. I have no intention of using the internal knee pad pockets on the field pants. I just like the pocket arrangement and aesthetics of the Crye field pants.

If you need water proofing I'd go on ebay and find some ecwcs gen III level 4 or 5 multicam pants, it's way cheaper and I've worn ecwcs gen III in the pouring rain while digging a ditch, it works extremely well and is light weight. You can buy the ACU camo ecwcs way cheaper if you want to try it out. The crye all weather combat pants are like 300 bucks.

Ebay, but they're rare. Otherwise, you're stuck with airshit repros made for Japanese airsofters.

So I picked up the SOG Ninja Daypack on sale, because I'm a cheapfag (pic related)

I've realized it's cheap chinese junk that's probably gonna tear in 4 different places in a few months, so I wanna return it and buy something that'll actually last me.

Any suggestions for a good medium-large EDC pack?

I've looked at 5.11 tactical, maxpedition, and LA Police Gear.

My budget is ~40-60 dollars.

Also, I'm just looking for an EDC bag that will keep out water and hold plenty of gear.

I plan on mounting a knife to it once in a while, but I'm not gonna hang 50 pounds off of the PALS webbing, so it doesn't need to mil-spec.

In fact, I would probably buy a backpack with that laser cut reverse PALS, because I'm more of a subtle tactiqueer.

I use one for school, holds my laptop (which is probably 5-6 pounds because muh gaymin) and my notebook, calculator, pens and shit. It does this well, but the straps loosen over time. I probably wouldn't use it for any outdoor use as the stitching isn't phenominal, but it's a good bag for every day normie use

With a budget of $40-$60 you won't find much else though

If you have your gear synched correctly it doesn't make a difference, as long as you have the body type it's fine. If you have a short torso don't do it, the belt will need to at or right under your waist, not your hips. My body is quite long so it doesn't bother me once I figured out how to get it to sit right. If it doesn't sit right bending over is a nightmare. Now I will recommend low pro belts if you have to get a belt, but warbelts still have a place if you plan to carry a lot.

Integral knee pads are superior. External knee pads will move and fuck shit up if you're doing any type of dynamic movement.

I've never had any trouble with the airflex knee pads and consider them more than sufficient to get the job done.

I prefer the regular as opposed to the all-weather. I've had better luck with the regular nyco surviving through some hard shit.

From what I remember Crye is pretty much made for you rather than made for mass, meaning you're not really going to get a whole bunch of adjustment outside of what the size chart says it's meant for. They're designed not to be super baggy so they don't impede movement, flexibility, etc.

Literally what?

All I can say is that if you are autisming over uniform regulations (which don't even apply here...) then you are somebody who mucks up the whole system. Because either you're a boot with no experience, or you're a slicksleeve that somehow managed to get promoted and barks like an annoying yappy dog about uniforms because you don't have anything worthwhile to talk about.

i got 2 pairs of TAD pantaloons, and their jeans by far are my go-to for general purpose from shooting to hiking and whatnot, except for cold weather though definitely not cold weather

my other pair is the Covert DC pants which are basically useless to you unless you like to do carpentry/mechanic shit or welding etc. etc, as they are comfortable for the task

TAD pants = you get what you pay for

TAD jackets = you get shilled

Any Mayflowerbros on, I'm wondering if I should have got one size up cumberbund. When I wrap it and fold the front flap down, I can only get each side about 2" onto the center velcro, and probably 1" of velcro shows outside.

Is this a big deal or am I being a fag.

The best Loctite is good up to 450 degrees, which is marginal for higher rates of fire. Rocksett is good for more than 2000 degrees.

Kneepads: Black Arcteryx Kneecap
Chest rig: Too hard to tell exactly what it is. It probably wasn't directly modeled off of a specific piece of gear. HSGI's AO CHEST RIG is very close (and cheap!). You'll have to make the rear ID placard yourself as I don't know of anyone who makes a rear chest rig placard.
Belt: Black pistol/web belt
Belt Pouches: 2 horizontal Kydex pistol pouches and 1 OC Spray Pouch ( I think it's a bit too narrow to be a handcuff pouch )
Right leg Holster platform: It's a mix between Blackhawk and Safariland. I'd go with a Safariland Double Strap Leg Shroud w/quick release
Left leg Molle Thigh Rig: Another tossup. Spec Ops Gears's LEG RIG ( has a single strap) looks pretty close
Left leg Molle Thigh Rig Pouches: Looks like 1 flashbang/smoke grenade molle pouch and a Double M4 magazine molle pouch

Crye G3s replaced ACs. As far as differences go, ACs use a TAN stretch fabric on the multicam pants instead of multicam stretch fabric on the G3 pants. AC pants lack stretch fabric in the crotch area in contrast to the G3s. ACs pants have a high back while G3 have a straight cut back. AC pants are baggier and cut longer when compared side by side with a pair of G3 pants. AC pants lack the side pull tab size adjustment that the G3 pants have. AC pants also lack the cargo pocket elastic magazine retainers that the G3 pants have.

This. The belt's some actual good shit.

The plate carrier harness isn't that bad either. Just an H strap or X strap of sorts that would let you wear a front plate and a pack without one of those built up chest rigs. Their elastic cummerbund isn't bad either.
