Can /k/ tell me if this thing was worth something before previous owner buttfucked it?
Another shot. Other side.

Who would do that to a Colt 1911?
What did previous owner do?
Just have it re-blued, it'll be fine.
Moar
What am I supposed to be looking at?
I know that's an original M1911. Just not what's wrong with it, because I really don't know or care all that much about 1911s.

Did they sand the finish off? Also fucked with the trigger and front site. They dumb.Still a nice pistol.
My father traded someone something for this. He was told it was a WWII era military issued colt. Previous owner fancies himself a marksman and made several modifications
It's old school national match style modification, you bafoon. it's far from fucked, it's probably worked to be a nice piece. Look at the trigger and NM stamp.
Front and rear sites are obvious mods. The weight of the trigger is scary light.

SN says it's from 1918

I'd be happy to own it. It might be worth less to a museum or collector but it probably shoots well.
It fires maybe 2-3 rounds before it locks up.

>>33525554
That is not okay.
>>33525606
The sites?
>>33525597
it probably shoots 100% as straight as you're not, OP. Go shoot it. And stop sucking dicks.
It does not function properly. It locks up after 2-3 rounds.
>>33525631
Yeah.
>>33525701
I think the gun looks pretty cool desu senpai.
>It locks up after 2-3 rounds.
That doesn't mean anything. Do all the controls function properly? Are any parts rattling around? Have you tried different mags? Hardball rounds? Checked extractor tension? Slowly cycled dummy rounds?

It looks like a National Match model. The early ones were made from production model pistols. It's got an NM barrel and the typical sights. It doesn't appear to be a government rework (finish aside) because it doesn't have NM or SA stamps on the slide or frame. Does it have an NM marked barrel bushing?
>>33525387
Nice find. Keep it. Leave it as is and just make sure to keep it oiled.
>>33525843
neat, I never knew these things existed. Maybe OP's isn't actually a bubba'd abomination.
I just looked up the serial and as someone said earlier, this is possibly a WW1 era 1911? I don't plan on getting rid of it. It's more valuable to me as gift from my dad than a few hundred dollars. I was only curious as to /k/'s opinion on the condition.
I'm confused. Is this a national match 1911 or a WW1 government issue that has been modified to appear as one?

It's a US property M1911 (pre-M1911A1) modified into a National Match pistol.
>>33525843
It does have an nm barrel bushing.
