MAKE THE RINGING STOP MAN I FEEL LIKE I AM ABOUT TO GO INSANE
>>
>white noise becomes your friend
>seriously, have a fan running or a radio on very low volume in your room/office
>wear earpro during loud activities to preserve what hearing you have/stop the EEEEEEEE from getting worse
>plugs/muffs on while mowing, shooting, vacuuming, etc. from now on
>>
>>33515948

it feels like theres nothing i can do to alleviate it man, honest to god feel like im about to snap, call me a pussy but it sucks man
>>
>>33515877
dubs you have to do it faget
>>
>>33515877
Did it just start? You will forget about it someday.
>>
>>33515877
Just listen to music with headphones 24/7 to drown it out
>>
>>33515977
You get used to it. Thinking about it makes it louder, by the way.

Also depending on the cause it may be cureable. High blood pressure can cause it and so can tense jaw muscles. The answer to both is to sleep more, as well as taking blood thinners. Omega 3 pills will thin your blood naturally.
>>
>>33516134

I woke up and it just felt more severe than usual, I hope it's just my anxiety trying to drive me insane.
>>
earpro is a meme
>>
>>33516158
That's what stress does. Distractions work best to help forget about it
>>
>>33515877
White noise in the background will help you.
Melatonin will help you sleep.
Double up on earplugs and muffs in order to preserve what hearing you have left.
>>
Perforate one of your ear drums so the other will seem clearer by comparison.
>>
>>33516158
Go out and get laid. It won't do anything, but you will feel better.

Also if caused by hearing damage from loud noises, you can take solace knowing that it will fade with age. The high pitched ringing is caused by your more sensitive, high pitch tuned ear hairs being damaged. They constantly send out the ringing noise because they're semi broken. Eventually they'll just die completely and you'll lose that range of hearing altogether, like everyone does as they age. You'll be half deaf, but you will know silence again in 40 or so years.
>>
>tfw I put about 120 rounds through an M4 without any earpro and I have no ringing or ear problems at all
Feels so fucking good. That shit would annoy me to death.
>>
Protip: Melatonin makes tinnitus much less severe, but save it for days when you have a headache/hangover because you build up a tolerance to it really quickly. Plus it makes you drowsy.
>>
>>33516176
Go away retard
>>
>>33516224
Melatonin? You're saying I have to become black to stop the ringing?
>>
>>33516247
There's only one way to get blacked, anon. You know what to do.
>>
>>33516247
Getting shot by your fellow melatonin-enriched gentlemen who love their community would certainly put an end to your ringing problem. Although you would be late for the church service you were undoubtedly on your way to when you were stricken down by your brotha good boi who had his lapse in judgement due to a lack of funding for the programs he sponsored.
>>
>>33515907
i know the feel anon

it sucks fucking cock

it sucks even more when youre a sound engineer and you should have good hearing to do that
>>

>>

Causes Tinnitus so do atleast 200 other prescription meds including aspirin, several types of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, sedatives, and antidepressants

Place the palms of your hands over your ears with fingers resting gently on the back of your head. Your middle fingers should point toward one another just above the base of your skull. Place your index fingers on top of you middle fingers and snap them (the index fingers) onto the skull making a loud, drumming noise. Repeat 40-50 times. Some people experience immediate relief with this method. Repeat several times a day for as long as necessary to reduce tinnitus.
>>
>>33515877
Go to a doctor don't seek medical advise on 4chan you may have a serious problem and waiting may make the problem worse.
>>
>>33516415

I really didn't appreciate classical music or opera until the ringing became non-stop. Now I almost always have to it playing in the background, or some other noise.

I wish that I had used electronic earpro instead of those shitty disposable earplugs for the first couple of years when I picked up guns as a hobby.
>>
>>33516396

i-im skeptical to try this
>>
>>33516527

It works.

For me it was temporary. As in it lasted for like, 5 minutes. It's pretty fucking cool to not hear ringing.

Shit works great for me, but only very briefly. Part of me regrets trying at all.

I've had the ringing literally all of my life. I remember being like four and focusing on it whenever I was alone and it was very quiet. I literally thought everyone had some ringing without white noise until I saw that thread. I tried it, and for five seconds I heard complete silence for the first time in my life. Unfortunately it was only five seconds, and previously I hadn't known what I was missing.

To be fair, I have yet to try doing any real regiment of it.
>>
>>33526073
>I've had the ringing literally all of my life.
Probably just bad genetics for hearing. You probably have ancestors who had hearing problems. I know the feel.
>>

White noise my nigga
I was born with it, in the winter time at night it'll literally keep me up unless there's a computer/3d printer/some music playing in the background to drown it out

>>
>>33515948

I love the fan in the background and I don't have tinnitus as far as I know. If there's no fan when you are trying to sleep you just hear this abyssal silence and every little creak or footstep.

Maybe it's a different kind of tinnitus, the 'hiss' someone referred to here but just pure undiluted silence when I am in bed is really strange and discomforting. Could also just be force of habit.

get tinnitus faggot
>>
From all the reading I've done most rifle shots are around 160db and wearing both ear plugs and muffs only reduces the db you're exposed to by about 30db so even with plugs and muffs your ears are still exposed to 130db? am I wrong about this?
>>
>>33533936
130 dB is certainly better than 160db.

140db is about where exposures of several seconds can cause hearing.

Since decibels are logarithmic (energy is multiplied every 2db or something), 1
30db shouldnt be a serious problem.

It's about as loud as an ambulance siren at max volume.

Also, it's unbelievable how much the people in this thread disregard their hearing. (Ones who weren't born with tinnitus, or got it from active service or an accident)

I haven't bought my moss berg yet, but I know I'm getting a nice set of earmuffs for when I shoot.

yeah but ever with plugs and muffs 130db can cause damage over time. Kinda makes me want to only shoot suppressed.

I want to join the military, but I don't want to trash my hearing

Is this a realistic expectation ?
>>
>>33535124
Really depends on your MoS, and if you get partial hearing loss you get a nice stipend
>>
>>33515877
tinnitus is a meme

Tried that, had a script for a while but they weren't very effective. Melatonin seemed to work a bit better, but it wasn't a restful sleep. Think I'm going to have to do a sleep study to find out why I don't sleep.

Why what happens when you close your noes and blow air from the ears?
>>
>>33538733
it clears out your ear canals. noone was talking about that thought
>>
>>33538858
to put it in better context. you clip your two nostrils with your fingers and blow as hard as you can till you feel it going through your ears. it helps a lot of issues.
>>
>>33515877
I had the ringing for like a day after my last trip to the range. I was using a bad cheek welt that pushed up on my muffs just enough to break the seal.

Even after just one day I was so sick of that ringing. Thank God it went away.
>>
>>33538879
Did that on the plane once to equalize the pressure. Ended up rupturing my eardrum and whistled through the hole. I ear-whistled for a couple minutes before it started to hurt. It was kinda fun. Freaked my brother out too. Would not recommend, but better to make the best out of a bad situation right?

I have this exact fan, but it's white.

Wtf please just post this as its own thread. I feel like a bewildered child doing this then just looking around "observing" silence. It may only be about a minute but when youve never heard silence before its a wierd sensation
