So why have no gun companies thought to make a modern take on the LeMat?
>>
>>33506640
Because it would be retarded and expensive.
>>
>>33506645
So were you growing up and yet here you are.
>>
Even the BP repros are damn near a grand.
>>
>>33506651
Did you make this thread just for this? Because it would be worth it if you did.

Also it really is retarded and expensive, and unless it's some weird custom round it would have to be black powder to avoid SBR laws or be .410, in which case there exist revolvers where you can have 6 shots of .410.

So it would be expensive and retarded.
>>
>>33506661
You can't tell me there would be no market for a 10 shot revolver, especially when one of those shots is 20 gauge.
>>
>>33506640
Because the NFA exists. The shotgun part wouldn't be able to be larger than 28 gauge and would need to be .410 for ammo to actually be common, at which point why not just buy an S&W Governor and get 6 shots of .410.
>>
>>33506716
There is no market for a 10 shot revolver, especially if there needs to be 200 tacked on out the door for the SBR 20 gauge and the whole thing is thicker than your waist. Not saying its impossible, just that its more a private workshop project.
>>
>>33506716
>20 gauge
>Pistol

Dog shooters inbound
>>
Oh look, Op is a fag that watched Westworld and now wants to pretend he's that guy with the LeMat.
>>
>>33506758
Nah man I don't watch tv. I got a hard-on for this gun while looking for Civil War era guns. But it's nice to know it's topical again!

Looks like they made that Westworld version function with modern cartridges too, but that's all I can tell from the still image. The biggest reason this gun fell out of favor over time was that reloading it was awful.

Here you go dumbass:

Available at Cabela's for fucksakes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJhC3H0srQY
Ever since I saw this I thought it'd be neat as fuck to have a .327 mag revolver with a .410/45 colt barrel.
>>
>>33506773
The Westworld version is blank firing only, it wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of actual rounds.
>>
>>33506661
Would it still be legal if only the lower barrel was muzzle-loading?
>>
>>33506969
Yes, in which case you have a non gun attached to a gun.
>>
>>33506779
>changes his pronunciation of "LeMat" every time he says it
>>
>>33507004
Just to piss off autists and because who the hell knows how he pronounced his name.
>>
>>33507007
>because who the hell knows how he pronounced his name

so pick one pronunciation and stick with it
>>
>>33507019
That would be a disservice to Dr. Le Ma
To have one's name forgottem would be terrible to the man. Thankfully the LeMat revolver bears his name and we are still talking about it.
>>
>>33506716
That's an NFA item. What company is going to bother making this when it's so difficult to own , and down right illegal in some states.
>>
>>33506640
Because it was an obscure gun before Westworld hit the air. Now that it looks like the show will be around a while, I'm sure somebody is working on it.
>>
It would not be NFA, you could make it a 8 shot in .357 with a .410 shot bbl and it would be perfectly legal. A little hard to conceal as a ccw but it would make a good trail sidearm.
>>
I wish someone would make a .38/.357 with a .410 center chamber
>>
>>33510608
>>33510597
Would still be Title II.

It was an obscure gun before RDR, really
Still relatively unknown after that, but the internet caught onto it quicker.
>>
is your dog safe op?
>>
>>33506640

Pietta makes one.

Now git
>>
>>33510624
How would that be title II, exactly? If you have a second trigger on an otherwise unmolested .410 pistol that's just bolted onto an otherwise unmolested revolver, what you have is no different legally than a SxS or O/U shotgun.

If the shotgun assembly could be immediately removed from the revolver and converted into a standalone SB shotgun, THAT would qualify as Title II. You just have to make the barrel and action intrinsic to the revolver's frame, as in the original LeMat.
>>
>>33510723
Any shotgun pistol is an AOW or SBS depending on manufacture.
>>
>>33506640

>Expensive to machine
>Expensive to sell due to high machining costs and the fact that it's an SBS (tack $200 on price tag)
>No demand
>R&D costs

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a cartridge LeMat that didn't look autistic like its last iteration, but you or I wanting something doesn't mean everyone else does, or that modern companies want to shell out the cash to make something that won't sell.
>>
>>33508638
wait, what? a pistol that shoots 20ga shells would be a NFA item?
>>
>>33510771
How can you not know this? It's been law for almost 100 years.
>>
>>33510803
Well I knew that you can't cut the stock and barrel down on a regular shotgun but I hadn't really thought about factory-made shotgun pistols being NFA as well. Why are .410 pistols and snake/rat shot okay but not 20ga?
>>
>>33510834
They aren't.
Snake shot is not designed for shotgun use. It's for use in pistols/rifles.
>>
>>33510834
>Why is something less than .50 caliber ok but something more than .50 caliber not

I'll let you take a few minutes to puzzle this one.
>>
>>33510731
Except for all those .410s already on the market...
>>
>>33506645
/thread honestly

It would be wildly impractical and have little demand
>>
>>33510834
The .45/.410 revolvers are rifled. Just because you CAN shoot .410 through it safely does not make it a shotgun.
>>
>>33511311
Rifled barrel=not a shotgun.

I mean, technically, the US government considers rifled slug guns rifles. One of the cores of the legal definition of shotgun is it MUST be smoothbore.
