What do you do if your out in the open and one of your guys gets dropped by a sniper? Then another guy gets hit whilst on the ground.

What if no one can see where he is and he's picking your squad off one by one. Could be multiple snipers even. Not much cover in an open field either.

gombat roll to cover, figure out direction of fire, supress

leave wounded alone until situation under control

This can be a real issue that the military needs to recognise, not just for the veterans but also for the hot dogs.

Makes sense, 9-2=7 and then you lose another 2 at least to move the 2 wounded bringing you down to 5. Probably want 2 guys per wounded after a certain point so you can move faster.

Were you told you were still ineffective after getting the 2 wounded/kia evacuated? 7 guys wouldn't be ineffective.

First you analize the situation. This is a situation that you walked into enemy's far ambush. I would break contact.

The fire team on front will get pin down. And you will just get down. Since no one can locate the shooter. You can't shoot back.
And ppl on the ground are getting hit, so the shooters are close enough for their weapon to be effictive, and it's consider no cover.

The second fire team in the back can't really manuver to help you out either.

Best thing to do, break contact. pop smoke. Break line of sight.

What's worse? They pin you down, so they will also call in indirect fire on you. maybe because they can't calculate shit. or maybe their morter crew is busy.

>>33496007
Why are you walking across an empty field without support vehicles?
>>
>>33497955

What you and other people who've never been in combat and taken a causality fail to comprehend is how hard it is to actually move a casualty and his equipment while in combat. In Vietnam, sure, you could just ditch the casualties helmet and duece gear, and then one person could carry them over their shoulders for very, very short periods. Casualties are rarely taken on a flat grass field with solid ground. The reality of the situation is that your patient is going to be 150-200lbs of flesh muscle and bone. You're going to, if the casualty is incapable of moving themself, remove their fighting load which will be a minimum 45lbs with their body armor, helmet and rifle combined. Worse more if they have a pack/ruck, because you can't just abandon your casualties equipment. Now you have a minimum of two people carrying the casualty, minimum one carrying the gear. Those three will not be able to hold security or shoot back. Realistically four people will need to move a casualty and the equipment spread between two people-one of them wearing the casualties gear over their own so that they have their hands free to fire-albeit with no ability to properly shoulder their weapon.

To answer OP; dive for cover if it's close enough, death blossom if it isn't, move the casualty under a heavy volume of fire and smoke. The most effective medicine in a firefight is rounds down range.

Oh and one more thing- a single shot being fired at, even if it hits, is not the sign of a sniper. It's just one ass hole that doesn't flick to full auto and insha Allah his way to victory. Always annoys me when green troops take a few shots and the next thing you know everyone is convinced there's a trained sniper hunting them. May sound stupid to you all, but if one dumb ass says there's a sniper taking shots at them on a radio, everyone on the net then has a huge negative psychological response, thinking they're being glassed constantly and going to be blown away.
>>
>pop smoke
>retrograde 200m to tree line
>call linear target on tree line where shooting came from
>end fire mission, start smoke mission to conceal movement in case your original fire mission didn't kill sniper
>return from mission not having to clean inside of rifle
>>
>>33496007
well i'd try to avoid being in an ODA at all costs, but if you're tying my hands behind my back like this then

>drop to ground

>return fire in general direction

>pop smoke

>get the wounded

>make fireteam level bounds to a tree line to break contact

or if we have a good general idea of where the sniper is

>keep bounding to the treeline towards the enemy and keep violence of action having an alternating flex team and a base of fire team

flaws?

But op said there is another guy got shot on the ground. So bad guy is pretty good shot.
Better treat the enemy with respect and give everything you got, than to got shot in the dick.

>What do you do if your out in the open and one of your guys gets dropped by a sniper?

Your squad has already failed on multiple levels and you all deserve to die. So the answer to your question, which is basically 'what if I fuck up royally?', is you will die. Send a call for fire on your own position to ensure you and all the heroes around you get bronze stars at your funerals.
