Why not? In my experience, resistance to personal ownership always seems to boil down to "I wouldn't trust myself with an assault rifle", which says more about them than anything else.

To whom should have the power to tells you what you can own and not to? God? Government? Your mom?

To owned a fully automatic rifle or machine gun you must get a FFL license, then on top of that you need to get a different class. Then to buy a machine gun from the government you need about $20k...

another way if you have gotten a fully automatic before the 1934 National Firearms Act. Then you would have something like the Thomson machine gun, The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)... and many others...

Many rifles that is being sold to the public like the AR-15 that you have shared is a semi automatic... meaning with ONE pull of the Trigger and ONE round is fired, not what the media is trying to portrayed.

and you ask why would anyone need a AR-15... there was a resent news coverage where 3 armed burglars broke in to a home. The home owner using a AR-15 fired back and killing all 3.

Assault rifle is not a left term, that's assault weapon, you put a period instead of a comma, anyone who goes through the BATFE hoops can own an automatic firearm, you have really weird empty lines for some reason, you spelled Thompson wrong, the Thompson is a submachine gun, you capitalized the when the BAR is called the Browning Automatic Rifle, it isn't called The Browning Automatic Rifle, everyone knows what the BAR is you don't need to make yourself feel smart by spelling it all out, you said "many rifles that is being sold" when that "is" should be "are" you don't need to capitalize trigger, "is trying to portrayed" should be "is trying to portray", and you spelled recent wrong.
