I go to Ft. Polk tomorrow as a 68w - what should I expect? (I'm

68w stationed in Ft. Campbell here been in for about a year. From what I hear from my class stationed there and some NCO's in the MP company I am with who were there before that it sucks. The post sucks but there are some benefits like drive through DFAC's and tons of bars, also New Orleans and Baton Rouge are not bad and not too far. IMO you are in the worst duty station but good luck.

polk is a shit base, but god damn their aircraft hangers (there is a Lakota unit stationed there) are fucking nice. Gyms, showers, rec rooms all self contained in a new hanger separated from all the big army bullshit of polk. Some slice of 15 series heaven...

Also New Orleans is like 4+ hours from there so it's not like you can "go out" in the city for a friday night w/ the boys (and baton rouge is an even worse black ghetto so don't even bother)

Like most army bases it's in the middle of bum fuck nowhere as a way for congress to artificially stimulate the local economy of destitute southern swamp states like Louisiana, Alabama or Georgia.
