I really wonder about if anything is accidentally marked at all. Like, I've had a store way back deny a purchase because, in short terms, I made it sound like a gift/straw purchasey sort of thing when my Dad was the one filling out the 4473, so they denied the sale. No skin off our backs, went on our way, the guys never said another thing after and we still shoot at their range to this day.

Now, I wonder how far they can go with it. I think it depends on the store, but still. Let's say you accidentally ticked the "Not a Citizen" box or whatever the fuck, even if you clearly are and have passed checks before. Or the fugitive box. Does the FBI take note? Do they have to keep that paper? Can they even just be like "look, I think you didn't look at this part well enough" and have you redo it and run it?

Just like everything else with the ATF it isn't entirely clear-cut and written as law to read and know, so I've always been curious.

I have an extensive history of clinical depression and anxiety. Through medical and therapy I have learned how to manage my mental health and have been in remission for years. I am a productive member of society with a full-time job and I pay my taxes.

I own four firearms and have never hurt or threatened anyone with them. I have also been praised for my consistently good safety practices. I really just like to shoot and would like to learn how to hunt.

There are people suffering more severe mental conditions and/or have not been adequately treated who should not be trusted with firearms.
We need to screen for these people to protect them and others from tragedy. I have never had issues with 4473s because I have sought treatment, am in control of my mental health, and have never allowed myself to become a danger to others.

I got denied at Rural King, but it must have been a store level denial. They had implemented a new computer system to fill out the 4473 form. I had purchased my first gun from them no problem when filling out the paper 4473 and they called it in. Their new way I got denied. Then the clerk treated me like I was criminal scum. He wouldn't even let me buy the ammo I was interested in either. Only let me buy the piece of shit stapler which broke immediately and they wouldn't refund me for.

So I went out immediately after to my local gun shop and, surprise, bought a gun. Then a week later my CCW permit came in the mail.

Fuck Rural King. They denied me for zero reason other than their dumb ass system is broken as fuck.

Never been turned down, but I was arrested and processed 3 years ago. Charges were dropped but I had already spent the night in jail, got fingerprinted etc. Ever since then my transfers always get delayed for some amount of time. Shortest has been 30 min, longest is 6 hours. My FFL guy says once you've been arrested, your background check gets done by an actual Human instead of the computer system.

Oh and this is for the rest of my life. Could be worse, I guess. Felony charges could have stuck.
