At 19 you can purchase either a Rifle or a Shotgun.
You must be a legal resident/alien/citizen of the US, and you're good to go.

Sadly, outside of private sales (one person to another) you can't purchase a handgun until 21.
Some college campuses allow guns, most do not.
You can store it off campus if you have someone you trust/a place to store it.
If you find a handgun that someone will sell to you, you can potentially find a bank and store it in a safe deposit box (not all banks will let you do this but some will)

Or, if you have your very own apartment and no roommates, you can ignore this and simply hide it in your apartment.
This CAN potentially get you kicked out of your apartment if your land lord has a no firearms policy.

If you live in a dorm...well, you're fucked because while you might be able to hide one for a while you'd inevitably get found out (at least with a rifle or shotgun)
