Which cartridge that has been or is in use by some military has the longest point-blank range?
>>33465733
>longest point-blank
wat
>>33465735
What?
>>33465733
I understand what you're asking, but poor wording.
A better question:
"What service caliber has the flattest trajectory?"
>>33465733
>>33465733
.375 chey tac
>>33465753
A really fast but not very aerodynamic bullet might have a better point-blank range than a very aerodynamic but not as fast bullet.
A really aerodynamic but not as fast bullet might have an overall better trajectory than a very fast but not very aerodynamic bullet.
Are you asking for flattest trajectory overall, or the longest distance before caring about holder? If you want the longest distance before caring about holdover you'd want the highest muzzle velocity, ballistic coefficient be damned because you're not shooting that far.
>>33465733
What
>>33465813
I'm asking for the longest point-blank range.
ITT: People that don't understand what the term 'point-blank' actually means.
>>33465830
>longest point-blank range
>>33465733
Whichever round goes in the longest barrel.
>>33465830
that's what we were asking you to clarify, because nobody really uses that term
>Point-blank range is any distance over which the trajectory of a given projectile fired from a given weapon remains sufficiently flat that one can strike a target by firing at it directly.
so highest velocity
Highest I can find from an actually-adopted round is .50 BMG M903 SLAP at 4000 ft/s.
>>33465733
I don't think I've ever heard the term "point blank range" used anywhere other than in manuals and instructives
>>33465861
Yeah, longest point-blank range.
>>33465861
HOG HUG
>>33465877
>1200m/s
cool.
I suspect something like the .408 CheyTac but perhaps some variant, such as discarding sabot, of .50BMG is superior in that regard.
>>33465733
50 BMG or probably one of them tactical long range rounds like the Cheytacs.
