If I were in the market for a second AR that I wanted to gucci out, that's what I'd do.
>>
>>33464398
I want one but don't carbine length gas systems not function as well as midlength with a 16" barrel?

I have a Colt OEM 2, it's pretty good.
>>
>>33464398
I'd grab a SR15 just cause its got that sweet rightside bolt release. sell the upper half to some mallninja over on /arg/ for $900 and go get an OEM2 as well, or you know, a nice upper.
>>
>>33466208
They function fine, but middy is better.
>>
>>33464398
No, buy an AR6720.

Uh.
>>
At this point why not build the whole thing and get exactly what you want?

With tools it might cost nearly the same, but you get to keep the tools.
Slap it together in an hour or so.

You also won't feel like a chump for working at a loss as Colt's QC department.
>>
So, why the Colt hate? Has their quality gone downhill? Have they gone the Ruger pre-2002 route of being fudd as fuck? Or is it that they're just overpriced like Glocks?
>>
>>33467843
People hate Colt for valid reasons like they refused to give in to market pressures for years and offer a mid length AR or one with a free float handguard. Others hate them because they don't like anything that isn't PSA shit.

>better components
Please elaborate.
>>
>>33467843
overrated, considered good quality but that's it they may be the bar for a combat rifle but most everyone meets or exceeds that bar, scoffed at the commercial market for decades and are struggling now that they lost .mil contract but still don't do anything other than churn out the same shit, every time they do deliver something people want it's retarded and half assed

>>33467700
speaking of overrated shit
the upper is nothing special and extremely overpriced. if you want to change the barrel you need to change the bolt or vice versa, KAC will not sell e3 extensions or barrels, barrel nuts are proprietary and the wrenches are expensive no idea if someone makes an offbrand one but those teutonic jews would probably sue if someone did
the lower could be substituted with just about any other ambi forged lower for 1/3 the price.

their buis and the endplate with the qd points are quite nice though.
>>
>>33468419
It's mid-length. That's the extent of it. Barrel is QPQ (I think, only says QPQ finish, the bore could be untreated) while the Colt is chrome lined. Really shouldn't make much of a difference.
>>
>>33468440
>if you want to change the barrel you need to change the bolt or vice versa,
Why would you buy an SR-15 and then do this?
>>
>>33468483
barrels wear, needs change
two of the best things about an ar-15 are the modularity and the fact that you don't need a trained armorer or gunsmith to service or modify it, kac kicks both to the curb in the name of further jewing customers on already overpriced rifles.
>>
>>33468556
>barrels wear, needs change
Get a replacement. Do you seriously think replacement parts are unavailable? I get that you might not find value in the SR-15's features, but then you don't buy one.
