>force multiplier shit (training locals to into guerrilla, turning informants, etc)
>direct action (killing the shit out of things)
>recon
>sniping
>humanitarian aid in nonpermissible environments
>hostage rescue
>assassination
>demolitions in nonpermissible environments
>translating for government bigwigs in austere places
>HVT transport/VIP escort
So basically everything any other SOF group does plus extras.

SMU- Special Missions Unit, specific special operations that you need skilled operators for, the kind of ops that DEVGRU and Delta do.

Training foreigners- they also go to other countries and train/advise troops, typically as a means of helping one side america is sympathetic to without having to have "troops on the ground"

Id say that green berets range from slightly below to equivalent to seals, but idk they have slightly different jobs so thats perhaps not exactly fair.

Delta on the other hand is probably slightly better. they're significantly more secretive than SEALs, do kinda similar jobs to them supposedly, and i think cross recruit from all the branches to a degree.

Maritime special forces, like the SEALs but with a smaller emphasis on marine environments

In an "ideal" world, only SF would be "advisors" on the ground (as far as Army is concerned). Delta are supposed to really be direct action. I would know more about all of this shit if it didn't pain me to think of what could've been if it wasn't for me contracting gastritis. My military dreams, along with 130 lbs of weight lost through proper diet and exercise, and all my gains, all taken from me in one fell swoop.
But enough about me and my crap life (I'm rich, yet highly dissatisfied with life and the concept of living), and time for more of you guys and your cool stories, I always enjoy a good story about people being demolished (remember a few stories my buddy told me about Djibouti) by Spec Ops

Damn son, wasn't trying to be that much of an ass (this is 4chan, after all, so I thought I was being quite tame). But that's fair Anon. Anyway, just you're aware: SF is really supposed to do the "advising" and working with local militias, natives, etc. where you can think of Delta (which I suppose is technically, on paper, a part of SF: SFOD-1) is more direct action (kind of the Army version of SEALS in a way).

Just remember that SF is all about "hearts and minds," where Delta is in and out. Hope that helps a bit. Oh, and MARSOC is basically the Corps' version of SF, only much much younger (like the Marines in general) and I believe they only recently got into JSOC.

The 75th isn't a bad place to spend some time when trying to get selected for SF or Delta, I actually have a friend who I was in scouts with way back who made it through RASP after being in the 82nd. He's trying to go SF in the next few years.
