I'm pretty hyped about some of the new ZT's. The 0055 (pic related) and 0460 in particular. I may pic up at lest the 0055 this summer.

I'm not sure how I feel about Cold Steel Immortal, I was looking at it the other day, I don't know if I love it or hate it. If I did not have so many knives on my want list, I would consider it. I am going to have to get something from the Drop Forge line, and possibly a Frenzy.

Other than that, I've not been supper in the loop about new knives lately.

hey /KTG/
which knife edge is the best for cutting flesh?

im aware it really doesnt matter all that much in the grand scheme of things, but i want to know if it /did/ matter what would it be?
>>
>>33446415

Scandi bevel.
>>
>>33446415
The best edge geometry for cutting soft mediums, and pretty much anything in general, is a zero flat grind. This means The edge is the entire width of the blade. For the most part, in most applications, modern steel is not strong enough to use this grind.

So the next best thing is a thin 0 convex grind, as thin as The steel can support the edge. However this is harder to sharpen and make for the average consumer/production.

Out of the ones on the list you provided I would go with the standard "V" bevel

In my opinion it's kind of a meme knife, there are more effective knives of that size you can get for the price. But yes it is a cool knife, and Tops have very solid build quality.

My problem with them however, is a problem with a lot of large choppers. Their edge, and in some cases (XM included) their grind, is way too thick. They don't bite into wood as much as they bounce off of it. It's one of the reasons I'm reprofiling my Ontario SP-10.

Not sure if you were the same guy I talked with before about Tops, so you may have seen this already, but these are two I sharpened for a customer this summer.
>>
>>33446488
Excellent knives. Some of them are a bit too mallninja for my taste, though. I have the ALRT XL03 and the .170 Machete. They're great. The machete is great for clearing brush, thick enough to split wood when camping, and an excellent choice for chopping palm trees up. The XL03 is a great little tool for prying and opening up packaging. It's my go to for opening up boxes and to use like an XActo hobby knife when I'm using materials too thick for the XActo (like some leathers and plastic sheeting). TOPS is an all-around great knife company.

Hello everyone, knife-noob here.
I edc a paramilitary 2 because some of you told me it's great a few years ago, and I love it, but it is not legal in my country because it's 7 mm longer, so that's the first reason I am looking for a new spyder.
But I spend my summers in Egypt and I want a knife that wouldn't mind saltwater (Because I don't trust arabs, not even when I am swimming in the sea).
So I am looking at the SALT 1 by spyderco, having watched a few youtube reviews (mostly shills), I got really confused.
So let me list my questions in hope, of you guys answering some:
Is the h1 steel a meme ?
Is it bad that it has no liners inside ?
Is the lock-back any good ?
Would it make a good edc knife in your opinion ?

>>33446922
H1 is cool. I personally have no experience with it. I've heard mixed reviews about it's edge retention, the general consensus is that it's very weak in that department, it will not even compare with the s30v in your PM2. The whole point of H1 though is that it is 100% rust proof, you can leave it in salt water for a year, it will still be shiny.

It not having liners is not "bad" considering the use of the knife. Most EDC knives do not need liners, in fact some liner less G-10 knives are strong enough that the blade or lock would break first.

The lock back is fine, once again, it's not a hard use knife. If your PM2's compression lock has worked for you, this will be fine.

I don't think H1 is good for you, it's more the kind of steel you would want to take sailing, or leaving in a boat/fishing box... not really an EDC steel.

Why not get a Paramilitary 3? They just came out this year. The are pretty much just a smaller PM2. Pic related is a PM2 (top) and a PM3 (bottom)

I would buy the PM3 but it would be kinda expensive because I live in Europe and it's not sold here, yet and importing from the US would be a (knife's price+shipping)*27%.
Also I am going for a more budget type of knife this time because edc-ing a knife has the risk of losing it.
I don't like liner locks btw.
The only two options I have left are the SALT 1 and the Delica 4. Today I had a visit a to my local knife dealer and I preferred the SALT for the blade shape, lightness, looks, handle pattern, bigger hole.
>>
>>33446699

yeah im the same guy thanks man
>>
>>33446922
>ia h1 steel a meme
no its completely rust proof.
>is it bad that is had no liners
if anything it makes the knife better.
liners are a meme with current technology
>lock back any good?
lock back is proven to be a decent locking system
>good edc?
hell yeah, i would definitely carry a spyderco,
>>
>>33446488
theyre nice knives make sure to read reviews on them though some have narrow/too small handles
>>
>>33447311
In that case, yeah sure, they are not bad knives by a long shot. I've almost bought a H1 Dragonfly a few times.

But like you said, there's also the Delica 4 and also consider taking a look at the Native 5.

hello /KTG/ i have a question

i live in the cucked state of Maryland,
where it states:
>You can open or conceal carry any sized pocket knife you wish.

so ive been carrying a 5 1/2 inch fully serrated CS talwar

but im prohibited from carrying a fixed blade

how badly would i get my shit packed in if i carried a 5 inch fixed blade in my boot?

slap on the wrist or fully raped by the law?
>>
>>33448210
Going into more detail
>You can not conceal carry a throwing star, dirk, switchblade, gravity knife, or bowie knife.

>You can not open carry a throwing star, dirk, switchblade, gravity knife, or bowie knife with the intent to harm someone.

so if i open carry pic related from above
>>33448210

and had to use it in self defense would i be fugged?

>>33448237
Why bother carrying it at all? A XL Talwar is far more capable of a defensive knife than than boot dagger. All that really matters is that it has a sharp edge, a sharp point, and most importantly is how big it is. And holding the XL Talwar in the pistol grip gives you a good few more inches of reach over that boot knife.

I have an XL Espada, and I would take it over just about any fixed blade I own if, for what ever crazy reason, I had to use a knife to defend my self.

But as for carrying a small dagger, I find the boot really inconvenient. I tried it for a while for the fun of it, was just uncomfortable. I ended up carrying a dagger (pic related, it's an old US made Gerber) in my waist band on my back.

As for the legality, I do not know. However I could see it argued as a "dirk" because it is double edged.
>>
>>33448835
well the talwar series was dropped from production in cold steels lineup, and its in very good shape,

so i want to retire my babies anjd get something new to carry, but thank you for the response, ill just go with an immortal or something,

the reason i wanted to carry it is because it seems more bad ass to me, the talwar just gets boring after a while,

Not usually a knife fag but I'd like to know if you've heard of a knife I inherited.

My WWII vet grandpa recently died of old age (it's sad, the man was a badass). Family gave me all his old gear and /out/ stuff because I'm the most into those hobbies. Alice pack and canteens and shit mostly, it's nothing I'll feel bad about taking out innawoods.

But the knife seems really good, it feels really solid and it's razor sharp. Looks almost like a Kabar, but older. Some quick Google Fu says it's a Western G46-8. I know it's pretty rare because people are selling it for upwards of $200. My question is, is it treasure-it-but-take-it-innawoods rare, or is it dont-you-dare-take-it-outside-or-damage-it rare? Is it good or just hype?

Tops knives are good quality, but most of their designs are stupid. Which is kind of okay, since they make so many different designs.

For a time, the TOPS, B.O.B. fieldcraft knife was the go-to blade for many people getting into bushcrafting and outdoors.

Unfortunately for TOPS, people then realised, that if you are going to pay $160+ for a knife, you might as well get something like an LT Wright (the LTWK genesis seems to be the current FOTM knife for many bushcrafters), or Battle Horse Knives (previously Blind Horse), or any number of custom makers.

If you want a big knife, then for around $200 you can get a Himalayan Imports kukri, or one from Tora Blades

I've said the same thing twice before... if you just want some machetes for the sake of having machetes, sure go ahead... If you actually want a good machete that you plan on using for more than just some yard cleaning, good machetes are not that much more expensive, like $20-$50 per will get you a really good machete that will suit your individual needs more.

>>33451593
Opinel's don't have 0 flat grinds, they have a secondary edge bevel. If you were to make an Opinel zero flat it would be only useful for the lightest of tasks, and even at that have very bad edge retention. I sharpened my Carbon Opinel at 15dps from box, was not impressed with the factory edge (Price considered it's fine).

>>33451540
As the others said, Ontario Rat 1, Kershaw Skyline, also consider the Kershaw Link and Leek, and Cold Steel Mediun Voyager. If you want to go really cheap the Kershaw OSO Sweet. If you don't mind spending more for a really good knife, the Cold Steel Code4.

>>33452522
That's a really good deal, I did not notice they came in D2 for that cheap. Although with D2, it's worth getting a coated blade.

Just wipe the blade every once in a while and used compressed air to blow them out.

its a completely different feeling knife. A lot mushier, harder to open, h1 doesnt hold an edge that well (only good for rust resistance)

spyderco just came out with many new models this year in the same price range that are smoother, better locks for closing and opening 1 handed and better steels for edc use.

Buy a pm3 from reddit knife_swap used and ask the shipper to mark it below 20 in the customs form. Or same deal on bladeforums.

You really save up on the money buying 2nd hand from a rated seller and talk with them before shipping.

Yeah I think it's one of the those love hate designs, I love it, but I understand why I've heard a fair number of people really dislike it. One of the big selling points for me however is it's flipper mechanism, how it's separate from the blade and retracts into the handle fully, I don't see this kind of design often.

>>33461142
You are pretty much describing Cold Steel to me. Look at their Voyager line (budget) and Recon 1 line (not too expensive, but more so), both come in 3 sizes, partial serrations, and have the Tri-aid lock which is a modified back lock.

I also highly recommend the Code4, it also comes in Tanto and serrations, I have a spear point one and love it. Pic related.

ok so i am looking at the Ontario Rat 1 because i like the looks of it and has good reviews. Not sure if i trust the locking mechanism it seems lighter duty than the frame lock i had on my Zancudo but oh well.

I looked it up on ebay and this place in China claims to sell them for $18. Is this really an Ontario or at least the same factory in china that makes the genuine RAT1?

>>33461694
As for Liner vs. frame, there is no inherent difference, all that maters is the duality and design of the interface (where the bar meets the tang of the blade, ideally 50%). The quality being; the angle of the interface, materials, and the lock up (how much overlap).

I have a RAT 1, it's plenty strong, more than strong enough for heavy EDC, it's actually one of my beater knives. Honestly "super strong locks" are kind of a meme, if you are using your knife responsibly, then you don't really need a lock at all, and if it has one and it breaks, you were probably doing something stupid. If lock strength is very important to you, consider Cold Steel, their Tri-ad (variation of a Back Lock) is truly among the strongest.

No that is a fake one, not actually made by Ontario, real ones are made in Taiwan. I never trust Chines clones, morality aside, they are all ready lying about what they are selling, so I don't trust them to not lie about build quality and material used. The one in the pic on Ebay has horrible lock up for example, that's only like 10-20%. The only semi okay one is the company Ganzo, they are pretty well reviewed, but even then I don't want to touch them. I think the extra $15 for a real one, and the warranty and quality screws that comes with that is well worth it.

I've yet to give one a try, they seem nice, and I've heard mostly good reviews of them. Yet to get any in hand though. Honestly none of the designs really catch my eye in particular, and the ones that do have something I don't like. Like the one you posted, as far as I can tell there is no way to adjust that pivot, nor a tool I can easily get to do that.

Of my few complaints however, some of their designs are a bit too close to the design language of established makers, and it would be at lest nice to give the respected makers a bit of a nod of "inspiration". But this is a minor thing.

I really like the 940-1, I've sharpened one for a customer and had a week to carry it. Not sure if I could bring my self to get a regular 940 after playing with the 940-1. But you are right it's very expensive and for the money I rather have other things right now.

Personally I don't see the PM2 and the 940 are direct competitors. For me the PM2 is a heavier use knife, and the 940 is more of a causal/dressy carry.

A nice collection of PM2s you have.

It's a Cutlery Shoppe exclusive, they had them around Halloween 2016. It also has CTS-XHP steel. I honestly bought it just to flip it at some point (was $175 new, a lot more now)... But it's grown on me. It's currently the only PM2 I have, I gave the Camo/black one to my bro.

The only PM2 I want to get is the burple s110v one. Maybe the ultimate PM2 (Carbon Fiber in CPM-M4) if I can find a good deal one day, but they are only going for like $400+ now a days.

What do you think of the new PM3? idk why I was expecting more than just an alternative size... I guess there's really not much more improvements to make on the design with out a change in price,.

Yeah I've considered that, it's one of those knives that I wish I was able to handle before buying, but I'm not going to be able to.

At first I thought it would not be very ergonomic, but if it's the scale I think it is, it maybe pretty good actually.

Looking at pic related, my autistic analysis:
1) looks long enough for my palm, and has a nice curve to it.
2) If this edge is radiused well enough and not too tall from the spine, it should not be a hot spot.
3) The corner over the lanyard hole looks well rounded, and assuming #1 is long enough, my palm will not be on it in standard grip. Actually looks like a Kershaw Skyline to me here but with less angle.
4) I'm hoping this area is long enough for my pointer and middle finger. If so, they should wrap around there pretty well.
5) Even with the angle back, this should fit my ring and pinkie finger well. If you smooth out the transition from 4 to 5, it looks like the curve you see on a lot of more ergonomic fixed blades. I'm hoping they will sit on the ledge and the grove texture will give some traction.

But I'll have too see when I get it in hand.

You more than likely know as much or more than I know about this particular knife, but to try and be helpful:

I don't know much about the history of them, other than the have been around since at lest WW2 and, Kabar and Camilus were two of the larger makers, but the Government had them made by a lot of companies.

Now a days the most popular version of that knife is called the USMC Ka-Bar, the company being Ka-Bar. But also Cold Steel, Ontario, ect... make a version of them.

So if you want one to dick around with and not worry about destroying a piece of history, the classic Kabar is around $70 new.

It's of a pattern that EVERY knifemaker used to make, you can still see it from Buck, Kabar, Ontario, Cold Steel, and probably more manufacturers that I can't remember. There isn't much special about it other than that Western no longer exists and your grandfather owned it, I'd stick it in a case for the latter reason alone. Western made some nice shit, so it'll stand up to use if that's what you decide to do with it.

Your state laws aren't terrible (standard MUH GRAVITY KNIVES AND DAGGERS AND BOWIES) but I'd be concerned about county laws, make sure to look those up for wherever you work and anywhere you travel through.

I think a Ti-Lite is a good option, in many states such blades can't be considered daggers unless you sharpen the false edge although I don't know if this is the case in MD. You should probably also get pepper spray just to have another option.

Question; why do we not have cheaply accessible space flight?

It is because, at lest for the most part, modern technology is not advanced enough. Even though modern technology is the best technology we have, it is not good enough for mass space flight.

There are many things we can conceive of, and almost emulate, but can not make reality with current technology.

So I'll say it again;
>For the most part, in most applications, modern steel is not strong enough to use this grind.
And I'll ad to it; with in the dimensions of normal knives. Obviously you can make a 0 flat work if it's thick enough, but completely negates the point of it.

>engaging in fisticuffs with an attacker and the trying to get your knife out of your nickers

it's called "I'm going to walk through this parking garage now and I don't have a gun for some reason so if some nigger walks up asking for the time to steal my phone my dominant hand already has a pocket knife in it and when I tell him to fuck off and he tries to swing at me I'll jam it between his ribs a few times"

it takes about 1/4-1//2 a second to deploy a knife with a flipper. I walk around with a drop point one in my pocket and frequently hook my thumb over it at rest or while walking. when I was an edgy teen it was for self defense, now it's just a force of habit since I use my pocket knife so much at work.

short brutal thrusts against an attacker who doesn't know you have/had a knife is how you effectively kill someone with a knife. you aren't defending. a knife has no utility defending. a knife fight has no winner, but an attacker can be put down with a knife.

compound bevel with a convex or concave edge depending on sharpening tool and personal preference

what I did to a cheap pocket knife was put 2 bevels: a really acute ~10 degrees and then a ~16 degree secondary edge blending into it with the original knife primary bevel supporting both. sharpened on a paper wheel so hollow ground. Pretty much a bootleg appleseed edge that will shave hair off your arm like no ones business and can cut a 8x11 sheet of paper in half with an unsupported push cut.

.... I've looked, I can't find what you are talking about. Emerson is known for chisel grinds. I saw a few that kind of looked like some sort of Scandi Chisel grind. They may have a relief bevel though.

>>33471375
>>33470762
Let me re-establish what a zero flat is. The edge is the entire blade. It is flat from the spine to apex. Take a Scandi grind (like on a Mora) and instead of 10dps, draw the bevel to the spine, it will probably be under 2dps, I don't feel like doing the math now. Or take a FFG knife and completely remove the bevel.

In pic related. Look at the one titled, "Zero Grind Saber" that but the grind goes all the way to the spine. The "convex" in this picture can also be called a Zero Convex. I have two knives that are zero convex, made by Gavko.

Its actually a "D-shaped" handle which is sort of a weird teardrop shape which fits into your hand nicely. The white steel is awesome, holds a very sharp edge for a very long time, i sharpened mine when i first got it, and have not sharpened it since then which was around 2 years ago. it is a simple high carbon steel though which will form a patina or rust if you dont take care of it, i just rinse and wipe it down when i'm finished and have not had any issues.

>>33476113
>worth the extra 100$
Absolutely not if you just want it as a tool. If you are a steel snob, or a Benchmade/Grip fan, than sure go ahead. In real world use the edge retention (I would talk about Stability, but the factory edge is thick enough), will not be significantly better. Also consider sharpening, unless you are decently well practiced in sharpening and can handle a high carbide steel, or willing to send it to a sharpener, you may have some problems.

>>33476606
I sold it a while back. It's pretty much just a Delica (small Endura) with an alternative blade shape. As far as back locks go, it's pretty smooth, but very firm compared to liner/axis/frame/compression/ect locks. The blade play is there, but is pretty minimal. As long as blade play is small enough, I don't let it bug me, because there are very few knives I've ever handled that have no blade play at all.

The handle is very ergonomic for the size. And the centering was good on mine, but it's very pivot screw dependent. Also, consider you can't take the knife apart, but it does not seem to be a problem given the design.

I would recommend it, I just sold it to make room in my pelican case.
>>
>>33476113
20CV is a great steel but it's still overpriced as fuck being a Benchmade. If you don't want the thumbhole too bad you could get the Ritter Grip from KnifeWorks, that is if they're still in stock. M390 at a better price, it looks slightly different and recently got discontinued, but it should still fit regular Grip aftermarket scales.

They weren't always this way. In fact the /ktg/ has only been running for about a year and a half. Before then it was like 2 years since we'd had a knife thread here, because they eventually became cancer. When /ktg/ was just starting out it was friendly and good. Then a lot of namefags came around and started dissing brands and starting mall ninja wars, and now we have this.
>>

>started dissing brands and starting mall ninja wars
Where?

How come it seems like most the namefags in this thread are friendly and informative? Besides a few (like the Hunter crap), these treads seem to be pretty friendly to me.
>>
>>33478500
>Where?

You mean "who," and the answer is SOGfag.

He came in with that Dr. House 'I know better than everyone and that's why it's OK that I'm an asshole' attitude but it didn't fly because he didn't know shit, dude even admitted to samefagging with his name off and, IIRC, "weeks of shitposting." There was also fake Sharps, who I'm pretty sure was just SOGfag.

Things are better now that he doesn't come here that often (he now posts under a different name) but his arrival was the start of a downward spiral, a lot of people stopped posting here after he showed up. Not that this is a new thing mind you, this series of knife generals is just one of many over the years and all of them were ruined in the same way. Go to any general on 4chan and I guarantee that they'll have at least one tripfag/namefag that shits up everything every time they show up. /dsg/ and /bbg/ have Lucifer, the legitimate pokemon trading thread had Sara/Injectorbro/the 100 other names "she" used. Dan used to shit up /arg/ here on /k/, no idea if he's still around.

I don't know what it is about generals that attracts people like that.
>>
>>33478500
>>33478740
Maybe these threads attracts them because it's a closer group of people, in some ways that makes it easier to 'stir the pot'. These kinds of threads are the only ones where I recognize people, named or not, I remember knives in their collection, recommendations they have given, and things they want. That's why I use a name in only these kinds of threads, I like seeing peoples collections and opinions change over time, they feel less like an anonymous board here.

Because of all of you fags, I just bought a k55k on Amazon. These threads make me look at the classics a lot more. Normally knife "communities" tend to be more focused on one particular thing, they are more likely to be an echo-chamber.

I don't know much about larp... I would assume you would want a dull knife right? Or do you mean just to play around with. Well either way, I bought this Recon Tanto in San Mia III because I love the look of it, and I wanted to try out Cold Steel's San Mia III. For functionality the one in CPM-3v is superior. But if you just want a cheap, but very well made tanto to play with, the Cold Steel Kubon is a really great knife.

But something to consider. The American Tanto point is good at stabbing because it's really strong and makes large wound. You can get far better penetration with other point shapes, a thin double edge dagger being the best.

It's a classic design, I would say pretty good for a first EDC, 420ch is a good steel to learn how to sharpen on as well. That and Swiss Stainless is what I learned on. Although as far as functionality goes, a pocket clip and one hand opening does make a big difference.

>>33483008
P'kal is a really cool knife, I just think it's way too small to be a real defensive knife. That's one area where size is pretty much 80% of the matter, followed by deployment speed, good enough lock, having a sharp edge and point, conceal-ability, and lest important being blade shape.

Is that a Sebenza 25? It's going to take me a long time to warm up to the shape, it's an almost complete change of design language from the 21.
>>
>>33483236
As a "last ditch" weapon, I think the p'kal is about perfect. An extra inch or two isn't going to make much difference in the kind of skirmish where I pull the knife rather than a primary weapon.

The problem is that people think there's only one kind of combat and therefore only one kind of perfect combat knife, when really there are multiple scenarios that involve force and different knives that are optimal.
>>
>>33484148
Yeah these laminated ZPD-189 Eagle HDs come in black and tan normally (I think they are production), and the Blue and Orange were Cuttlery Shoppe exclusive.

It's a great light EDC for it's length, and it's very well made, and very elegant looking. But, it's far from perfect, and unless you are looking for a slim long light use knife, you can do a hell off a lot better for the price.

The biggest issue is how thick the grind is. I spent a LOT of time (hours) thinning that 64hrc ZPD-189 to 17 degrees (dps), and even then I got a bit lazy and did not finish near the tip. Given how thin the blade is (edge to spine) and the bayonet grind, it is not the best of slicers, especially when compared to other 4" blades in the same price range like my Ti Military (pic related). I've heard very good things about the flat grind one, but they have yet to make a ZPD-189 one (that I know of), and it does not look as cool.

Other than that I have two minor complaints. It has a fair amount of rock back (how far the blade can pivot past the lock point) compared with other lock backs. Even compared with an Al Mar Hawk (see >>33479904) that I had in for sharpening. It's not a bad thing, but considering the price, it could be better. And the pocket clip has a touch of wiggle since it is mounted by one screw, but it's not something I notice normally, and it looks nice.

It sounds like I hate the thing, but I actually love it. If you are a fan of the design, by all means, it's worth it, and you will probably cherish it. But as far as practicality goes, you can do better.
>>
>>33484423

Yeah I have tons of practical knives. I've wanted an Al Mar for over 15 years now and just never got one. I still do because they are pretty collectable, and this one made me almost jump at it because I felt like the steel finally justified the high price.
>>
>>33484474
Sounds like it's the knife for you.

Right now the only Al Mar that I'm really considering is the Honey Bone flat grind Eagle, it's just very pretty, and would be a great dress knife. Maybe a Hawk, but I just tend not to carry small knives.

So does anyone her take any interest in balisongs?

I realize they're good for nothing but tricks, so no need to go on about that. I was just wondering if this was the right place for them.

I don't think this is the wrong place for them, I just don't see too many people bring them up in these threads. But maybe there are a few people who are into them here, you never know, I find a surprisingly diverse group of knife enthusiast in these ktg threads.

I personally do not have too much of an interest in them, I've only handled a few, and nothing of much quality. I only know the very basics of flipping them. I've considered buying a nice one, like a Benchmade, just to have, but it's low on my list.

Thank you for the input. I actually plan on picking up the Doug Ritter as well as the sheepsfoot because I like them both. I was just curious as to whether 20CV was that premium or if it's just Benchmade's overpricing in general.

I've been learning how to use them and I was hoping I wasn't alone here in liking them.

What's the kershaw next to the bm?
>>
>>33485673
Damascus Skyline with carbon fiber scales.
>>
>>33485694
Ok, my bad, I should've clarified. The OTHER Kershaw. The one that's next to the bm that's next to the mercator. It looks like a ZT, but it has a Kershaw clip, and I don't think I've seen that model before, and I'm kinda digging it
>>
>>33485005
>I realize they're good for nothing but tricks
They're like karambits in the sense that they were actually originally designed for utility use, but became fads as a result of exotic orientalism fads and tv/movie/video games. This led to people decrying them as shit due to mall ninjas hyping them up.

I like Michael Janich's balisong videos. They're pretty well down with slow mo and multiple angles so you can see how the tricks are done.
>>
>>33485707
That is actually a ZT 0450. I wanted to get a deep carry clip but they were out of the ZT ones when I contacted KAI.

Hey Sharps. Did you see the ring backspacer someone made for matriarch, delica, and endura? Turns them into wave karambits. Thought it was kinda neat. Saw it on instagram a few days ago. Made by Wise Men Company...

If you shop online, finding mags and extensions is easy. Gun stores are almost always sold out when I go in looking, and if not, they're still ridiculously expensive.

When did they make a 0630cf, or are those custom scales? I don't recall. I've considered the 0620cf before but ideally I want the 0630 blade shape, and with the CF.

You considering any of the new ZT's, I really like the 0055 and 0460

Not a custom scale. Pretty sure they discontinued the 0630CF because ZT's been having trouble with getting M390 steel. The 0620CF was also made with M390 but they discontinued that and started producing the 0620CF in CTS-204P, but I think the halted production entirely for the 0630CF. I paid $240 for mine from a dealer on Amazon. It was one of the last four in stock. Awesome low serial number 0134. The 0620CF I got is in CTS-204P and has a high serial #4531, which I paid $200 for.

Unless they're still on Amazon, you'll have to wait and buy/bid on a used one on eBay.

It's my first blade in M390, and so far, it's living up to the hype. I'm very pleased with it.

As for the new ones, yeah, great minds think alike, I have my eyes on those and the 0850, though I'll be surprised if I can pony the dough for that one. I know the 0850 is an odd design, but that's the appeal. It functions and looks like something from science fiction.

I'm debating on which to get next between those, another 0452cf just because I like it so much and my bro is supposed to buy my current one, and the Spyderco Vallatton and Szabo.

So many knives, so little money...

Shit steel, decent design. The scandi grind might be more difficult for EDC usage because it's harder to sharpen and it was designed for bushcraft. That said you won't want to use it for that because the steel is so very bad.

Yeah it was the same story with the 0562cf, first came in M390, and then shortly switched to CTS-204p. I got mine shortly after the switch. Honestly, I don't really consider CTS-M390, both are very high end high carbide steels and act similarly.

>So many knives, so little money...
Know the feel, I have literal hundreds of knives in different wishlists on different sites. Meanwhile I'm a middle class college fag, all my knives have to be paid for via sharpening.

>>33488425
I completely disagree. I have a crap tone of experience with Cold Steel's AUS8a, they do a good job with it, as far as budget steels go it is one of the better ones. And the whole point of the Scandi zero flat grind is that it's super easy to sharpen, it takes little to no practice. My girlfriend has no problem sharpening her Mora Companion, and she has no prior experience.

>>33489078
Well a little cringe, but KOA is a very good retailer, one of the best in America, and Hanwei is a pretty good budget friendly sword manufacture. I have a Katana from them, and a handful of knives from their (now closed) knife branch, Rock Creek.
