Use a copper brush.

Once you get it clean the first time, it's not so bad.

Getting it clean the first time was about 80 patches for me, both sides.

>dump more solvent down it

my nugget was a re-arsenal-ed 1943 Izhevsk M91/30. So it was pretty clean, except some bits of cosmoline the gun store did clean off, adn the chamber burrs that cause sticking bolt.
