Have a question about G3/PTR91.... it's getting harder and harder to chamber a round in mine. Has yet to jam or not go through a mag, but just loading the first round is becoming difficult. I just cleaned it and ran it this weekend. Any thoughts? Pic is my rifle, although there is many like it, this one is mine.

mine freaked me out because it got hard to load like that, then i just went full retard on the oiling and its fine

Your charging handle pin is probably backing out and rubbing on the inside of the cocking tube.

If you take the bolt carrier out, does the charging handle support move freely through the tube, or do you feel resistance?
>>
>>33432619
Have not tried that.... when I put it back together I felt no resistance. About the same as putting the bolt carrier group back in my AR
>>
>>33432602
Did you just oil the area around the charging handle or did you oil the carrier group...or both?
>>
>>33432540
Don't store it on the ceiling like that.

Oh boy

>it's getting harder and harder to chamber a round in mine.

Need more info to help you. Is the BCG not going into battery? Are you having trouble cocking the handle back? Will the mag too hard to insert?

What?

Def sounds like something in the cocking tube.My PTR had a cracked (pic related) which was dragging on the inside of the tube and making it damn near impossible to charge. Pop the pin and pull that part out and inspect it
>>
>>33432540
I think I have something similar going on in mine. It got continually worse until now the bolt gets jammed about halfway back. The charging handle is free to move independently

It's like you want get your family killed in a home invasion by aliens.

>>33432801
never bothered with the charging handle, just lubed everything on the carrier that had any signs of friction, and several drops in the rollers, then worked the action and let it sit standing up
>>
>>33432619
>>33432540
Don't do this >>33433317 op, you will regret it. Double check and make sure the charging handle moves freely when you have the rifle disassembled. If it does, it's probably the locking spring tab thing that's a pain in the Ass, if it doesn't then check and see if there is any problem with the piece that guy I told you not to listen to said. If it is cracked, take that shit to a gunsmith.

was the resistance even or did it go smoothly for a couple inches and then jam up?

Doesn't PTR offer a warranty on their parts?
>>
>>33433537
Yes
>>
>>33433464
You have to be literally retarded to not be able to change that piece out yourself.

When my chipped it mostly stayed with the other piece but would randomly catch on the tube. There was really no consistency
>>
>>33432540
Check the bolt gap. You may need a larger roller to adjust for wear.
>>
>>33434700
Mine looks good, and slides fine w/ the bolt
Thanks for your help man
>>
Anyone else have issues pulling the charging handle off it's folded down state on a G3 clone? From what I understand, that unlocks the rollers, but my PTR stays good and stuck unless I pull hard enough that my hand slips off. What would cause that?
>>
>>33432540
When I used this as a service weapon, having them properly greased usually sorted most things.

Unless you plan on going on punching holes in paper you might as well keep it properly oiled up.
>>
>>33435730
*going out punching holes in paper in subzero temps, boy I am tired.
>>
If you don't have it, yall need to get an extended, rubber coated, 21E style charging handle. PTR use to include them but as of the past year or so started using the all metal cheapo CETME ones. There is no leverage, they chew the fuck out of your hand, and they make it feel like 75lbs to charge.
