Any advice on getting an antique Japanese sword from ww2 or older?
I'd like to own an authentic one but the only places i've found are museum pieces for sale with high prices or on ebay.

>I want a 70+ year old piece of history that also happens to be sought after by many people and of which few examples even exist. I also want to be able to find this object locally or through a respectable online retailer but I refuse to pay a large sum of money for it.
4Chan is an 18+ website. Take this childish dribble elsewhere.

How much are you willing to pay?

>authentic
>world war 2
You mean that era when resources were in such short supply because of the war effort that both Allied and Axis forces were doing desperate shit like melting down recycled soup cans and shit to make weapons? You'd be better off buying some "battle ready" mall ninja katana from the internet somewhere. It won't be quite as likely to rust and fall apart like everything else the Japanese made during WW2.

Early-war Nip gear wasn't bad.

Ideally $1k or under, i wouldn't mind getting just a bare blade and getting the rest recreated.

Well sure but you'd also have to get it professionally appraised. You have any idea how many counterfeits there are on the internet? The goddamn Chinese will counterfeit everything from cars to cigarettes. Appraisal would probably cost as much as the damned sword.

Better get a good repro

RIA Premeir Auction in May actually has a bunch of Japanese Swords. From mass produced WWII models and Family Heirlooms re-handled to fit into WWII style Army to 16th Century documented swords.

You get better results if you search use terms like "shin-gunto" or the Imperial Japanese Army Officer Sword, or "kyu-gunto" or the Imperial Japanese Navy Officer Sword. It helps if you do some research on what kind of model you want, as well as helping you identify what's authentic or what's not.

You have better luck finding an authentic item from actual militaria websites that also sells German, Russian, and American militaria. If you don't mind the look of parade swords or the bayonets, they're a lot cheaper, less than 1000 USD. Unless you intend to get the ones from 1945, be prepared to delve out around 2000 USD.

There's a lot of sites out there. Like I said, just look for key words and do a lot of digging. I don't think you can just buy a WWII sword. You're more than likely going to look at other shit too, like the Japanese flags taken from the bodies of soldiers, hinomaru yosegaki. I personally don't have any Japanese militaria myself, but I meant to. I do have a lot of German, mostly Third Reich awards and patches.
