The rarest piece of gear that I have
Did somebody say Multimeme?
Removed the shoulder pads because I didnt like them. Still working on AR and sidearm. Not really much left to add on the kit, just planning on getting a proper tournique pouch, and maybe another BFG pouch.

Welcome to /GQ/
>>33415452
I edc this pack, but it has a different name on it. It's not bad for the $10 or so it cost. I've had it for about 8 months, I expect I'll get about a year out of it.

Sometimes you gearfags albeit the vet ones, just come off as pretentious faggots who never served in combat or military, so they need to play soldier to compensate for their inexperience. Just a mere observation
>>33416948
I bet you have a condor plate carrier and a PTAC AR
>>33416968
I have a Banshee and a Middy PSA with FN CHF barrel. I'm out of shape and semi injured anyway so it doesn't really matter. Guess I can be support by fire, just give me MREs. I do have a condor laying around somewhere with soft armor in it for shits and giggles tho

Does anyone else have a problem with the threads on Crye uniforms completely falling the fuck out like woven spaghetti after 2 washes or is it just me?
>>33417237
It's a PSA premium, not that it really matters because of the obsession with "Gucci" rollmarks. It'll do everything Gucci ARs do in combat, which is exactly why I purchased it. Don't give a fuck if it doesn't give some random anons a hard-on on a Cambodian Carpet weaving board sunny boy, it functions well and shoots accurately

They do man. I live in SC, and the AR market is bottoming out hardcore here because of PSA. People can't give their ARs away on Armslist. PSA forever changed the market Dynamics for ARs, even if we hit another gun scare in a few years, thx to PSA we'll never see those crazy prices again, unless you're in a cuck state
>>33417749
naw that dude fell through on me. sucked, but it was too hopeful to get free comtacs

>>>/asg/
>>33418336
It's the truth my man. Talking about picking up pussy is one thing, but this is /k/ and in a gearthread. Taller person's make easier targets of opportunity in a combat roll. You'll expose yourself far more often than someone of a smaller frame. Half you lanky fucks who hang out here are weird as fuck anyway in real life I'm sure and you're probably still virgins even with a height advantage. Many such cases. Sad
>>33418387
are you at war rn or are you larping in a gear thread?
>>33418386
What's wrong with SPOSN? Is it shit quality stuff that Russians use because their military wages are shit, or is it actually decent? Serious question, because I've seen people defending it and people bashing it.
>>33418403
What the fuck even is a gear thread, if not just a bunch of wannabes hoping to be tested in combat? Let's be real here, it'd be like a board of doctors/medical assistants posting their medical tools, but never intend to use them. I'll always love /k/ but sometimes the groupthink masks inexperience bigly
What's the 3M respirator that's /k/ approved again? Need to purchase one for work, figured I might as well get one ya'll like.
>>33417291

>>33418460
That makes it easy, thanks!
>>33418407
SPOSNs good stuff.
>Is it shit quality stuff that Russians use because their military wages
Russian mil stuff is also pretty good (as far as issued gear goes)
>>33418470
Get in shape, dude. Also, why would you die? All you have to do is lay down.
>>33418496
>Get in shape dude
Yah I know I need to. I'd die because if I wanna fuck her properly I need to be on top and work that shit to my place, so with my gear on I'd probably have a heart attack or heat stroke hah
>>33418373
Yeah it's SPOSN, I also have a SPOSN taco type mag on the way.
>>33418386
ya nah
>>33418407
I was just fucking around, but if you ask for my real opinion, I think the new fabric they're using is dog shit compared to the older khaki codura they were using.
The gorkas that they sell civvie market their canvas they make their gorkas out of is airshit tier, and doesn't pass millreg
overall they still make a great kit, but in my opinion, it isn't what it used to be.

>>33418620
Bars makes a great Gorka and that's about it if you ask me.
but I also got one of those synthetic fabric florae bars jackets, it's too hot for field use, but damn does it not make for a good bathrobe in the dead of winter when you're too cheap to turn on the heater.

Also for a board that hate trips, you sure make it difficult to post without one.
so a few threads ago i asked about what helmets fit my giant dome. i wrapped a tape measure just above my brows to the point at the back of my skull, and i'm getting 24.5". my HGU-55/P i'm pretty sure is an XL, but PBG does tend to make you have to bump up a size. skull's about 6" wide, and 8" long.
so yes, i have a massive head.

I'm guessing around 5 foot 2
I have an opportunity to buy two FSBE MAPs.

That's what the seller told me, his asking price is $50 each. I'm on the fence because they aren't actually Eagle, they were contracted out to some resource center for people with disabilities. Do you guys consider medical shears worth the weight to carry? It seems like just using a single edge knife turned away from the body would do just as well if not better for removing clothes.
>>33425981
They weigh almost nothing.
>>33417268
>some of the nicest clothing in the business.
made in china, just like all the other shit half it's price.
>>33426011
Go run a mile. Boom you lost the weight it would have weighed.
>>33426083
only select items are made elsewhere. the Goretex stuff is made in Canada, and the new combat uniforms will be made in America as per berry compliance, even so they have probably the highest QC in business and you can get factory seconds for great prices.
also lifetime warranty beats any of that cheaply made chinkshit
>>33426084
>>33426011
I'm not saying it is an incredible inconvenience, mostly just asking if anyone has experience cutting clothing with a utility knife verses medical shears would say the shears are sufficiently advantageous to warrant inclusion in our kits or not, after all they are quite a bit larger and heavier than other items in most medical kits and not bringing them easily makes room for more airseal bandages/quickclot sponges/israeli bandage/etc.

Not really. You can spend the same on a gay Condor rig and you'll be better off. It's gay but it works. Or just shop ebay for used shit.

I have a large garbage full of unworn A2CU flight suits, local Army-Navy store wouldn't even look at them.

>>33426364
With mbavs, is there a separate slot for the soft armor and plates?
>>33426518
It's not durability, it's just sorta garbage compared to modern stuff. I've had one of these for years, never really gave me trouble except all of those mag bungees have fallen off at one point or another, not really a big deal if you have shock cord around. One of the few things I've never even considered selling http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tactical-Battlelab-Low-Vis-Rack-Chest-Rig-/192139855642?hash=item2cbc6d871a:g:g5EAAOSwax5YsHWb

No, just one pocket for the plate and soft armor. The pockets are basically the same size as the panels as they are meant to take MBAV cut soft armor.

>>33427134
Yes, the top part of the plate is constrained by the upper part of the panel. There is also a strap that helps limit the plate's movement. I have added a picture for further reference. It actually works quite well.

What's a good sub 100$ flashlight that can illuminate well and maybe be used as a weapon light?
Thanks queers
>>33427743
Surefire 6P
>>33427743
If you just want a hand light, grab a Maglite XL50, I use it for work, the on light clip clips onto my belt really securely (Survived many a scuffle without falling off so far) and it fits into most universal flashlight pouches because it's just a tube, love it.
>>33427543
It's a fairly simple plate carrier, so it's pretty decent in terms of comfort but could be better. My shoulders ache after wearing it for several hours with full armor (happens with most of my carriers). The main deciding factor for comforts falls down to what shoulder pads you use. I bought the carrier new without pads and went with Eagle FBI/MMAC shoulder pads, since a standard set of MSAP pads was 100 to 200 bones due to people jacking up the price because reenactors were buying them up. I plan on trying out HSGIs gel shoulder pads with it in the near future to see if I can improve the comfort.
>>33418278
>>33418599
Yes, it's a Diamondback Tactical commanders illuminated arm board. The glow is a bit softer than what the camera shows. I mainly bought it because they're so rare and make a good conversation piece. It's a pretty niche piece of gear, so I honestly don't really have a specific use for it other than using it for a Battlefield 4 US engineer cosplay which was an afterthought.
>>33427861
It says only 100 lumens though, I was thinking more in the 200-400 level, I've seen 20$ flashlights advertising levels higher and I'm not sure what to think.
>>33427283
:^)
>>33427283
You mean the New York Times?
>>33428079
Yeah those $20 flashlights that are 1000 lumens and also will kill a mugger with their tactical 5.11 endorced nutnfancy branded tactical case generally suck. Buy a good brand. The throw on my XL50 on high is pretty fucking far, like it throws about the same distance as my TLR1HL but without the flood that the HL has and slightly less bright at that distance (Longest distance I have to test it at out side my house is like 300 or 350 feet) The only light I have that I like better in terms of beam is either the HL, which is a 700 lumen flood of light out to insane distances, or my LED Insight M3x which throws this perfect circle of light out to similarly insane ranges.
TLDR, lumens is a number, how the reflector in the light performs makes or breaks the light. Buy a good solid brand that won't break itself by existing.
If you want I'll pop outside when I let the dogs out and take a picture of the beam next to my TLR1 HL or something
>>33427833
That's not luminous at all according to stats, anything much brighter?
>>33428079
Oh and obviously the TL1HL is brighter than the XL50 but they both have similar throws, biggest difference I notice is at real far range the HL has better illumination, but mostly it has crazy wide flood. If you want to illuminate 3 football fields away buy a swag ass Surefire 500 lumen thingy or something crazy that costs lots of money, otherwise, XL50 or similar is fantastic. Streamlight is another brand you want to check out. I used to rock the stylus pro in my pocket 24/7, 50 lumen but good throw, indestructible light. Seriously indestructible. I haven't really put the XL50 to the test yet but some mad bitch faggot at my job grabbed it when it was on a stool and pegged it at a concrete wall pretty hard, scratched the paint on it and that's it.
>>33428342
Lumens doesn't equal throw, the reflector in the light makes all the difference. I had a 90's 6P on my ye olde schoole black hawk down carbine build and it threw fine, it just wasn't as bright as other lights at the range.
What do you guys think about this camo that supposedly works best when the enemy is using NODs? A local surplus shop near me had a few ponchos in this pattern and I was tempted to pick one up because I love ponchos and the pattern is very interesting to me.
Anyone have any more gear with this pattern? It reminds me a lot of the german rain camo, in that it's interesting and aesthetically pleasing to the point that it doesn't actually look like milsurp to the average person.
Does anyone have the pic of that dude with his night desert parka with the sleeves cut up a bit?
>>33428482
It was a failure because it worked terribly to stop detection from NODs, which was the entire reason it was designed.
>>33428482
Clothing works best against a nod equipped enemy when the clothing has an IR treatment. When are you planning on fighting a nod equipped enemy? Otherwise, it looks cool
>>33428482
Sucks against NODs, but man, desert night pattern looks so good.
>>33428507
>>33428512
I know it's obsolete, but it's actually a very interesting idea, it marks a cool point in time in history where some of the massive advancements we had make technologically since WWII were really starting to come back and be an actual threat to our troops, like NODs. No vietnamese person had NODs, and they barely existed outside of very select circles before that. I think it speaks to the nature of the first gulf war being a war that brought the US back to a type of war it was good at: between established nations with dedicated militaries and fighting for a people that wanted and supported them.

What would you guys recommend for a low profile molle belt?
>>33428600
they are cheap just get a tailor
>>33428691
Tyr Tactical Gunfighter
AWS Lab belt
Ronin Tatics Senshi
>>33428600
That looks pretty cool
>>33428569
Are you the one that is always trying to defend that camo, every time it's uselessness gets brought up?
>>33428710
I have a 2 inch belt right now with no molle that I just strap some of my pouches to, but they fit loosely and hang/dangle off to the side. Do I just have shitty off-spec pouches you think?
>>33428777
Well your attaching it with 2in of play, right so I mean if you had a molle belt, then you would loop the pouch through via malice clips or MOLLE. Either way most of the belts I mentioned have 2 rows of MOLLE, so your pouch would connect via that. If you have a 2in belt now that slick, with no molle, then yeah pouches are just gonna kinda 'slide' on it. You can ghetto rig some velcro, to the pouch and then on the belt where youd like it placed.
Personally id just recommend getting a belt with MOLLE.
>>33428770
I don't think so, this is the first time I've posted in this kind of thread. Was just wondering what you guys thought about it. I mainly like it because it's surplus military gear, but the pattern is just low-key enough that you don't look like a total weirdo walking around in public.
>>33428813
I was just confused because I figured routing it around a 2in belt would be the same as routing it through 2in of molle, but I guess it would probably end up better that way. It's not so much that they slide around, just that they lean outwards from the belt at an angle because it's not tight enough.
>>33428823
Low key public camo here, is real tree and mossy oak, which is kind of ironic, since it's an attempt to print your actual environment as a pattern and not just a general pattern.
>>33428835
Im unsure exactly what you mean, but youtube how to properly weave molle, you have to weave it in and out of the pouch and then the belt, thats what makes it tight and secure. If you just put it through without weaving It wont be as secure.
>>33428770
>>33428823
Night Desert Camo is still effective against NVGs only when direct moonlight is shining on them and under shadows.
Otherwise it is mediocre in other conditions. For desert conditions in the middle east its not very good. For desert conditions where there is a lot of shade from rock formations and cliffs, it works better.
>>33427494
You paid money to put the product you paid for in the dumpster. You're an especially retarded faggot even by four Chan standards. Kill yourself
>>33429019
How does it work exactly? With older gen NODs, depth perception is an issue (especially with monocular type devices). I'm guessing this camo somehow creates an optical illusion that "flattens" the wearer when viewed through NODs, making them harder to pick up out of the backdrop. That's just speculation though, I really have no idea what it's supposed to do.
>>33429073
Pretty sure the lines on the cloth are supposed to fuck with the tracking on the nightvision. Worked well enough against gen 1 and 2 (?) NODS but pretty mediocre against modern stuff. Awesome pattern
>>33429073
Not sure. It seems to be the reflection that causes it to do so well. Shadows give it a boost, direct moonlight wont make it reflect more than it should.
Ironically it does better in grassy or wooded areas where there is more grey than tan.
>>33429229
For what is worth the Night desert can defeat AN/PVS-14s under the shadows. So Russian stuff would need to be Gen 3 or above to get to the 14's level.
>>33417095
Holy shit please dont tell me you paid more than $50 for chinkshit.
>>33428691
Tyr Brokos or whatever, or a Crye Blast if you're feeling spendy.
>>33429257
So can ACUs in the right conditions, it's about the IR signature treatment. Until pretty recently, and still here and there pending the unit, russians used/use lots of American NODs. I doubt they have white phosphorus yet but hey you never know with the higher level guys like SSO.
