>finally got my interest free loan back
>$352
>want a .22lr handgun
>am fine with hunting through pawn shops for used ones
What get? I wouldn't mind a DA revolver but they seem to be completely new nonexistent in todays market. My buddy has an old 10 shot high standard, is it worth hunting one of those down? I'd like it if the barrel wasn't below 3".

Is this bait?

Interest free loan = Tax return.

High standard maybe around 400 my man. look at local shops and fudds or online sales sources if you have any forums

What is it FOR?

Plinking and maybe carrying while I hunt grouse and other assorted birds so I can pick off other ground based small game (mostly squirrels) without damaging them as much.

I think the highstandards might be a little out of your prices range but you may be able to snag one if you look awhile. I found a somewhat under the radar auction site that seems to have them up fairly regularly along with a bunch of other back of grandpas closet type guns:

Taurus pt-22 goes for about 200 bucks
Then you have the Walther p22 that's about 350 new.

Put out a hat and tap dance on the sidewalk for change until you've saved up enough over your $352 to buy a Ruger SR-22
You could get one of the Ruger auto .22s with with the cylindrical receiver and the cocking grips at the extreme aft end, can't remember what it's called... they go for about $300 new.
You could get a Heritage Arms .22 SA revolver for 150-200 new. Out of everything I own that's one of the most fun, because it's light, simple, cheap to shoot, and the old-school revolver styling makes you feel like john wayne when you cock it back and take aim. I actually have two... one for each hand.

Guess you fell for the Taurus is bad meme. This isn't 1982 anon.

I have seen multiple examples of various modern Taurus models being completely shit. There isn't a single redeemable thing in their entire lineup.
Ive put like 500 rounds through my Pt111 g2 without a single fail, it was like 196 after tax. They also have a lifetime warranty. Makes a great pistol to leave in the truck.

Although you specified DA, I'm going to chime in here and recommend the Ruger Single Six. I've owned several semi-auto .22's and have encountered numerous problems with them. Feeding issues, magazine issues, nothing but headaches. My single six however, shoots whatever I have without complaint. It's a simple, stout, accurate handgun and I found mine used for $250.
Are you ever going to use the DA trigger on a .22 revolver? Probably not. I like DA's but they're going to place undue stress on your limited budget.

Gunsmith here
Taurus is fucking trash
I have Taurus's come through my shop regularly and they're all unserviceable
I started just sending them back instead of even looking at them
Take your stupid newfag bullshit elsewhere

And? Even a Hi-Point can pull that off and it does it cheaper while not blowing up.
>>33410053
still a new gun havent used it much so its not gonna have a lot through it
>>33410026
That's the most ridiculous gun i've ever seen.

I have a Ruger sr22 that's been good to me, less picky about ammo than the walther p22. But if you want a longer barrel, a used mk III is within that price range. Or save another hundred bucks and get the mk IV and not deal with the pain in the ass field strip of the older ones

Find an H&R. I got this one in a pawn shop. They are great little .22 pistols. You will have plenty left over to buy a few bricks at Walmart.

Another pawn shop find.

I'm holding out for a top break model myself.

Yep. Been watching for the right one too.

The little one lives in my fishing vest. First three chambers with snake shot, the rest .22 LR. If I fall in the river and lose it no big deal. That's actually my second because I did lose the first one in an river tumble. There is an armed rainbow out there somewhere.
