What do you guys think of my K31?
>inb4 hurrr k31 is kill
relax, i'm Swiss so it's still Swiss made and the modification is fully reversible
No diopter.
>>33405211
I'm not a big fan of wood with such extreme color variation.
>>33405211
I like it anon :^)
In all seriousness I really do like the wood finish and I always love me a good bolt action.

super gay
>>33405211
Looks ugly as sin, but whatever. It's your rifle boss.
>>33405211
Well done, anon. Looks good. What's the ammo situation like in Switzerland for 7.5 Swiss?
>>33405211
i think the color is in bad taste
>>33405299
He's probably got a basement filled to the rafters with boxes of it.
>>33405286
You arent me
>>33405323

asking for a friend
>>33405341
Nobody cared who I was until I put on the mask
>>33405356
Walmart sells them
>>33405323
>not big bear doin thangs
>>33405211
The outer most lamination forward of the grip (on both sides) looks really really awful.
You should have introduced some hardwood with a more attractive grain pattern there.
Not a fan of the profile of the butt end. And I'm just all around disappointed in the effect.
I'm not a huge laminate fan to start with, but it goes beyond that.
Sorry OP, but K31 is kill, put it back
>>33405211
I say redo it with just walnut. Walnut is the best wood.
>>33405411
I should clarify that I appreciate some of the features you tried out and certain contours are pleasing, but just no
>>33405380
thats a big bottle of vaseline
also I like gold peak too
>>33405299
pretty good, like in the hundreds of tons good
and thanks for the feedback guys, i'll upload more pics without the instagram filters maybe you'll like it more
>>33405211
>garish laminate stock
awful
>fully reversible
as long as you kept the original stock and throw it in if/when you sell it, then all is fine.
this was my very first attempt and it was made mostly with old chisels, gauges, a dremel and a sander

elmer's glue
>>33405695
>>33405699
nothing, i copied the original inletting very precisely, most of the action is free floating except of the rear of the trigger housing, the rear tang and the bottom of the front pillar, i used the original shim to spread the load on the stock

I kinda like it, you did the wood work yourself. I'd be doing the same if I had stuck with carpentry. How does it shoot?
>inb4 op makes wood furniture for a Stgw 57 that makes it look good
>>33405774
>>33405781
very well, didn't change much actually, i dont know how you calculate accuracy, we have a pretty specific way of doing so at our 300m ranges.
>>33405774
>>33405786
so there you go, #nofilter maybe it looks a bit less harsh
This does look much better without the filters, but personally I still don't see the appeal of multi-colored laminates.
>>33405867
Very nicely crafted though.
>>33405883
thanks, i'll probably try again with grey laminate
>>33405786
The outer laminate from the grip forward kills it.
I guess you would need to use some walnut, maple, elm, etc..
You could still do a faux wood grain to cover it up. crotch mahogany would look neato.
>>33405718
>elmer's glue
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. all that work then you cheap out. Aluminum pillar bed it. Also you need a diopter
>>33406998
i didn't use glue ffs, and the k31 doesn't need pillars, you think this is a crappy mosin made from drift wood and bent shovels? maybe a diopter, but right now i can consistently hit a head sized target with iron sights, GP11 at 300m
>>33405699
Sweeeet looks great, and the work you put into it is impressive, looks like it'd be damn fun and comfy to shoot
>>33405211
Looks pretty rad.

Minute Of Angle
General rule of thumb is that low MOA is good, 4 is the highest acceptable for a rifle in my opinion.
MOA translates to the size of your group at 100 yards, so if your group is 2 inches in diameter, your rifle is shooting 2 MOA. Below 1 inch is called subMOA. Above 5 or 6 and people generally don't bother measuring.
Remember that ammo and how warm your barrel is can change your groupings as well. A cool bore with nice match ammo can improve your groupings.
someone in canada sell me a k31 please
Nice work, how long did the whole project take?
I really want to do my own stock for my 10/22
I also regret not jumping on the nice K31 for 400 burgers in my LGS like a year ago cuz now they are fucking hard to come by for not scalper prices.
>>33408721
no, and none of our surplus ammo either
>>33405286
This is the magic of /k/
>>33405726
It'll still shoot far better with the original stock. The sights are set up for the original stock and the original stock put pressure near the muzzle end.
>>33409130
point of impact shifted a bit vertically , i just need to switch the front blade and it'll be fine
>>33408745
around 45 hours
>>33407834
thanks, and i'll do a bit of calculation next time since we only shoot at either 50 or 300 meters
>>33405211
Furniture is too visually aggressive for me.
Also
>pistol-grip bolt gun
Still it's bretty impressive.
Did you just buy that shit at the Waffenbörse in Luzern?
