Have games like CoD and Battlefield turned the RDS into a meme-tier overhyped fad?
Me, personally, I hate the damn things. I've always had a stronger preference for scopes and iron sights because you can clearly tell whether or not your parallax is off with either
That's why I went and got me a Spitfire.

I dont know how old you are bud but welcome to /k/.
>>33400122
I want to at least give them a try. I don't really play videogames anymore so NB I don't know what they are like anymore.
Since they mount directly to the rail or loaded instead of using scope rings, how would the parallax be off?
I do think they are a bit overhyped but that doesn't mean they're outright terrible. I have one for my ar and it works fine, but I also have some scopes as well. Overall it's whatever you like to shoot with.
>>33400174
Slight differences in cheek weld can make it seem like you're on target, when you might not be
Also thermal drift
>>33400227
>Thermal Drift
OP didn't say Eokek specifically, just red dot sights in general
>>33400163
he's referring to the tautology of that statement
>>33400249
Was that the problem that still required extremely high temperatures to cause the sight to shift a minute amount?
>>33400313
Extreme high and low so think in a trunk in the south west summer or northeast winter. Short of the extremes they function great but for the bullshit climates of deployment yeah they were noticeable if minor/moderate deficiencies
>>33400149
Good taste anon. I love that optic. Put one on my 20-incher
>>33400122
>Have games like CoD and Battlefield turned the RDS into a meme-tier overhyped fad?
Seems to me like RDs are still very good at giving quick, easy target acquisitions that are vastly superior to anything irons can offer, and being used around the world by people who are paid to kill other, brown-skinned people, despite being popular in video games. Whodathunk.
>whether or not your parallax is off
[laughing non-poverty optics in the distance]
>>33400313
>till required extremely high temperatures
If you mean temperatures that can be achieved inside a car trunk on any given summer day in Texas, or a garage in Vermont in February, yeah.
>PROTIP; being a retard and showing everyone here you use shitty optics and shitty stocks and can't manage to even get a proper, consistent cheekweld isn't the fault of red dots everywhere. It also doesn't make you some special snowflake. It makes you a retard.
>>33400858
Do you even know what greentexting is used for?
>>33400122
But red dots are for nubz (like devgru, seals and such). Real pro operate with irons and quickscope in CoD.
>>33400249
All sights have thermal drift
Even aimpoints
Go ahead and tell me what you think parallax means, especially how it applies to aperture sights you fucking moron.
>>33402859
Even irons and traditional telescopic scopes.
Seriously, try it. Do a 100 yard zero with your irons at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Go shooting again when it's 0 Fahrenheit out, there will be a marked difference in POI.
>>33402900
Not the fault of the optic
Temperature has a markable effect on a bullet's trajectory
>>33402859
What matters is the degree of it. All sights have parallax error, for that matter. Aimpoints have very little degrees of both, and the parallax is nil once you hit 50, so saying you think red dots are overrated because you can see any parallax errors "easier" with scopes/irons and don't have to worry about thermal drift is disingenuous, at best.
>>33400122
Those airshit C-more copies are annoying as fuck though. They're everywhere on the internet, in shops, in video games, movies, etc.
Even though the original itself was shit and that's why it never gained nearly the same popularity as aimpoint or eotech products and clones of those yet somehow it became ultra popular culturally.
Fuck this shit.
>>33403077
Because FUTURE dude.
It looks slim and futuristic, therefore the plebs who can't figure shit like led screens out think it's superior to "old fashioned" sights like the aimpoint.
>>33403077
>yet somehow it became ultra popular culturally
Mid-2000s FPS games. Not joking. Also they're a lot more appealing in terms of aesthetics to normies who can't see the clear downsides to the design (exposed emitter, prone to fogging, relatively fragile), and can't comprehend just how inferior it is to an enclosed tube dot like a Comp M4 or T2. For most they want it because
A) It was like $30 on Amazon
B) COD4 had it
C) FUUUTUUURE LOOKING
>>33400122
Have you tried using one that isn't bargain bin tier?
>>33403282
I DUNNO BRUH THAT SOUNDS KINDA SPENSIVE NAWMSAYIN?
>>33403298
Now that you think mention it, why would anyone in their right mind spend over 100 dollars on a rds when you can just go buy a Bushnell or ops pic for 50 Bucks + free shipping?
>>33403328

>>33403274
Enclosed tube blocks vision. Open frame doesn't. One design is clearly superior.

You're right about the airshit-tier sights, but you can get good ones with the same basic design like the Vortex Venom or Burris Fastfire. There's a reason those are $200+ dollarydoos too.
>>33403399
Checked, and also that weapon and that horse would be pretty fucking fantastic. Also I don't feel like googling shit, so where'd you get that rifle or what's the model so I can get one when I have shekels?

SLR 107 + zenit handguard and rail set. Zenit parts are pretty pricey just as a heads up. I think legion usa still sells them so you can look there.

Aimpoint micro shits all over it.
The EXPS3 does look cool though. I guess.

everything else is stock. I'd recommend getting a smith to work on the venom tactical block, shouldn't cost too much as long as he's not a jew.
alternatively you can look for a 107 or 104cr, which already comes with the fsb/gb combo. Those are pretty hard to find but id recommend going that route and save the trouble if you do find one.
