Other than that I wouldn't expect for the USA to try to retake Taiwan for a while. They'd probably fight a naval war, which they'd probably win, then start strategically attacking the Chinese mainland. They'll threaten Honk Kong, possibly even take it. I could try to bog them down but I doubt I'll be getting much support from the locals.

The only real option is to hold out and hope that American bombing isn't as bad as it might be. Once our surface fleet is destroyed their is not a chance in hell we're building anything new. I'd focus on submarine production but rushing effective modern submarines is a hell of a feat and it takes too much time. If we did build up a sub-fleet we should assume that the US would build more ASW ships and capabilities. Naval expansion is inevitable under the Trump administration.

So that's my best option, build subs, mine the waters, and hope that you can give the US enough trouble to convince them that peace would be a better option than war. What could do that I don't know. You'd have to offer them something incredible like a huge share in south asia sea oil. That might not even do it.

A threat of nuclear retaliation isn't enough to prompt the US to launch its own nukes as that would be suicide as well. However, it's enough of a credible threat to get the world invested in a political solution which is to China's advantage as they wouldn't win if the US got a chance to ramp things up. There is no winner here, so it's best to be the status quo.

It won't be, "Taiwan is China now." but the Chinese have no reason to back down if they really want Taiwan to the point that it would be like Crimea. China has a fuckhuge army, but they can only bring to bear the troops that can fit on their assault craft or be parachuted in.
If Taiwan has time to mobilise, and there's every chance that the troop buildup in Fujian would be noticed, the airborne forces will probably be overwhelmed by Taiwanese conscripts by the time they land. This either factors into Chinese planing or it doesn't, either way, the job needs to be done by the Navy, and quite frankly, it probably won't be able to succeed.
With superior air support, the invasion force will probably make landfall, but then what? China will be losing planes and ships every day and every day it will be harder to supply their forces.
So China either wins overwhelmingly in a week, or Taiwan takes a shit load of Chinese prisoners.
