thrown haphazardly in the corner of my bedroom
Thinking about building a gear storage system like shown in that picture out of plywood.
>>33372411
R u a SEAL?
Gay pillows are because Ciras has no plates and won't stay on tiny shelf otherwise and this was back when MAPP overhung 6094 a lot and wouldn't sit there either.
I really dont want to carry a full size 33ish oz handgun, but I also don't want to spend more money on another gun
>>33372450
Carry that 43 then boi
>>33372425
It's this kind of shit Johnson.
You really are the biggest weirdo here.
>>33372450
are you trying to get something in between the usp and 43 size wise, weight wise, or capacity wise?
Begin AOR-posting
>>33372450
Idk why you even have a full size. To me, they are kind of useless when a compact can fill the same role and more.
Just purchased an XDs in 9mm for concealed carry. My current belt is a little flimsy to support a loaded handgun. Any good recommendations for gun belts that won't break the bank and also are aesthetic as fuck?
>>33372411
All my gear is neatly setup under my window in my room, won't have a proper way to store it till I move out really and putting it in a tough box seems pointless.
New belt setup, so far I like it
Hey, is $225 for a set of army custom multicam cryes (navy custom multicam pants?) and a multimeme JPC (with no armor) a good deal?
>>33372573
$225 for legit mc cryes and mc jpc is an amazing deal. How used are these?
Also are these legit Crye combats/fields or usgi "crye pattern" shirt and pants?
>>33372467
No fun at all huh~~~
1/2 I sorta just throw it onto here and hope for the best.
>>33372591
Well they're coming from a guy from fort bragg so I think they're real, tags look fine. Said he deployed with them but they weren't heavily used, and by the looks of another set he has I believe he actually was overseas. Idk, I'm not a huge gear guy, so I might put them up on here for sale(?)
>>33372618

>>33378303
Yes, I have.
It was challenging.
It would have been much harder without it.
>>33378303
Pretty much this >>33378520
While I agree with you that they can sometimes be a pain. The movies tend to pretend that they are some insane piece of gear that works soooo well. Of course they dont show the 40 degree FOV, Zero depth perception, etc.. PVS14 as the other guy said are more or less the gold standard when it comes to the NOD market, considering the level of ability and price point.
The civilian market for night vision is basically not really much different than the mil market. Considering that if those companies didn't get military contracts they wouldn't be making them at all. Not enough civilians buy them. Its way way more in depth than this but just as a crash course..
>Super shit Gen1 $300
>Pretty Decent Gen 3 $3000
Now if you want say duels, you can expect to pay anywhere from $7000-10000. Now lets say you want the cream of the crop (As far as generally speaking/what civis can actually get), my .02 cents is thats probably the GPNVG-18. Last time I checked those are what anywhere between 30k-50k?
------
Realistically, assuming your not a millionaire, your options are PVS14, or PVS31. There are a bunch of inbetweens, so thats just a broad stroke of the pen there, and many other great options. But Im not gonna sit here and tell what you to buy with your 10k, you just gotta do the research yourself, theres too much info out there.
>>33378649
So far as I know it's really hard to get real PVS-31s as a civilian, but you can buy dual gain BNVDs that are pretty close in all the important ways.
Mind you I have very limited knowledge of the manufacture of NVGs and their components but why won't pic related work? I know it's probably been thought of but why won't it?
>>33378681
True, if theres a will theres a way though. I know a few civvies who got them, like the GPNVG18 is probably near impossible to get as a civilian, but if you got that kinda money.. im sure you can get them somehow.
But yeah, id probably do the duel gain bnvds
Taking recommendations for a new inner belt, as well as an IFAK. Willing to spend the money on something nice, but would rather not go overboard for diminishing returns.
Ran out of space in the safe, the 4 ammo tubs and 2 gear tubs. Decided fuck it, bought a plastic gardening cabinet from Lowe's and stuck it next to the safe.
>>33378707
>tfw recognize trips from their gear and weapons
>>33378696
There's an objective before the tube that does exactly that.
>>33378718
I won't say I'm not, I just won't say I am. Stay on topic.
>>33378721
Ok so through the objective and then the tube, but ultimately it still gives you the "im looking through a tube" sensation right? I think what im getting at is why shape the entire thing like a tube in the first place instead of like the curvature of say sunglasses, so you can "look around"? Like those NVGs with the 4 tubes are to give you better peripheral vision but theyre still just 4 tubes to look through. Im probably phrasing my questioning innacurately.
>>33378727
I'll try.
I got a big metal shelf from Costco for my stuff. Theyre like $70 each and support up to a ton. Got it right next to my murder desk. Pic is pretty old Im sure a lot has moved or been sold off.
>>33378772
Looks comfy. I was planning on building a wood shelf at some point. A strong simple one. Nothing fancy.
>>33372445
OP pic is from the No Easy Day book. I have that book.
>>33378759
Just increasing the curvature without enlarging the tube will fuck the depth of the image.
>>33378697
Different anon. PVS-31s, assuming you buy them, are not warranty honored by L3 because any 31 in civilian hands was resold by someone in a govt position. I only know one civilian with GPNVG-18s and he is the now retired founder of Insight.
>>33372482
fuck dude, I kinda regret not making an AOR1 kit, but at the same time it would be difficult af and would probably require a bunch of lurking on eBay and overpaying for a lot of stuff.
R8?
Main rifle is a paratrooper sks, carry 120 rounds on stripper clips, have a pack on the back of the rig with 2 MREs a med kit and water. Also have a small tent and field equipment in a separate messenger bag I can carry. Iwi Jericho 9mm in a drop holster that you can't see.

Hey guys.
I need advice on what mag pouches to get on a light plate carrier. I have double decker tacos and I hate them, I carry too much handgun magazine with them so I'm going to swap them either for normal ones or I maybe thought to go simpler with a three mag pouches with some strap.
Don't really know what's the gucciest and the less bulkiest.
>>33380301
Well my first impressions is that I'm not a poorfag anymore, stuff feels tough and well made. And as it should for costing like $430 together
the chest rig is little smaller than it looks in the pictures, but I'm not complaining. Although it is true that only 1 AK mag or 1 .308 (or 7.62x54r in my case) mag can fit in each mag pouch. I hoped I would be able to at least squeeze two AK mags per pouch, but it doesn't really work
The backpack is really nice, lots of special pockets and little things that make it even more useful
I'll be testing out this gear a lot more in about a month, I'll see how they hold
>>33380348
I use MSA paraclete mag holsters, I also like tasmanian tiger pouches. For what they are worth I am just happiest with them. Their G36 mag pouches hold every type of mag since G36 mags are fuckhuge.

ACT 4, JOHNSON OF THE NEVER GETTING HIS ARKTIS PANTS
Scene starts
weird depressing screamy music in the background and advanced shitposting in the foreground. Johnson opens facebook on a whim while searching for the cut of >>33380557 uniform.
He fails to find, or care about that other anons post but what he finds is something greater. Much greater.
Arktis guy: "Hi John, we've now shipped this. I'll get someone to grab the tracking number for me."
Johnson: "And here I was worried, thanks. Maybe now I'll get my pants"
Arktis guy: [silence as usual]
End of conversation

Also, anyone here know the going rate for a gentex SPH-4B? I don't expect any of you lot to know much about aviation gear.

I want to share a little secret with my /k/ pals. often times, factories that make good products will occasionally sell those same products unbranded or under a generic name for a fraction of the major name brand's cost. the Chinese do this a lot but it happens everywhere.
for example, grocery store brands often come from the same USA farms & factories as major brands. the same thing happens with internationally produced goods. everything from guitars, (most American guitar companies have a budget line of guitars that are built in asia or mexico), electronics and clothing can be found for pennies because it doesn't have a logo painted on.
these factories won't advertise their unbranded products so as not to compete with themselves, they just want to sell more product.
there are cheap knockoff factories out there, but usually it is very obvious.
I have yet to delve into outdoors/sports type gear but I can tell you if you find a "copy" of something in china and the "genuine article" is also made in china, and the copy has satisfied reviews and everything else checks out. well, you get the idea.
on a similar note, many manufacturers in the US that sell their components to Gucci firearms companies sell those same components to "cheap" companies, ruger, palmetto state arms, ddi, etc. unbranded, of course.
>>33385582
but Eagle doesn't make the MARCIRAS in China anyways
I can't think of a single good tactical gear company that does their manufacturing in China.
>>33385582
You're obviously new here, if not a troll. You need to stop this. There is a reason that you don't buy Chinese shit for serious load bearing use, rigorous longevity, and especially for action that your life might depend upon.
>>33385489
Wtf what is that rated for?
Anyone know of a backpack similar to the velocity 24 hour assault pack that is a little larger, ability to use bungee on the back/or compression straps that go from one side to the other, and has compression straps on the bottom of the pack.
>>33384943
ok how about this:
which of the random-ass stores out the front gate is the best?
>>33385605
>>33385655
if I want to troll /k/ I can just post a /pol/ meme and get 20 (You)s.
this doesn't only apply to China. reading comprehension hurts, I know.
I'll just tldr it for you:
>factories want to make money and push product. sometimes they sell their products under a major brand and also unbranded. look for both.
>>33385806
go ahead and buy that, let me know how it holds up compared to a MARCIRAS
No one is denying large brands using cheaper factories. Hell look at Ronin belts, AWS does all their sewing, they make a belt like 100 bucks cheaper.
But to sit here and say THAT vest is comparable in anyway to a MARCIRAS, you can tell just by the pictures it isnt even close.
>>33385859
I'm not saying that though, and I never did. I didn't even look at it. I just responded to it because it was asking about gear made in china. and like I said in the post if you would have read it,
>there are cheap knockoff factories out there, but it is usually very obvious.
why do I try to help you retards.
>>33385924

>>33385990
>thinks that one industry is somehow excluded from the rest of the economy
>overpays for larp costumes
>>33385806
You do realize you are in a general thread. That means the majority of us in here are retardedly obsessed with this shit. We know the vast majority of products, from super cheap to expensive, from complete shit quality to damn near best you can get. There is shit that is super cheap and still good quality, rarely do those things involve newly manufactured products. I know you thought you were injecting "knowledge" into the conversation when you saw those comments, but you really don't know this industry. Any companies that have their own factories either mass produce shitty shit in a factory they own or contract in china, or they manufacture their products here. The ones that manufacture here cost a decent amount. That's because 1. They are paying for American labor and quality control 2. They are paying for quality materials 3. They are paying for the design and r&d.
People that aren't doing that, are making shit products. Of course there are smaller companies, but most of them are garage full of people working as hard as they can to make a product worth a shit, or are contracting to a factory to create their design, and they are not going to allow that factory use that design and sell it for cheaper. But doing it that way is rare in this industry when it comes to quality products unless it's 5.11 or Blackhawk and they are mostly designs that have been around for 15 years.
>>33386024
>actually thinking the good stuff is manufactured in china
you realize most of this stuff has to be berry compliant and the market isn't big enough to justify foreign factories when you already have a domestic production line, right?
Anyways I've owned some of the cheapo chinese stuff and it's almost all garbage.
>>33383361
he's not running anywhere
>>33386060
>>33386068
okay. forget china for one moment. some factories IN AMERICA sell their shit unbranded. it benefits them if you believe that they are a small run production because muh American labor and muh quality materials. it also benefits them if they sell more of their shit on the side, unbranded.
Hey, can someone identify this? It was my grand dad's, he always told me he was a test pilot.
>>33386182
It's test pilot gloves, helmet, and respiration/anti-glare system
>>33386275
Any more info than that? Like a model?
>>33386182
I'm 99% sure it's an HGU-2A/P flight helmet. Judging by the knob on the visor, it was probably made between 1966 and 1969. The gloves are just regular nomex flight gloves, and could have been made anytime between the mid 60's to today.
>>33386297
>Like a model?
I believe that is the white model of the test pilot helmet series.
>>33385698

>>33386172
>>33386060
Dude, I addressed this.
I started to type out a decently long response but it's useless to try to make you understand how this industry works. This thread is full of people who have understood how this shit works for quite a while, and I promise it doesn't work the same as other mass production industries. But I really don't care if you know that or not, because you are the guy that would go and buy a cheap knock off carrier, put ar500 plates in it, then never use it enough for the product to fail or for you to realize that it doesn't work correctly, even if you know how it should work.

i have a relatively heavy AR but i've never had any problems with it being uncomfortable even after hours of wearing it.
Hey guys, this might be a retarded question but is a p229 "easier" to shoot than a g19 because of the extra heft? What does having a higher bore axis do and why is it seen as a negative? I was gonna head to the range and rent one myself but my local range charges out the ass for rentals.
>>33389178
Work out your neck more / wear the sling more. You will get used to it.
>>33389419
As someone who owns both a g17 and a p226, just bigger versions I will tell you I like the p226 more. Not everyone will however. I much prefer the trigger on the sig and the way it sits in my hand. Bore axis really only matters if you limp wrist it like a bitch. Do some forearm curls and control the recoil.
>>33389178

>>33389552

>>33388541
There is some gear that comes from China that isn't total shit, but the majority of it is total shit. That is not a misconception, that is a fact. Usually it's subpar material, with subpar stitching, with tolerance stacks that can sometimes give you a product that has a stitch run out of the material.
>well I'm not talking about China
>oh yeah but what about China
>>33389552
I need to just bite the bullet and go rent one. Memes aside i like the look of the 229 legion. I thought the extra weight of the sigs would make them easier to control naturally?
>>33390151
I mean I don't have a problem with 9mm control in general so I don't really notice the difference as much
>>33390242
I feel ya. I shoot my g19 ok, but I'm thinking i might shoot the 229 better. Just wanted to make sure it was worth the extra dosh before i sprung for it. I haven't shot any da/sa triggers yet

I bought some merrill MOABs in goretex last year around January. Climbed Mt. Rogers in them, and then wore them as an off duty shoe until Aug. Then switched them to a daily work wear (Re modeler) and now they have gone to shit from being used as a daily wear shoe (Mind you I dont do anything crazy other than wear them as a pair of shoes.
Im pissed they fell apart, and am looking to get some solomons, but hear they only last a year or so before they too take a shit

>>33393795
The Stay away list is very long and I'm not sure there's a comprehensive one out there.
So just go with what's in the pastebin there's some pretty good options in there for all price points.
>>33393574
Salo's last more than a year unless you're using them as a pretty intensive daily shoe ie walking everywhere, woods trips, lots of water, high or low temps, hiking a lot (rocks and stuff), or if you have them sized wrong or something.
Merril's are the Mechanix of shoes. They work but you'll wear through them with use.
