Ruger hate/appreciate thread. I have an SR9 and it has yet to let me down.
>>
10/22s are some of the best 1st guns you can get, and almost everyone has one.
I've also had one of their American bolt action rifles, and enjoyed that quite a bit.
>>
>>33367872
Yea, but it's ugly.
>>
>>33367872

I have 3 guns from ruger. All have been good.
>>
>>33367872
Mom has an SR9C, im not a fan. Racking the slide does different things depending on whether the mag is in or not

For that reason its a bitch to use (the gun, not my mom
>>
>>33367889
I agree, but it's a kind of endearing ugly. Like a pug or an AK.
>>
>>33367903
I have the full-size and have never encountered this issue. Your mom may have a lemon.
>>
>>33367914
Possibly, but it feels intentional

As in, racking the slide, mag out, locks the slide back. You have to manually unlock the slide yourself

Racking the slide, mag in, and the gun racks normally
>>
>>33367970
>what is training
>>
>>33367970
Wait the slide locks back when there's no magazine in the gun?
>>
I own a SR 1911, a mini 14 and a 10/22 TD, I'm happy with all of them

Definitely should not be happening, take it in for warranty
>>
I've got an LC9, SR22, and a Super Redhawk in .44 magnum plus a couple of 10/22s. No issues with any of them.
>>
I bought the Ruger American Pistol January 2016 It's a great gun. It shoots wonderfully and I've never had a single hiccup with it. It's just not comfortable at all for me to hold and shoot. It actually hurts to shoot. I've decided on selling it and getting a Glock.

>muh potmetal """investment""" castings
>muh Rooger customer service will take care of inherent dimensional issues resulting from castings
>muh M77 and muh mini14 with offset height receivers
>b-but we included w-warne rings guise
>well would you look at that, I can see daylight under the front ring because despite the ring height difference to account for receiver heights our shitty casting dimensions and finish machining didn't get the difference correct
>muh cold HAMMER FORGED bro barrels on trash like Ruger American rifle
>hurr durr muh sub moa but as soon as I throw a bipod on here and load it up the fucking trash stock is already making contact with the barrel changing my POI
>muh magazine disconnect is a feature

Objectively a shit company
>>
I have a p89. It looks like shit and the trigger is shit but it runs well. I tried to do failure to feed drills and it kept chambering the empty cases lol. Good gun for a bug out bag maybe
>>
Gf has a SR9 and LC9S. Both nice. Stock sights on the SR9 are shit, too small. LC9S has great trigger IMO but it's uncomfortable to shoot, M&P shield shoots much nicer.

Liked my 10/22 Takedown but it was a pretty useless feature. Liked my 22/45 as well. Sold both during the Newtown 22lr drought.

Just bought my 8 year old an American 22lr. Haven't shot it yet, but it feels really nice and comes with a nice set of iron sights. Pretty excited to take it out this weekend.

Ruger is fine. Like all companies, they put out some great stuff, and they put out some stupid shit. Pretty rare to find a gun company that puts out ONLY good shit, HK is the only one that comes to mind.
>>
Bought a used ruger 9e for $289. no issues or malfunctions. I like it

WHY DO VAQUEROS LOOK LIKE SHIT SERIOUSLY
>>
>>33369637
I had the opposite experience with my SR9. I had a Glock 23 before, it was really uncomfortable to shoot so I sold it and bought the Ruger.
>>
>>33370599
They look like shit because you have shit taste
>>
>>33367886
I love the 10/22 but the pins that hold the trigger group in the receiver are loose as fuck and also hard to find replacements for. I lost one of mine when cleaning it at a friend's house and still haven't been able to find replacements.
>>
Love my LCP Custom

Also got my eyes on the LC9s for CC when I don't feel like having a double stack
>>
>>33367872
I own a boring 10-22, as it is the quintessential first rifle and pretty fun to shoot.

I also carry an LCP 2, as the new model has a great little trigger and better sights now. I hated the original LCP which led to me selling it, but the 2's greatly improved.

I would love a gunsite scout. Ruger bolts are nice, and that one is no exception.

Ruger is a pretty solid company that's listening to the market and trying to be a company that can provide any form of firearm you could ask for. They listened and made the LCP2, the LC9s pro, the American series, their newest carry revolvers, their black rifles.

I don't think it's done growing, either.
>>
I have a p95.
It's decent. Large and a bitch to conceal carry well.
Gets fail-to-feeds with limp wrist females or after 50 rounds, unless using +P rounds.
>>
>>33371029
Buy after market.

Consider a kidd trigger
>>
>>33367872
I love Ruger as a company...one of the few decent gun makers that are also American and not owned by Freedom Group.

You know, for some gay reason I'd like Ruger to make lever action rifles and pump shotguns.
>>
>>33367872
My first pistol was a P95, about a decade ago. I liked it so much I bought a second purely to abuse. Went 15k rounds without cleaning, only had a handful of stoppages. I bought an LC9 after that, it was an okay enough carry gun, but I replaced it with a Glock 43. I just got a 22/45 lite and it seems to be a pretty nice little gun as well.
>>
>>33367872
SR9 (and co) are solid polymer guns, just not as good as most of the competition. The LCP II is one of the all time best 380s on the market, and Ruger revolvers are my favorite revolvers that aren't Colt Pythons.
>>
>>33367889
Looks better than a Glock

Ruger is probably my favorite overall gun manufacturer.
>>
Finally a good thread for this - I have an SR40C that I like quite a lot, but it's really particular about locking the magazine in. When inserting the mag while the slide is back, it's effortless and feels as it should; however, when the slide is forward, the mag tries to stop just before locking, and usually requires a slap on the ass to lock in. I've tried several mags, and the issue is consistent. Any ideas?
>>
>>33367872
I want to like Rugers, mechanically, they're bulletproof. I live a few miles from their casting plant, my neighbor works there, I want to like Ruger, I own a 10/22 and bought the old man an SR40, but all of their new stuff is Just So Ugly. Old single six, Redhawks, Blackhawks, Security/ Service Sixes etc look great with that overbuilt construction, but if you put a GP100 next to a SW686, I'm going to pick the Smith every time.

I just think ruger makes sexy guns in general. I just have an sr22 and 10/22, both have been pretty good over the years.
Had some fun with the sr22 last night. New laser seems to work pretty well. I normally kindof suck at pistol shooting, so it helps me out. I started off as a kid with a 22 pistol with laser, I forgot how much I like having one on my gun.
>>
>>33374711
I have the stainless SR9 and I think I want to get a SR9E for a project gun to paint and beat the hell out of. Objectively the SR series is one of the more aesthetically appealing handguns on the market.

The American pistol looks like a fucking Ruger billboard though. There's Ruger logos fucking everywhere, the SR9 is more professional looking. If they were trying for a professional pistol in the American, they fucked up bad, I can't take it seriously it looks like a joke and the damn beavertail on the grip feels like crap.
>>
they need to stop printing the safety manual on their guns
>>
>>33368001
Yes, all sr's do this.

Love my sr40c. The grip is relatively thin so it sits and points naturally in most hands. The stipling is weak though. The recoil spring is also the heaviest one I've used on a compact so racking it takes practice. I went with it over a few others because i shoot left-handed and the controls were really easy for me to use. The thumb safety location is perfect for my hand but I understand that some people can't hit it correctly without shifting their grip. It's very good at mitigating recoil. You do need to pull that awful mag disconnect out of the slide though.
>>
>>33378535
>up to fire
how could a company fuck up so badly when even they produce pistols with a correct frame safety?

Doesn't really make a difference to me. It's stupid easy to click it either way.
It's like the rem870 vs mossberg argument. Whatever you grew up with is probably going to be your favorite. I think mossberg safety and controls are meh, and mossbergfags often say the same thing about my 870.
>>
>>33379265
The remington tab safety is a pain to use left-handed and awkward in general. Never owned a mossberg but it makes me want to try one.

I think that's the handiest safety myself and the mossberg is in an annoying place.
And I love where the bolt release is on the remington too.
>>
SR22, 10/22, '76 stainless Security Six(personal favorite), and from what I can gather my Walther's parts were made by Ruger, but I'm not sure.
>>
>>33379505
The bolt release is great, no argument there. Easier to use from the left.

Broke my Extractor 2 weeks ago with less than 1200 rounds through my SR9.

No bueno
>>
I have an SR22 pistol and it's a fun gun but the goddamn roll pin in the slide keeps backing out. I'm getting tired of having to punch it back in everytime I shoot.
>>
>>33379729
>roll pin in the slide keeps backing out
that's not normal, and a guns smith probably has a really easy and cheap fix for it
>>
>>33379833
I'm thinking about putting permatex purple thread lock on it but I'll call Ruger first.

handguns are boring desu

Ruger is based for developing the .204 Ruger which is a fucking laser and probably the single most enjoyable round in existence.

Also the Ruger Precision Rifle is amazing for the price.

I mostly agree there. I've got infinitely more invested in rifles because they're a lot more fun to me.
But the sr22 does a great job of filling my handgun moods.

>racking slide

Anon I think you may be the retard.
>>
>>33379892
Boi.

The magazine follower is what engages the slide catch when the mag is empty. If there is no magazine in the gun, there is no magazine follower to push the slide catch up. If the slide catch isn't being pushed up, the slide will not lock back on empty.

If there is no magazine in the gun, the slide should not lock back. This is how most automatic handguns function, including the SR series.
>>
>>33377243

SR9c was my first handgun purchase.

the first time, I had a few stoppages; it tried to feed two at a time.

then i took it down, cleaned it thoroughly, and stored it with a few rounds in the mag.

took out a week later, and went through four magazines without one stoppage.
