As a matter of fact, no.

Point of fact that other than generations of soldiers and shooters have been dinged by the 1897, it suffers from a fatal flaw that is almost unable to be corrected and sooner or later will kill the shotgun.

The slide resets the hammer.
Hammer pushes up on slide.
Slide pushes up on ways milled into inner receiver walls.
Ways wear prematurely.
Bolt stops resetting hammer.
Shotgun inop unless thumb back hammer for every shot.

The only way to fix this, is to weld up the ways on the inner walls of the receiver, then recut them. Then refinish the shotgun. Which is *not* a small job.

More cash will be spent on fixing the shotgun than the shotgun is worth. Which means nobody does it. Which means they get broken down for parts and sold...

The Chinese copies have the exact same design flaws. And derps buy it coz muh histree!
