Give me one reason why the ENTIRE U.S. Military doesn't wear a general use olive-green coverall uniform?

>MILLIONS saved in uniform experimentation
>efficiency in foul work
>easily replaced ($50.00 for one set)
>easier to wear/pack (no pant/top combo)

And you could still design sets for different branch specific designs and include Velcro patching for unit patches...
>>
>>33352397
Coveralls are kind of shitty in hot environments where you will need to de-blouse or even just taking an expedient field shit.
>>
Because we haven't deployed in a predominately olive-green environment in decades and people like being able to take a shit without taking all their clothes off.
>easily replaced ($50.00 for one set)
Not if you want fire retardant ones
>And you could still design sets for different branch specific designs and include Velcro patching for unit patches...
Wow, branch specific uniforms? Like we have right now?

The Army tried camo coveralls during WW2 in the pacific. The uniforms were withdrawn because them men couldn't get undressed fast enough to take a shit.
>>
>>33352416

B.S. on hot environments. A loose fiting suit that allows air flow from top to bottom is better than a blouse, shirt, and pants tucked into boots with a belt to restrict at the middle waist. You could still go "half mast" in coveralls (removing the top and tying the arms at the waist) though it wouldn't look good. But yeah, shitting would be (slightly) more difficult.

Because why would I wear Army couch?

Or rediculous Navy blue Marpat?

Why are the Marines underfunded but we have two cammies that are functional? All the other branches receive more money, were the only ones on a more limited budget who decided two uniforms.
>>
>>33352431
>people like being able to take a shit without taking all their clothes off
That's a lie
>>
>>33352442
A double covered bumzipper would fix that
>>
>>33352431

>olive-dominant environment

>still so the various camp types of the Navy/army is some how cheaper than simply making a design for the hypothetical coveralls? It would still be cheaper and easier to manufacture.

Also,

>>33352442

>MUH SHIT SPEED!
>>
>>33352466
Would look like shit, though.
>>
>>33352477
Not if they're wearing a belt
>>
>>33352444
Have you ever worn coveralls? I have a set issued shittiest thing ever dude.
>>
>>33352444
>shitting would be (slightly) more difficult.
>dropping your pants and taking a shit is only slightly less difficult than taking off your pack, plate carrier and overalls (thereby being effectively naked) to achieve the same task
Have you ever worn clothing before?
>>
It's cheaper to throw away holey pants and keep the blouse rather than throw away the whole thing.
It's also better to be able to change pants/blouse only if one gets wet but not the other.
>efficiency in foul work
How?

Yes I have, extremely comfortable and easy to maintain

>>33352501
Valid point
>>
So as someone who doesn't wear coveralls, I've never considered that taking a dump would be hard in them, but holy shit I guess so

I'd think you could have some kind of crotch zipper that would go alll the way down and back up to the belt line. But that'd possibly be uncomfortable as hell depending on how the zipper rides the sack, and if you ruin that zipper and it tears while in a slav squat, you'd be fugg'd.
>>
>>33352539
In a military setting? Or is this just utility work?
>>
A bunch of old generals and ncos get together put out a paper thru a think tank get the government to sign off on it congrats money in the pocket and a new uniform
>>
>>33352574

Underway with the Navy, never boots on ground obviously. But I have done shore support (establishing a beach head for amphibious landings) and I always tell myself I would like coveralls better than type 3 NWU
>>
>>33352416
>expedient shit

I could see like how the Germans use the uniform for vehicle operators and other personnel that don't need to have rapid tactical shits as a consideration. Or have a thick one for winter operating, when removing layers is equal to removing the suit.

It's intentional

Our MO is look so ugly that even people 2000m away notice us and start taking pot shots so we can break out the grill and have a burger party until the BRRRT arrives and then go home and receive a discount on the next grill we buy at Home Depot because of our prior military service

that's why i said in general, the french seem to succefully implemented their us style woodland into arid areas just by tweeking the colours.. right? Can someone enlight on the french camo that looks like old woodland but.. better?

olive drab is one of the least effective forms of camo

almost as bad UCP

>>33353831
But it looks hella good if paired with black webbing

Austrians look a e s t h e t i c as fuck but olive drab does nothing to disrupt the human silhouette. Being a solid color dark color is almost as bad as being solid grey color like UCP.

Look at what camo Austrian special operations uses. Protip: it isn't OD green.

>implying you would get to wear it with a popped collar and rolled up sleeves
>implying they would issue them slim fitting
>implying I could shit in that without taking off load bearing gear and my IOTV
>>
>>33354182

the popped collar is useful to prevent the ejection parachute harness from chafing your neck. i'd imagine it'd do something similar with your plate carrier.

as someone who wears a flight suit... everybody else's objections are pretty accurate.
>>
>>33354228
Of course popped collars help with neck chafing. The army would never let you wear them that way is what I'm saying.
>>
>>33354228
what do you fly faggot?
>>
>>33352444
Hot or cold it's personal preference. As far as taking a shit goes I just stuff the top end into the crotch when i have to go

>Give me one reason why the ENTIRE U.S. Military doesn't wear a general use olive-green coverall uniform?

No way everyone would fit.
>>
>>33352397
Unless you're in a combat position you should just wear MOS/AFSC etc.. Specific solid colored uniforms. As a crew chief I have no reason to wear tiger stripe ABU's on a flightline (I doubt there is even a place AF tiger stripe blends into) Just give me something warm or breathable that's durable and resistant to stains and I'd be golden. A solid dark color could probably even be more beneficial to me on the hypothetical scenario you were getting shot at on the flightline.

I miss the fuck out of wearing my coveralls. Camo'd utes would chafe the fuck out of my knees and give me whiteheads on my legs.
Wear them enough and they're pretty fucking comfy and soft as hell.

>>33352444
The color absorbs a fuckload of heat, and if you've got any gear on you don't have any air-flow unless you're rolled up.

>>33352442
I could rip mine down in two seconds flat, must have not had zippers.
