How the fuck does anyone sight in rion sights at 50-100 yards?
>sighting in new rifle, 50 yard zero
>get back to firing line, take aim
>wtf I can barely see the fucking 2 inch circle
Can't even imagine what zeroing at 100 with irons is like.
>>33341681
Not having hawk like eyesight
>>33341723
forgot to mention that I have great eyesight, no contacts/glasses.
a>lso mfw getting back to the firing line and seeing how small the point of aim is
>>33341681
That's a 25 meter target. Use it at 25 meters, not 50. Did you read it at all ?
>>33341681
Jane, you ignorant slut.
>>33341868
couldn't find a "50 yard" zero target but the target size is similar to 50
>>33341681
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_18/328143_RIBZ_____Revised_Improved_Battlesight_Zero__now_with_down_loadable_50_yard_zeroing_target_.html
The black on an NRA certified 100 yard small bore target is 8 inches across. Relatively the same width as a standard front sight post at range.
>>33341681
I have an AR that I haven't properly zeroed in like 2 years. I have 20/20 vision and literally cannot see shit with an A2 post at 50 yards.
I'm not a rifle guy and shoot pistols a lot more but I'm going to try this target out next time I go out to the range.
>>33341939
This is not how that target works
>>33342016
woops, forgot the link
https://primaryandsecondary.com/inches-minutes-clicks-zero-that-blaster/
>tfw literally intimidated of shooting rifles in the sense that I'm fucking laughably terrible with it
>>33342036
forget that target and just picture the black circle instead. The zero target was just for reference
>>33341681
Don't you just zero 2in low if using that target at 50m/y ?
>>33342051
>>33342051
It feels good when you compare targets with others at the range and see you're shooting better groups with irons when they're even using a scope
>>33341681
I've been wondering the same thing actually
>>33341681
use a spotting scope?
Best 70 bucks I spent so far this year. The amount of money on ammo and trouble alone makes it worth it. pick a cheap 20-60x and you'll have no trouble zeroing your rifles within 250m.
>>33342144
Its seeing the tiny point of aim through the irons first before even checking your shots
>zeroing your sights
that takes all the fun out
>>33342016
>literally cannot see shit with an A2 post at 50 yards.
Unless it's a torso-sized target that's what you can expect. I've always thought AR irons were overrated as shit.
>>33342199
You gotta divide up the front post in your mind at that point and use the surrounding target to guide you to where you want to aim. That's what I do anyway and it works like a charm
>>33341951
I don't fucking understand this. The 25 yard zero is almost constant. why would you do any thing other than a 25 yard zero in that case?
>>33342318
It is just away to do something and have adjustable elevation from 100m/y and up. It is more for autism and wanting to know bullet drop off after peak elevation.
>>33342131
This is me. I try my hardest but this is all I can yield.
>>33342397
The 100y/m zero is a very flat trajectory with a fast drop off if your worried about targets behind what your shooting.
>>33342413
>>33342131
You guys know that as the barrel heats up your groups will spread out correct?
>>33342449
I'm horrible at shooting and even I know this is horse shit.
>>33342101
no.
>>33342449
>implying I'm good enough for barrel temperature to have an influence on my groups
Did you even look at my pic
>>33342459
he's right though. suppressors make this worse as they get hot as fug and add mirage while keeping that barrel toasty + their own poi shift.
>>33341681
I zero'd my m16A2 clone at 25rds
Shoots well at 100yds
I can't see well enough to hit a 200yd target with irons.
Got a Colt 4x20 that won't hold zero
Somebody on arfcom made a target that you can use at 25 yd but your zero will actually be at 50.
>>33341681>>33341762
use a bigger target, if you are using your OP as a target, that is only meant to be a 25 meter zero. use one of the 12" black circles
>>33342514
>Got a Colt 4x20 that won't hold zero
it looks badass as fuck though and i think we can all agree thats what is most important here
>>33342131
wait till they get closer before you shoot - a man's got to know his limitations
>>33342036
Leg.
That is all.
>>33342459
You're horrible at more than shooting. He's absolutely right and you are completely wrong. A hot barrel is no good if you're actually trying for cloverleaf groups.
>>33342131
Are those 1" squares? So you can shoot 8-10" groups at 100 yards. That's not bad. It's not competitive, but you're as good as anyone who's been in combat with those same sights.
>>33342804
Really?
I thought my eyes were starting to shit the bed or something
>>33342826
Yes they aren't bad. and they will expand as your barrel heats up.
Real men can aim with irons
>>33342131
50 yards
>>33342918
That's pretty neat.
What software is this? I'm gonna try it next time I manage to go to the range.
>>33342877
Approximately how much cooldown time do people take between shots usually?
>>33342918
That is pretty good man. Most of that could be fixed with consistent body position and eye
>>33342946
Your talking ten plus minutes before it really starts to cool after a grouping. Even longer for initial cold bore first shot ballistics.
>>33341978
standard NRA bulls are the only things I bother shooting anymore, they're fantastic particularly for rifles with aperture rear sights.
>>33342946
on target
https://www.ontargetshooting.com/
>>33342946
Not my group, mearly showing.
>>33342740
Mine holds zero with no issue personally.
>>33343068
and for the record, no one should be complaining about stock AR irons, they're extremely good. I shot this group from a completely stock Colt HBAR at 100yds. If you're having trouble duplicating this kind of accuracy, you need to work on getting a consistent sight picture above all else, with trigger pull being a close second in terms of importance.
>>33343141
This, sight picture is everything..
For anon's having trouble, Nose to charging. handle.
>>33341681
You use to could ask a Marine.
Then acogs because that shits hard.
>>33343029
I'm this guy, I need to go to the range again and get more groups. I've posted these for a while now....
Pos is Bench, supported with peep sights. it was cold that day.
>>33343179
>because that shits hard.
Because optics offer objectively better target acquisition and yield superior results*
You're welcome.
>>33343204
>here is your (you)
No that's what I said.
I said acogs because iron sights are hard.
You don't have to super impose yourself into a false sense of superiority.
>>33343202
What are you shooting with 40grains @ 15 feet?
>>33342759
My Joe Abercrombie reading nigga.
>>33343356
it's right in the filename and on the picture
>>33343356
It's the load my rifle likes the most at that range, also yards not feet.
>>33343534
>asked what
>got the why because i'm sleep deprived.
>>33342131
Shitty ammo or wrong twist rate barrel for the ammo you're using. Using milsurp 855 or 193? 5.56 comes in a lot of flavors and not all barrels are good for all kinds of ammo.
>>33343641
That's my chingchong M14 and I always get the cheapest x51 I can find.
It's by and large my casual shooting rifle, when I want to get serious I take my .300 WM Tikka.
Holy shit I'm never listening to k ever again about anything. 10 moa out of an AR is good????? LMAO
What a bunch of fucking retards.
In the army I was shooting 40/40, and that was with dog shit guns from a pog armory.
I shoot sub moa from 500 with irons on my scar.
I'm screencapping this and reposting it every time I see some retard try and give advice. What a fucking joke.
>>33343731
>>33343688
The Norinco m14s, from what I understand, rarely surpass 3-4 moa, plus your cheap ammo isn't helping. You may have poor technique too. I'm not insulting, just suggesting.
>>33343731
You're full of shit
>>33343790
>You may have poor technique too.
Not gonna deny it, I consider myself more of a shotgun guy if anything.
>>33343804
He's probably embellishing a bit, especially since occasionally managed sub-MOA is not the same thing as consistently shooting sub MOA, but that said there are more then a few sub MOA iron sight groups posted in this thread, so it's not as if it's not possible
>>33342131
Me all day.
It kind of makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one, but I want to know how to fix it too.
>>33343899
I consistently shoot sub moa with my scar and iron sights.
>>33343951
try going to an appleseed event
>>33343141
Is getting a consistent group for zeroing doing this?
>getting into a comfortable shooting position prone
>pulling the rifle into your body
>having it so tight into your body that recoil passes through you
>rifle recoils off target then comes exactly back on target from you pushing it into your body
>>33343760
Wow I've never seen the full version
I love this. Everyone talks shit about how much better their guns are and they can't even see their 25m target at 50 yards.
You better not have a drivers license
>>33341681
with ease actually . Hated these zero targets and they are simulated for certain distances without having to shoot at say 350mtrs you shoot at a 350mtr simulated its a lot easier than it looks
>>33341762
just line up the sights with the center of the big black blob like everyone else
work on your consistency
>>33341681
Kids in Switzerland can do it at 328 yards, you have literally no excuse
>>33345351
They can't see fine detail on a little shitty paper target at that distance.
>>33345369
Nobody said anything about seeing little details on target, just sighting with iron sights
>>33345373
OP thinsk he needs to see the lines to sight it in
>>33345316
Post your groupings.
>>33344051
at 500 yards?
