EDC Thread /maximalist/ addition

Considering getting my ccw at some point in the near future. Might be a dumb question, but how come I rarely see people using a shoulder holster? I see people saying that certain IWB carries are really irritating to use if you drive a lot (which I do), and shoulder feels like it would be a comfortable alternative, but I'm wary, since no one seems to do it, and I feel like there might be something wrong with it.
>>
Anyone have a p-01 and use it as for cc? Been thinking of getting one.
>>
>>33337543
Haven't tried myself but people say it actually conceals worse than in the waistband, and also slower draw
>>
>>33337543
I'm on my phone so sry for the brevity. Cross draw sweeps the fun in a wide arc when drawn flagging things unintended. Its slow and requires a big cover garment
>>
>>33337543
Just make sure you have it in vertical. My horizontal holster makes my side look pretty blocky with a horizontal holster. I can provide pictures for reference in a couple hours when I get home.
>>
>>33337543
I drive a lot with appendix carry. It doesn't bother me with my LCP or Glock 17.

Protip for appendix carry while driving, put your seatbelt behind the gun unless you want to destroy your pelvis.
>>
>>33337543
Good shoulder holsters are twice the price of a good IWB holster in addition to the other drawbacks
>>
>>33337871
Please do I'm not that guy but I like seeing the gear + how it's carried
>>
>>33337871
That'd be great, thanks. Do you look blocky even with a bigger, bulkier jacket? I wear a pretty thick coat in the winter.

I like the aesthetic of them, and the rigs tend to be high quality, but they're definitely not for everyone

How do you like that holster ? Almost got one, decided to get a tuckable one instead. Still might buy one.
>>

>>
>>33338128
It takes a while to break in since it's leather. Even with mine broken in, it's hard to re-holster when it's on you. The trigger area needs to be thicker imo to fix that problem. Still would recommend the holster though, it's really comfortable.
>>
>>33338210
Cool. And mines leather as well, been wearing it daily to break it in, started wearing it Monday

I carry a G17 + APL in a sidecar daily, driving is fine, AIWB master race.
>>
>>33337543
i drive a lot too, i appendix carry also.

i have a kydex holster made by g-code, its really easy to just pull it off my belt and set it down in the car while driving. and when im about to get out i just shove the holster back into my pants and put my shirt over it.

open carry is dangerous, you are alerting everyone that you have a gun. the element of surprise is gone. and honestly if i was to commit a crime id look at you first and have you disarm yourself.

just get a kydex holster and carry iwb, its the best way. idk what idiot keeps there gun in their pants while driving, i like to keep mine in the center console.

KSG Armory is the mad scientist genius holster engineer. Faster, more comfortable and more concealable than my old AIWB and space for a WML?

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE

Plus, he was willing to build it for me completely 1-off, it's not a listed sales item and he didn't jack the price, that's just an amazing amount of customer service and class.

You disproved your argument with your link. He says he knew his holster was unsafe and had the big crease where the trigger is. I use leather holsters until they become malleable. Usually around 6 months of carrying.

then yes
>again, if you use it until around 6-8 months before the leather becomes extremely soft then it will work better than kydex. Leather forms to the shape of your gun. Kydex is molded and always has imperfections
>draws better than kydex, at least for me
>again, yes. If you expect a leather holster to hold up for years then that's your problem.
I prefer them. I have used them for multiple years. People have been using them for centuries.

Now one with a light button-up shirt. Not too uncomfortable with summer and spring coming up so it's totally possible if you're not a little bitch with the heat.

Helmet was obscuring the view of the shoulders so I switched to something slightly less autistic to show you there's nothing visible around the collar.

I also just realized my right side looks bulky af but that's just because the magazine pouch got caught when I put the shirt on and I only cared about the gun side. Mags actually get really flush around the body when you actually try to look presentable.

Side view you can start to see the edges start to print around the shirt. This is why you should get a vertical holster.

Also I just realized I don't know how to take a side profile shot.

Your shit phone has barely any reach with that light, It drains the battery pretty fast too. It's obvious you prob work a desk job (That's if you work), never actually work with your hands, or else you'd see the importance of an actual light. Plus if you need both hands and the light, what you gonna do, try to hold your phone in your mouth or with your chin?

With modern day technology, you can easily carry a pretty bright light that is the size of a pen.

So fuck off fag.

If you had a blue collar job you would know this. But if pulling out your pocket light unnecessarily all the time to validate you spending so much on it makes you happy, so be it. I will continue working in a well lit area where I don't need a pen-light like some 400 pound fat cunt looking for the fry he lost in his fat folds.

Meanwhile, you're also arguing that having a light in your b.o.b is smart. However, your b.o.b might not always be in reach, which sucks when you might need a pocket flashlight. Like... trying to replace a tire at night.

They are so retarded they can't follow along with a conversation where at the beginning I said I have a bug out bag with everything I need not in my edc pic.

You have a few options. Only one is a good one.

1) Lose weight. Not hard.

2) If it's all in the gut, CC in the rear.

3) shoulder holser
>>
>>33342257
I feel like you're hinting at the "lose weight" option.

rear cc would require me to get shirts with longer backs

shoulder holster + summer = awkward

>>33342273
Dude, I was in your position. Went on a diet, lost 90lbs, can CC.

You can do it.
>>
>>33342229
In all seriousness lose weight. Use to weigh 210 before I started CC. In an effort to print less and be able to AIWB carry I started calorie counting, not working out or anything, just counting how much shit I put in my mouth. Since then I have lost 20+ lbs by just eating 1500 calories a day. If you just add in a bit of cardio or something you can easily lose 2lbs a week.

>>33342295

I carry two guns often, but not always. For years and years I carried only one.
My thoughts are:
In the off chance you need a gun, you REALLY fucking need a gun. There is not likely any alternative as good or as reliable as a second, small BUG. I don't cut things with my self defense knives for the same reason. It's a last resort for a really fucking bad day.
I can hand my BUG to my wife or someone else if the need arises. Not a requirement, but certainly nice.
I can hold off an attacker with my dominant hand, as I instinctually would, and draw from the other side of my body quickly and unawkwardly. Ever see that video of the off duty trying to do some appendix cross draw bullshit?
It's not that hard or uncomfortable and offers some nice features. It's not something for everyone or for every day.

Also, fuck you for not liking the same thing I like, you fucking fuck.

1. caloric restriction. Not only will it make it easier for you to hide weapons on your body, but animal models indicate it may be one of the most important factors regarding longevity. you heard it here first, Fuck sodium intake, drinking, or smoking the occasional fag, low caloric intake is where its at.

2. carry at 3' oclock. It's a lot like carrying AIWB, except your gut doesn't get in the way and you don't get fucking stabbed in the tummy every time you attempt to bend over forwards to pick some piece of shit up. plus it's comfy whether standing, in a car, or any other position.

it's a very nice gun: absolute tack-driver on the range, crisp trigger, fits in your hand like a penis in a vagina.
a tad heavy for EDC, but with a good belt, anything is possible. my suggestion would be pick one up in 9mm or 40 since there's a surprising lack of accessories for the .45 variant as it only comes in semi-compact.

Appendix carry is master race. Once people understand how a firing pin block works combined with trigger protection from a good holster and drop the "muh femoral artery" meme it opens up a world of new carry options.
>>
>>33346890
>>33346937
>Taurus

Yeah, as safe as apendix carry is with a reputable gun, not sure I'd do it with a one from a manufacturer famous for guns that go off just from shaking them.
>>
>>33337543
Shoulder holsters are the least forgiving in terms of style of dress to conceal. You pretty much have to wear a jacket, and they're slow to reholster.
>muh sweeping people
>muh horizontal holsters
>muh crossdraw
>etc
None of these are a problem unless you're retarded.

If you can wear two layers of clothing on your upper body all the time then you're fine. A hoodie, a jacket, or even a dress shirt over an undershirt.

>>
>>33346983
I'm just trying it to see if it works for me, empty chamber today. I don't trust a loaded tauras pointed at my junk either.

When I get something more reputable I'll carry it ready to go.
>>
>>33347029
I carry around 4:30 and it's never pointed at me, even while sitting.
>>
>>33347002
Gen 3 Glock 36 is one of the most reliable .45 pistols on the market. I've run thousands of rounds of ammo through mine with no issues. It even feeds low grain ammo fine.
>>
>>33347052
I'm sure you think it doesn't, but the fact is, a gun held flat against your waist anywhere is gonna muzzle something downstream, be it your ass, your thigh or (in the case of apendix carry) your dick. Luckily there are guns made niwdays where it's impossible for it to go off without the trigger being pulled.

Anyway in my opinion if the thought of having a gun pointed at your dick all day doesn't make you just a little moist, you're not a true zealot and should just carry pepper spray or something.
>>
>>33347102
My gun is holstered right now at 4:30. I am using a ruler to show trajectory and it is an inch off of hitting anything on me. That is the same for sitting and standing. If it makes you feel better believing that all holster positions are dangerous then so be it. Keep carrying with your gun pointed at for femoral.

A modern, properly designed DAO gun in a well designed hard shell holster puts you at literally 0 risk of the gun discharging while holstered.

And for re-holstering you can use your support hand to temporarily position the holster away from your body. Or you can just get the gadget, a LEM HK or a DAK SIG or a DA/SA pistol decocked and ride the hammer on the re-holster.

AIWB is a complete non issue, it has no draw backs and a ton of advantages. see: >>33347514

That's nice. Does it bother you that there's also nothing wrong with 4-5 o'clock carry?
>>
>>33347726

>>
>>33347725
You carry with 0 cant? That's less common, most folks have like 1015 degree cant when carrying at the 4:30
>>
>>33347775
Sometimes I do, but when I wear my work dickies it's more comfortable for me to run with none
>>
>>33347744
Statistically it is. You have a 3 times higher chance of accidentally shooting yourself in a draw and fire situation than you do shooting the attacker. Look it up, it's on the fbi statistics for gun shootings. If you nd while AIWB you die. If you Nd at 4 there is no injury.
>>
>>33347841
On the draw at the 4:30 you sweep your self too (the thigh). Remember that Tex fag? Or Chris Cerino - a firearms instructor from top shot? there's thousands of more examples.

Strong side carry only differs that when actually holstered - it's not pointed at your body, the draw forces the gun over your thigh, unless you stand with your legs very close together.
>>
>>33347911
And you will note they are both alive and well with little injury. If you Nd AIWB you die. How are you not understanding this? Drawing from a holster at the range and drawing under duress are completely different. You can practice all you want, if you make one mistake you are shooting yourself in the femoral artery and bleeding out in 30 seconds. Even if I Nd at 4:30 it will be a bandaid wound and I could still get to cover and return fire.
>>
>>33347841
>>33347911

I would provide WebM example of this but you guys wouldn't like the WebM, it would derail this nice thread and unfortunately it's the only one I have before I switched to AIWB
>>
>>33348004

You are no more likely to specifically hit your femoral from AIWB on the draw than from 4:30 - they both very briefly muzzle that area of your body on the draw.

No need to get worked up
>>
>>33348004
>>33348029

Actually I just tested and AIWB doesn't even sweep your leg when standing and drawing. The gun is pointed at your junk/leg basically when sitting and holstered only.

Perfectly safe and in no way more inherently dangerous.
