Do the bikers dismount before engaging? Seems sketchy as fuck to be pulling that up into a firing position like the driver would get domed pretty quick if he's not kissing the gas tank. That bike is going to get fucked up by return fire too.

Can't help but feel like that's just where the MG goes so they can have some forward defense while traveling to their next position.

It's probably more of a recon role or quick way to set up a MG position. Less of an "attack" vehicle.

The BMW mg bikes were great at harrassing enemy positions and literally doing drive bys on american and russian positions. It was normal for them to be scouting, see a patrol and BRRRRRRRRRT down the formatiom while speeding in a diagonal intersection course before turning and beating feet as fast as they could. Reading journals and books, they were usually crazy bastards. As one anon said, they did indeed hug that fucking gas tank while the gunner shrunk down behind the gun. A few even had the balls to chuck grenades or smoke

Theres a battlefield legend of a kraut gunner running out of ammo and using his mg as a club to kill a Bolschewiki, but i have yet to find any proof. From how the story goes he brrted his last brrt and while griddling on adrenaline, unmounted the... mg34 i think it was and baseball batted some random cunt in the head

There was also mention of cheeky jousting at low speeds in france, but i know this happened because it was in a war diary. They lines up on a street and putted in 1st geae at eachother while holding the tops of barrels and broomsticks. Dude got killed when a gi popped him while his driver was trying to get away. Bled out in the sidecar
