Hey, /k/. What reasons can you think of to use insanely human-looking androids in warfare as opposed to the camera and bunch of guns mounted on a pair of treads design that most military robot designs conform to in real life?

>Japanese designed weapons.
>vs.
>American designed.
Humanlike limbs = tool manipulation
Humanlike appearance = subturfuge/infiltration
Humanlike body shape = compatible with human gear

>Endless doujin potential
vs
>Media fanfic on indiscriminate killing machines

>not including a pair of manipulator arms shaped like human arms on your camera and bunch of guns mounted on treads
Two gun shows for the price of one.
There's actually an interesting example of a humanoid military robot used in the novel Robopocalypse where they have said robot serve as a means of surveillance instead in combat. Basically it would wander around and loiter in the streets of whatever country US forces were occupying and scan and catalog the faces of any individuals that exhibited hostility or attempted to cause physical harm to it (they made it durable as fuck). The human operators would then keep tabs on the people whose faces the robot scanned in order to determine if they are members of an insurgency or terrorist group and take action involving drone strikes if they proved to be a threat.
It was also helpful from a "hearts and minds" perspective in that it would not retaliate against any hostile behavior directed at it and would greet those passing it in the street in a calm and friendly voice, which caused the local community to grow fond of the robot over time and of course the local kids couldn't get enough of him. However, that all went to shit when the rogue AI, the villain of the story infected it with a virus that caused it to pick up an AK dropped by an attacker and start shooting everything that moved.

Well, you can't fuck the one on the right
>>33312788
Insanely expensive.
Imagine how many weapons, supplies, vehicles, and gear you could make with the money and tooling needed for android production.
>>33312942
Yes you can.
Why four grenade launchers? Why not just put a mark19 on top of it?
>>33312788
If you happen to have a couple of thousand tanks in inventory I can totally see just churning out a couple of human like robots to crew them being cheaper than buying a couple of thousand new robot tanks.
>>33312989
Lower cost - Lower weight - Less chance to jam - Just keep it simple
>>33312989
Mark 19 has quite a substantial weight and recoil, the robot is not very big. Plus, it is massively cheaper.
>>33312788
The chassis seems very low, a simple rock on its path and it's blocked.
>>33312788
i'm going to give a serious answer to a retarded thread.
the first could also be used for unconventional warfare
imagine being seduced by a killer robot that can quickly analyze your breathing rate, heart rate, skin flushing, and eye dilation. they would quickly know if you are lying or excited, and could use that information against you.
also there is the psychological aspect. no one gives a shit about some faggot block machine with a gun, but most men will hesitate to pull the trigger against an attractive female.

If the tech got smooth and cheap(er) I could see it's use in urban scenes. By this i mean human-sized with legs so they'll fit inside buildings, can climb stairs and ladders etc.
As for the rest of the robot I'm not sure. No reason to have a mechanical arm to hold a weapon when you could just have the weapon. But then again some sort of flexible mount for the weapon might be a good idea since it would allow for better use of cover/fire around corners and more.
The only real use there would be for "insanly human" bots would be for psycological reasons. Maybe if people would have one as part of their crew as in many sci-fi movies
>>33312812
Too impractical and expensive to mass-produce.
why not just make grenades that can roll on their own near their target?
>>33313843
Sauce on animation?
Also >>33313396 is correct, yes, but blocks of death would be cheaper to manufacture and much deadlier in the long run - put a nuke on treads and send it in.
>>33312788
>try to climb stairs or steep slope
>fail
>...?
>Profit!
Fun fact: soldier has better obstacles negotiating capabilities than Abrams tank.

Muh dick.
>>33312927
I'm definitely going to give that a read.
>>33312788
they can operate and traverse all the things humans made so that humans could easily traverse them
Stairs for example
>>33312788
Versatility really is king.
"Conventional" robot designs would eventually be considered specialised designs because at a certain point it wouldn't make sense to build almost nothing but humanoid robots.
Even if the conventional robot is significantly cheaper a sufficiently advanced humanoid robot would be cheaper in the long run because you can use it to make more humanoid robots.
Sufficiently advanced humanoid robots would essentially mimic the power of slaves. "Why design and make that complicated X to solve Y when you can just get more slaves?"

Different loads

Challenge accepted.
