Why do people bother developing LMG's that shoot over 400 RPM, doesn't have at least 150 rounds and isn't belt fed?
Literally the only point with having an LMG is so you can toss lots of bullets at an enemy long enough to cover your pals, having a slow as fuck rate of fire coupled with a large bullet count could make you into the ultimate suppressive unit.
Hell even stationary HMG's should follow this style, it is pointless to be able to shoot fast so you have to reload all the fucking time and lose ammo so much faster.

Suppression is a mathematical equation: S=R*P
Rounds multiplied by Proximity leads to Suppression.
The more shots you can put in a specific spot the more effective the suppression is.
You might think 1 shot a second isn't much a difference than 2 shots a second but it is.

What the fuck is your post trying to ask you bumbling cluster fuck? Did you mean to ask why anyone bothers to make LMGs under 400? Because a faster rate of fire, means more suppression by volume of fire so you WANT a higher rate of fire. The SAW is an outstanding LMG, as long as it's operating ok

unless you're actually diagnosed with some kind of OCD autism then you won't be counting if it is 2 bullets or 1 zooming by your head
literally one bullet is enough to suppress someone

having an 800 RPM and using it to its fullest extent means you're gonna lose that magazine double as fast as if it had an 400 RPM
saying "volume" and shit doesnt make you sound smart you yankee grease heep

Brush up on FM 3-22.68.
Such thing as rates of fire exists.
So does Machine gun math and Theory.
Both LMG's and HMG's are pointless compared to grenade launchers

What matters for a machine gun is the sustained rate of fire. In a fire-fight lasting hours if you have a good stockpile or steady resupply of ammunition, the limiting factor then becomes weapon heat management. In which case you want a significantly heavier barrel than a service rifle, as well as a quick barrel changing mechanism to rotate between them.
There's a physiological effect to being suppressed by 900 RPM sustained fire.

I think there was a study already about this and they found that 700 RPM was the ideal for a LMG.

Have you ever used an lmg or served in the military op? Have you ever asked someone who operated an lmg or hmg thier perfered method of use? They dont just hold the trigger down, its used in controlled bursts to put a lot of lead in one spot after another very quickly. You want high rate of fire to put alot of shots down in a general area because an lmg, despite its bulk and generally long barrel, is not very accurate. What you want to do is covered my a dmr role
>all machine guns in the world now have 400rpm or lower
>war happens
>soldiers storming frontlines against MG fire
>soldiers just start zig zagging towards the target
