Eternal QTDDTOT

I was wondering how I'm supposed to find the "ideal" position for my adjustible stock. I'm a manlet so I don't have any comfort problems with it all the way forward but I can go back to half way without feeling any difference in my ergonomics.

For the average shooter, will stock position affect accuracy to a meaningful amount? Or should it just be where I'm comfy?

Also, are there any low-profile rubber butt pads for the MP Sport's stock style? I live in Arizona so it's getting hot as fuark and I like to wear tank tops when I'm outside shooting and the sharp knurling left busted capillaries on my shoulder. Is there a solution other than wearing a T shirt and not caring about it?
>>
>>33265594
Grab pistol grip.
Extend stock until it reaches the crease of your elbow.
You have just found the optimal length of pull.
>>
>>33265594
where its comfy and repeatable should be your goal.

There's a gap between your two hands in the grip. Something about the angle and grooves. Close the gap up and it won't be so prone to hook left.

Depends, how rich you are.

A defibrillator would be nice.

Cocaine would also be really important.

A bunch of antibiotics

IV and solutions I guess?

Locking pliers could save a life

Hmm, a tourniquet or some rope

Clean bandages and a decompression needle.

Needle and thread

Add a scalpel and a few medical textbooks and you're a fucking doctor.

The rule of Thumb with a collapsible stock is to extend it to the crook of you elbow. For most people this the first notch from the receiver. You should also get a better stock. The basic bitch stock will work, but they rattle a lot and the sling ring likes to snag straps on your LBE. Get something streamlined that already has a pad on it.

Jewed hard, you can now build AKs with Palmetto armory kits for $480.00. You can build ARs for the same price. For what they cost now, SKS' and Mosins need to stop. You have waaaay too many better options in the same price range now to pay that much for some beater than the last 30 owners didn't take care of.

only real reason is saving the brass to reload your own. Otherwise just buy the cheap steel and aluminum. Also steel is a harder metal so probably harder on your gun, but not to any meaningful degree.

Maybe this was just bait, but people dont buy mosins out of ignorance of the price of ARs.
>>
>>33268941
Codeine would also be nice, however good luck getting any.

Cocaine works better for local numbing if you're doing any work on yourself as well as it's simply easier to get.

Be careful though, it smells really good.
>>
>>33268482
Get what you will need, take first aid classes if you don't know anything.
It could be beneficial to carry a suture kit and stuff but unless you know how to stitch shit up, it will not be used.

I carry basic shit, bandaids, alcohol wipes, gauze, poultice. I also have liquid skin.

Like I said, take a first aid class so you can put the stuff you get to use.

Does the slide lock back fine when the firearm is empty and youre just finger fucking it? If so it could be your thumb is riding the slide release when you're shooting, causing it to go home instead of locking back. Otherwise it could be a weak magazine spring. Take your mag apart and stretch the spring out some

I just got a new glock 19, my first handgun ever. I'm a pussy so the recoil is a lot for me to handle and stay on target while also remembering all the other fundamentals (shooting Speer Lawman 115gr). Is this due to the 115gr vs 147gr, or a new stiff recoil spring on the glock, or am I just a wimp and need to get used to it? Also, any other recommendations for a new glock owner?
>>
>>33273266
Glocks will take awhile to get used to the takeup in the trigger. Once you get that on point you'll do much better, practice dry firing in your room. Lawman ammo is probably a bit hotter than your standard 115 grain ammo from WInchester. Buy some of that and see how it feels, 100 round box from Wally World. If 115 still bothers you, then yes you're being a bitch.
>>
How does temperature affect ammunition? I'm relatively new to shooting, and have fired just a few 9mm brands. Today, someone recommended me Winchester, because it burns a bit cleaner, but out of 100 rounds, I had ~5-6 rounds fail to fire the first time around, 2 of which happened within the first 15 rounds. It's fairly cold out now. Just cold enough for it to be snowing. Is the temperature affecting the ammo? Did I get a bad batch? Or was I memed into getting crappy ammo?

Related question: what do I do with ammo that fails to fire the first time around? Is it safe to attempt to fire again? I feel like discarding live ammunition is unwise.
>>
>>33273310
Is your gun clean? It shouldn't be affecting the rounds. You might have a functional problem with the gun itself.
>>
>>33273266
I don't know what you know about technique, but make sure that
>your hand is as high as it can get on the grip without getting slide-bitten
>the gun is setting in the web of your hand
>the barrel make a perfect line with your forearm
>your supporting hand is pulling back on the firearm, while your dominant hand is pushing forward slightly

>Related question: what do I do with ammo that fails to fire the first time around? Is it safe to attempt to fire again? I feel like discarding live ammunition is unwise.
if its rimfire you rotate it so the firing pin hits another part of the rim. if its centerfire you can try again or just toss it. if you are getting a fuckload of light primerstrikes the ammo is the most likely culprit, then its you, as in you riding the slide so the guns not in battery or the gun itself which is fairly rare and means factory defect or old as fuck and parts need to be replaced.
wwb isnt shit but its not great either.
>>
>>33273310
Winchester ammo is great, and common for range/competition. I'm a Southern fag so I can't speak on the winter conditions, but it sounds like it's a problem with your firing system. THey are safe to fire, reload them and drive on with your frozen self
>>
>>33273310
>>33273371
Just as a total guess, if your gun isn't clean and it's cold it's very possible that the oil on it is getting a little gummed up and causing failure. That's something you have to consider when selecting motor oil for older cars, so I can only imagine it would apply to guns as well since there's much less oil and much more dirt/crud.
>>
>>33273414
this is true
your not supposed to oil firing pins for that exact reason

I've heard you aren't supposed to fire ammunition that has a pin-mark from the firing pin. But I have no idea if that's true or not.

pic related.
Hopefully someone answers this for me as well.
>>
>>33273371
It's clean. I clean it every time I go to the range. Granted, I generally don't do anything beyond a field strip. I've only taken out the housing for the extractor and firing pin once. I've got a Glock 26, not more than a year old. The ammo I've been previously shooting was American Eagle, and Remmington. I've shot ~600 rounds in total, and this is the first time this has happened. Should I take out the housing for the pin and inspect it?

>>33273377
>>33273396
Shit. I'd rather it be me than a malfunction of the gun.
>>
>>33273196
No the slide locks back fine when I'm finger fucking with it, I'll have to check my grip when I'm shooting.
>>
>>33273481
>Should I take out the housing for the pin
hell yes you should. You should do it just to do it, because it's easy and that's what makes Glocks GLocks. If it is a mechanical problem(doubtful) you can trouble shoot it and replace the part yourself for cheap. Worst case scenario you need a new firing pin spring which is cheap as fuck anon
>>
>>33273539
It's probably your right thumb parallel to the slide. It's pretty common, I do this with my GLock 35 quite often
>>
>>33273558
Cool. I'll break it open again. One last question: which parts should, which should NOT be oiled?

Tremendous thanks to all the Anons who replied. It's much appreciated.
>>
>>33273596
The only place you need oil is a single drop on each side of the slide, where the grooves are cutout to engage the lower. Put one drop on each side, and let it run down the length of the slide. Do not oil the inside of the firing pin housing, or any parts of it. I like to get up in there with a pipe cleaner or Q tip myself, which i suggest you do as well

Irons before optic. If your optic fails, you're s.o.l. there.
>>
>>33274389
how cheap is "cheap" for optics?
even a set of basic bitch magpul mbus is like $80. better things are going to be 100 for just the rear or front. as for irons just dont buy airsoft or anything of amazon thats less than the mbus new. im not saying buy mbus just that they are the minimum level of quality you want.

>>
>>33273640
Did what you said. Coming back to say I got great results. Fuck ton of grime up in the housing for the firing pin, and all up around the extractor. Lubed up the slide, and feels like a brand new gun. Possibly a dumb question, but I've been looking at some Wolff gunsprings, and I'm wondering what effect on recoil changing out the recoil spring will have. I've heard that CZ shooters often use lighter recoil springs for some reason, but wouldn't you want a heavier spring to reduce recoil? How many lbs can you mess with before you start getting reliability issues? Is ammo a concern with spring weight, and if so would common 115/124gr ammo cause problems?

Also, are there any websites where ammo manufacturers are compared? I've always noticed that some brands shoot and pattern differently than others, and I'm curious to see if some brands like PPU are really loaded hotter than say Federal, or if it's all in my head.
>>
>>33274498
fullsize cz75s have a fuckload of options for spring weight you can go as low as 11 up to 22lbs. if you are going to be shooting factory ammo just stick with whatever the stock for that gun is. with the extremes people are tailioring reloads for them. where they will run great with that bullet and probably choke with normal crap.

the most obvious difference is how hard the slide is to pull back
>>
>>33274547

Any semi-automatic with a free-floating firing pin will have a primer strike when the bolt drops as the gun cycles. There just isn't enough force to actually set off the primer. If you put a mag in your AR-15 and drop the bolt, eject the round, and look at the primer there will be a small indent in the primer.

That's .308, and those are pretty deep dimples, so if you're firing it out of your durr rifle, it's probably just a light primer strike. On one hand, nothing really tragic can come of you trying to use it again, on the other it's like 40 cents. Generally I just discard blemished or defective ammo.

>>
I bought a S&W 4506 recently and noticed that whenever I cock the hammer for the first time and pull the trigger, there's a click 2/3 of the way through the pull. If I let off the trigger and try again it goes away, and it doesn't click after an actual shot. What is it and is it something I should worry about?
Also when I shoot it, the muzzle gets dirty as fuck really quick and none of my other guns do that as much, if at all. Is that a trait of .45 or is it a problem with the gun?

I don't know what shops YOU shop at, but as far as I know, that's those white wooden or plastic or cloth mannequins. That's not what I mean at all, I mean like rubber skin-looking hands.

>theaters
Like the broadway kind? I don't exactly live near NYC or broadway, there's some theaters with plays and stuff in my nearest city; as far as I know (I don't go there particularly regularly or anything, but I've been to one or two with somebody else because they wanted to go over the last few years) they don't exactly have spare prop gift shops in the lobby.

>hobby shops
What kind of hobby shops? I get pipe cleaners and mason jars at joann fabrics because there's one 5 minutes from my house, but as far as I know they don't sell rubber hands, I've seen a few 'geek' hobby shops at local malls with dnd/wh40k/comicbook etc.. stuff and THEY don't sell rubber hands.

They say specifically NOT to use Stingers in the rifle because the extra length on the case can cause it to stick and the case to explode or some shit like that. I'm not sure .223 Rem would cut it against kangaroos, would something in 6.5mm Swiss be adequate? It seems like a very nice target round with good ballistics, while not being as heavy recoiling as .30 caliber cartridges.

Low-left usually means you're either squeezing all of your fingers in anticipation of the gunshot, you're jerking the trigger, or you're breaking your wrist down when pulling the trigger(pic related)

Keep your wrist more aligned with your forearm, and try, as carefully as you can, pulling the trigger as smoothly and carefully as you possible.

So I had my first lesson at a shooting club on Saturday. Shot 25 rounds of .22 with a revolver and 25 through a Ruger pistol that looked awfully similar to a Mark 3.

In short, I loved it. I started off quite accurate with the revolver at 25 meters, good grouping to the right of the target center, being less accurate with the pistol.

In my country I can have handguns but they have to be shot at a club. There isn't a huge selection in the gunstores. This means ordering in any handguns.

My hands aren't that big, I couldn't reach the slide release with my thumb on the Ruger. Small hands jokes aside, what handguns are the most appropriate for those with not-big hands? I always like the m9 but don't want to go wasting time ordering in potential handguns to find they aren't ergonomic. Any ideas?

While target practicing, how many shots do you usually put through a target before changing it?
>>
>>33281939
Unless you have small kids in the house, I honestly wouldn't worry about any kind of safe. It'll draw more attention than necessary. Just stick it in the bottom of a backpack or something and throw it in a closet or under a pile of clothes or something. For bonus protection, add some filler in the backpack over the gun and then put a dildo on top. If they do snoop through your stuff, they might stop once they see that. The only drawback is they might end up thinking you're gay, but your parents sound like the type that would be fine with that.
>>
>>33281944
Depends on how well I can keep track of my groupings. I usually do about 10-15 shots per target before moving on to another one, which is why I like papers with multiple targets on them.

>>
>>33282395
Why would you ask minimum voltage? Do you experience voltage drops on your supply side? If so, you really need to complain to your power company, as that's really unacceptable.

As for required amperage, you just need to check the output voltage of the welder and do some simple math. For example:

If the welder operates at 10v, and you have a 110v supply, you could run a 150A welder.

But if the welder worked at 20v, you could only use a 75A welder on a 15 amp supply circuit at 110v.

NOTE**

This is assuming you're running on a NA standard 15 Amp circuit at the NA standard household voltage of 110v. If you're using a full phase 220v circuit or a higher amp circuit you'll have to do some different calculations.

if you are actually using a gun a sling for a rifle is just as necessary as a holster for a handgun.
even if its just at the range you want to shoot with the sling on during practice since you need to learn what your sling does. if it gets in the way of reloading or the sight picture you have to change techniques to compensate.
however it sounds like your gun is a pure rangetoy so you dont need a sling if you dont want it.

I'm interested in buying one of those Russian tanker helmet things, with the built in mic and earphones. Does anyone know of any guides or if it's even possible to convert them to regular old 3.5mm jacks so they can be used today? I guess they might also need a power source, maybe they could be connected via USB or something. I really don't know much about electronics, so unless there's a guide out there detailing what to do I'll be lost. I know it's been asked on /k/ before but I don't remember if anyone had a solution.

It is my understanding that magnum cartridges have not only longer, but also thicker and stronger cases than the round they're based on. So my question is theoretically, if you were to cut the brass down to the length of the original round, could you use it to load that round as hot as a magnum, or close? Assuming the gun were strong enough and there were enough room for powder.

Sent it to a gun shop and they fixed it, replaced springs, firing pin, etc. Brought it back to the range and it still isn't ejecting. Any ideas? Could it be the ammo? Has the dimensions of the 22 hornet changed much over the last 50 years? Enough that old hardware doesn't work with current casings?

What happens if the timing is fucked on revolvers ?
If you push the cylinder into the correct position after you cocked your hammer, would it be safe to fire ?
What causes these issues ?
Could you still safely use a revolver if you regularly slammed the cylinder shut ?
If you do slam the cylinder shut, what parts would get damaged, and would they be easy to replace ?

Does anyone have both a PCR and P-01? I'm trying to decide which to buy. Does the lack of a rail on the PCR make it much better for carrying or is it roughly the same?

Does the extra weight on the front end on the p-01 help noticeably with accuracy? I don't think I'll use a the rail, but if it's a little more accurate and doesn't carry any worse I might just get the p-01.

while we're on the topic, what are their complete rifles like? I asked here one other time and someone said avoid at all costs, but all the reviews I read on the Gen2 model say otherwise. I read about the gen1 models having a few QC issues as well as being machined with tolerances too tight making them a bit more failure prone. also had parts not made in the US. apparently the Gen2 model fixes all that.

I really want an AK, but I live in a podunk town in the middle of nowhere and I don't want to take a chance I'll wind up with some beat to shit Century AK.
