I'm about to purchase my first gun this year, /k/, but I can't decide between an AR-15 (on top) and a century arms AK.
>>
>>33263621
If you're on a budget like the Century implies you will get much more for your dollar with an AR, the market is currently in the middle of a collapse.
>>
Good Century AKs:
WASR
NPAP
M70AB2
The rest of it is trash and those are only good because Century doesn't manufacture them.
If you're thinking about getting a RAS47 or C39v2, don't. They're bad guns (yes even the v2).

As it stands right now, you can get a S&W M&P15 or Ruger AR556 for right around $600 If you shop, and they're better than other budget ARs and better than an AR you'd be able to build at that price-point. IMO quality-wise they're a wash but the Ruger has a better barrel.

At this point in time, you can get an entry level AR for several hundred dollars less than an entry level AK that isn't riddled with QC issues.

No buy Century
>>
You need to read a book and fix your brain if you can't choose between a Sprigfield Saint and Century anything.

Quit buying junk rifles.

If you want an AK get Arsenal.
>>
>>33263621
>C39V2
We literally have these threads every day, do people learn nothing?
>>
>>33263687
>the market is currently in the middle of a collapse.
Wat? I believe the word you're looking for is "glut."

Also, yes OP. Get an AR. It's a buyers market right now. The prices of AK's are high right now indirectly due to sanctions against Russia.
>>
I don't care retard.

If you're a fuckin idiot and you want to waste what little cash you have on some junk ass Century AK I don't give a fuck anymore enjoy your piece of shit.

Same fuckin threads no fuckin learning just retardation.

I'm not saying go out and buy the cheapest rinky dink AR either so you Garbage AK defense force homos can fuck off.
>>
>>33263890
I'm tired, yes, I meant the prices are collapsing

I hope PSA isn't hurting too bad, thier AKs look rather promising if not in need of more R&D
>>
>>33263621
Buy the C39V2 and heft life insurance so you can leave behind a rich widow when your rifle inevitable blows up and kills you.
>>
>>33263900
>look at me and how much of a baller I am because I spent $600 for a brand name and fancy rollmark.
>>
>>33263900
Maybe you need to take a break from 4chan.
>>
>>33263621
let me bogpill you for a sec here

When you go cheap and get an AR, you generally get something functional. You can score a good AR for $400-500 nowadays and build one yourself for around the same. And then you have a good platform to work with to build an even better rifle in the future.

When you buy a cheap AK, you get an absolute piece of shit. The AK platform is great, honestly, but Century can't build a gun to save their fucking lives. Everything that they have modified a component on for import (read: any "assault rifle") will have major issues inherent to those modifications.

I think as a first gun, you should get a basic AR-15 - Anderson, Aero, PSA, S&W, find a reputable company and get their basic model - and then also purchase a .22LR conversion kit with a few magazines for it. Practice with the .22LR kit until you're comfortable with shooting and have established good habits; if you start with .223 you might develop bad habits such as flinching.

Good luck on the gun, and if you want an AK in the future, find a WASR-10 for cheap or an Arsenal SLR for not-cheap. N-PAP is also an option. Do not buy a Made in America AK; you wouldn't buy a Made in China AR-15 for the same reason.
>>
>>33263900
Wow why are you so mad that some one wants to buy a low teir ak instead of a low teir ar?
>>
>>33263900
>I don't care retard

And yet you responded with a lengthy diatribe.
>>
>>33263992
tbf, he's probably tried to save autists from buying hand grenades so many times now and dealt with the same shit

/k/ should probably have a recommended to get/to avoid sticky so normies dont need a thread

>>33263935
I hope PSA fucking dies. I've had 3 of the 4 credit cards I used there stolen. I had to cancel the 4 card preemptively.

Not OP, but I've read good things about PSA's AKs. Are they really that bad?
>>
>>33263935
American AKs will never be good because no one has a hammer forging machine to waste on AK barrels.
>>
>>33264036
Seems a bit high for a PSA.
>>
>>33263992

I got a brother who is the same way. Like if you don't spend at least 1200 plus on any firearm you're buying, he considers it to be shit tier. He also goes shooting like once a yr, has like a 3 foot grouping at 5 yards with a pistol, can't hit a target at 100 yards with his AR too.

Hey Alex, if you find this, which your fatass probably will. You're 32, move out of our parents house, faggot.

...you do realize that Century is the importer of both NPAPs and WASRs, right? And they modify those guns when they import them?
Century imports are literally fine.
Don't touch anything they manufacture

They're shit. When in doubt ask AK Operator's Union on Normiebook.

Copied from another thread:

For every 10kg of weight you can carry 33 magazines of 5.56x45mm or mere 13 magazines of 7.62x39mm.

5.56x45mm has a lot flatter trajectory than 7.62x39mm.

5.56x45mm has 3.84p of recoil while the 7.62x39mm has 5.904p of recoil therefore followup shots are a lot faster with with the 5.56x45mm.

5.56x45mm shrapnels inside the body creating huge wound channels compared to the 7.62x39mm that only tumbles creating very small found channels.

Okay so let's calm down here from the shills and bullshit, OP I pray you aren't fucking autistic.

ARs and AKs are pretty good choices for your first gun, but honestly if you like them equally, grab the AR. It has more customization and modification opportunity to make the rifle truly yours.

But.

But.

But.

If you want to get a century AK, go for it. The shills on this site haven't touched one and are relaying keyboard retardation when they all shriek at an American AK. The c39v2 has been reviewed pretty good by almost everyone who picks them up, in my opinion they're a little overpriced. The RAS47 gets a lot of shit from the internet, but the truth is that they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I've had one for almost a year now, put a little over 2000 rounds through it and I love it. However, century did just recall my rifle to get a new bolt and carrier, the new equipment I got is much better than the previous, thing feels much better now and the previous bolt deformations have not reappeared. Shills are quick to attack what they don't know, either is a good choice.
>>
>>33264141
>you can carry 33 magazines of 5.56x45mm or mere 13 magazines of 7.62x39mm

In what scenario will I need to carry that many magazines?
>>
>>33264201
This. Off the top of my head, Del-Ton Sport is like $400 (with two mags!), Smith and Wesson M&P-15 Sport II is $500, Ruger AR-556 is $480. They'll be much, much better than any $400-$500 AK.
>>
>>33264236
The RAS is a piece of shit no arguing otherwise
If you are going to get a Century AK get a WASR.

either spend the 800-1000 on a good rifle (arsenal for aks, I don't know about high end ARs) or get a wasr and entry level ar of your choice

I'd say get one of each, decide which you like more, then sell the other and put it towards a good rifle. I decided I like AKs, I sold my AR towards an arsenal in 5.45 and I kept the wasr.
>>
>>33264236
did Taurus fire you for being too obvious? i guess Century needed a new shill.

No. Not out the door. Shipping is free, and ayy lmao if you live in a state that collects sales tax on online purchases. Transfer for me is $15 so call it $495 out the door.

>>33263621
dollar for dollar, even the worst, out-of-spec AR-15 manufactured in the united states is a better rifle than any of the AKM/AK-74s you can get in the united states

until you spend about $2000 to get a handmade AK that's done right, at which point, you've got something better than maybe half the AR's you're looking at.
>>
>>33264497
For an AK that isn't full retard it's fucking pointless and by the time you shoot one out you'll have gone through two trunnions requiring a complete rebuild.

They're nice to have but it's tertiary to good internals and solid rivets.
>>
>>33263621
I'd only buy AKs that Century imports. The ones they build themselves are crap. The AKs that Century imports that are usually GTG are the Romanian WASR and Serbian PAP rifles.

You better make an effort to shoot, or at minimum hold each and figure out what you like before you drop money.
You can always have both later, but make sure you make the right choice.
I think 762x39 is a lot more fun to shoot, and slavshit just feels better and I have more pride in it than any AR I've shot. AR's are nice as hell, but just too nice and gentle feeling for my liking. I feel like they make better paper punchers than actual fun guns.
>webm isn't an ak, but just making my point about 762 fun
>>
The C39V2s problems are over exaggerated. I'd recommend the WASR instead but it's not as horrible as people make it out to be.
>>
>>33264543

>>33263981
Not entirely true, on the Serbian and Romanian AKs they import now, they know how to fix the magwell without catastrophic wobble. The rifles aren't made by them, they only do minor machining and swap out some parts for 922r, a Zastava will be fine, as long as it's from this decade. A WASR will be acceptable, but they've crept up in price over time to the point that they're not really worth the money right now (while the WASR of today isn't the hopeless shitbox of the 2000's, I sometimes see them listed for $700, much too high for what you get)

Absolutely avoid the RAS47 though, it's a handbomb.
>>
>>33263621
decent AKs start at $800
decent ARs start at $400
>>
>>33263781
a WASR costs the same as an entry AR and is great

You guys talk a lot of shit about century not being able to make a good ak, my gp1975 works good and has no problems at all.

Sadly op century stopped makin these me when I first bought it was $450 in late 2013

Honestly in this day an age the only good aks cost over $600 and in my opinion no ak should be worth more then $400 .

Your honestly better of just buying an ar15.

Windham MPC is best budget with best finish better then rugers or m&p. And better then colts name brand bullshit.

Pic related my gp1975 with refinished balkan war wood set. I used sandpaper to remove parkrize from bolt carrier..
