You went into one of the most anti-gun counties in NC, and they issued you a Pistol Purchase Permit for $5?

I think you got a trainee that day because I've never heard of any county issuing at <21 unless laws recently changed.

And yes, North Carolina's pistol permit is complete horseshit. Until recently the Sheriff could arbitrarily say you do not meet the "moral standards" and deny you a permit like that. Was originally a way to stop blacks from owning pistols when Demokkkrats implemented it. Also the Sheriff can set a number of permits to be issued per day/week/year on their time frame to literally do a NICS check.
