Assuming this means republican and democrat VOTERS and not just Representatives are part of this change:

Republicans would play up the gun control to stop crime angle a lot more. Let's be honest that you'd have had a lot more pushes for gun control based on fear of niggers and brownies getting guns because that is literally what the Reagan Republicans were doing. Republicans would latch onto anti-gun cops.

Democrats would play up more of the whole "gun rights deprived to minorities in the past" both in the US and abroad by the brits or french in the colonies. Also more of that Orson Welles(?) thing about the rifle on the wall of the citizen being what keeps away right-wing tyranny and fascism. Almost no fuddism, instead might be more CCW orientation with female voting block. Might invoke the narrative of cops being allowed guns because they are white/the man/establishment and blacks/browns being denied it because of their race.

In this bizarre world you would see rural and suburban areas along with a general majority on the federal level being anti-gun but certain states and urban centers being bastions of gun rights (california, Chicago, NYC, ect).

It's hard to imagine the rural areas being 100% anti gun so I would think instead Republicans would become the hypermegafudd party. Anything other than revolvers, bolt action and shotguns are 110% illegal. Even revolvers would have a very onerous and strict policy (Think Cali level) as would pump or semi auto shottie. Break action would be the cheapest and most accessible but probably be a may issue affair of the local sheriff.

Cities would be anti-fudd and largely favor handguns and CCWs but be indifferent to long arms.
But this is a bizarro world that wouldn't happen.
