I wouldn't want to carry one around because I'm a pussy and just the gun, ammo, and armor is heavy enough for my tastes but if Weeaboo Jones does I have literally no issue with that.

I've seen plenty of weeaboos (and LARPers) think that they could use swords for home defence and on those cases they are correct.

My bet is that if you're armed with a sword and thereby have more reach you effectively 'reduce' the distance between you and the guy you're trying to attack so instead of 21 feet being a safe distance away it would be closer to 24 feet.

The 21 foot thing is silly. If you get stabbed once or several times you can survive. So you could still pull your gun shoot at extremely close range. Then Again if you get your arm cut off or maybe partial cut off that would stop you.
