>>
>>33223440
Kicking the mag out quickly in order to get a new one in when is probably the fastest way to reload these. The "tactical" reload method is another one i like where you beer can grip the new mag in the middle of the body, using your thumb to release the old mag and grab it as well, rocking the charged mag in and sliding your hand off the fresh mag while still grasping the old mag to dump in a pouch is also good but still slower by a few precious seconds. I'd use that method if it was dark or wet or something and I wouldn't be able to find or come back to retrieve the mag later.

>>33223559
It is what it is, its one of the fastest method for me.
>>
>>33223582
It's technically the fastest but I've found it's not consistent enough for my liking and it's not really noticeably faster than the way I do it now

When I'm doing it I just bring my hand back to the empty, hit the mag release and let it drop, then grab my new mag and rock it in. It's all still one fluid motion and you don't have to dick around figuring out how to get to the mag release with a full hand

Stahp wearing my pants.
>>
>>33223641
I think it just depends how much you practice, I use that method sometimes but it's slower for me. I think most people fuck up the kick out method by trying to hit the release lever with a vertical held mag. There is more surface area to use on the front part of a horizontally held mag and using a forceful "slicing" motion to remove the old mag. But yeah, whatever works best for you.

Yea, just a combo of excitement, anxiety, and too many thoughts

You just gotta work through it dude, go up, shoot, have fun. Hell OKSS didn't even score really, they told you the time and how many noshoot targets you hit and how many you missed then you move on
>>
>>33223967
I don't care about the scores though, has more to do with the anticipation and eyes on me. It's an irrational thing.
>>
>>33224028
The secret is that everyone there is equally shitty

I was literally the fastest rifle shooter there that I saw today and there was only one rifle stage I didn't ace. Most everyone else I saw had ARs with 3x the cost that I put into my AK, one dude even had a suppressed SBR and he shot a round every few seconds. Everyone else is just there to have fun too. Don't even worry about it

/arg/ has a pretty wide spread of handguns though

There is no other sub $600 handgun that will come completely devoid of tooling marks with an industry standard finish and barrel. Glock is the yardstick.
>>
>>33223833
My first stage was nerve wrecking just go out there be safe and have fun anon. The first one is always the worst. Also bring a friend too it'll ease the anxiety.
>>
>>33224873
I unironically hate glocks

They shoot flat but every one I've ever tried the grip just feels like shit in my hand
>>
>>33224893
Once I become acclimated I can start having fun.

>>33224918
Obviously the fashion accessory statement is hyperbole, but even if you dislike glocks for whatever reason, they are still much higher quality than people give them credit for.
>>
>>33224873
My problem with Glock is they feel like shit in the hand and every one but one I've shot had a shitty feeling trigger. It being ugly as fuck is admittedly another reason, but I could live with an ugly gun if it shot well and felt comfortable.

Next gen is supposed to be finger groove free.
The grooves fit my hands fine, but I've yet to hold a handgun that was uncomfortable.

Honestly, FNS-9 is an awesome pistol and feels and shoots better than Glock 17, for me at least. Pretty much same dimensions as Glock as well.
>>
>>33224985
Lol """"inovation"""" from (((glock))))
>>
>>33224985
I like this length, but putting the G26 style bevel on the front kills it for me. Also I look down on people who use the enhanced slide catch, and now I guess it's standard. Never took issue with the finger grooves myself.

>>
>>33225170
MW2 was quite literally the first proper PC game I ever played. I was too young to understand it at the time.

Fast forward to 2004 or so and I asked my mom for MechAssault on the original Xbox. She got it mixed up with MechWarrior 4 on PC and got me both Vengeance and Black Knight, which then led me to MW4 Mercs and MW3, then back to MW2. Shortly after I ended up wasting my high school years in and out of any comic book store that had active MW/BT players until I was the last fan standing.

I still love the franchise, but dealing with Piranha and the NGNG shills in the MWO userbase has turned me off on dealing with the BT community as a whole for good. I fucking hate like 95% of those people.

At least HBS' BattleTech game is going to be singleplayer. I won't get to fuck around with Stormcrows or Shadow Cats in it, but it has Hunchbacks and Centurions, so good enough.

This isn't the next generation, this was the model that was built for the army handgun contract, among other contracts. They probably won't release it but if they do it will probably be in the same vein as their ported models and just be a variant of the glock 19 and not a new generation unto itself
>>
>>33225927
Carbine is a class of rifle, SBR and rifle "pistols" are legal definitions. Most carbines would be considered an SBR without a pinned and welded muzzle device that brought it to legal length
>>
>>33225927
A carbine is just a shortened rifle.
Like how a 20" M44 is a carbine in relation to a 28" 91/30

Likewise, an 20" M16 is a rifle and a 14.5" M4 is a carbine.

SBR is legal term for rifles with barrrels under 16"

Pistol is gun designed to be shot one handed. Hence why you can't put a vertical grip on a pistol nor can you "shoulder" it.
>>
>>33226610
>Pistol is gun designed to be shot one handed.
Nigga what? If you shoot pistols with one hand you're hecking dumb
>>
>>33226570
>This isn't the next generation
Didn't say it was.
It is likely that some, if not all, the features of the M variant will be in the Gen 5 though.
I'd personally like to see it grooveless without the beveled slide, and I have no issue with the finger grooves.
>and for Glock to bring back the old finish
>>
>>33226625
>Didn't say it was
Well that was exceptionally badly worded then, friend.

I just picked up a glock 43 and I love it, I haven't been able to stand other glocks because of the grip size and finger grooves, I'd swoop on a 19 with the gen4 backstraps and no finger grooves
>>
>>33226621
Tell that to the ATF. That's seriously their reasoning for not allowing vertical fore grips.
Yet AFGs are fine cause reasons?

You also got to take into account that shooting with 2 hands on a pistol is relatively new. Look at any western or WW2 movie. Everyone shot 1 handed.
>>
>>33226635
You can hold any pistol with two hands dude, I have no idea what you're even going on about. And two handed pistol shooting has been a thing since pistols were invented, it's common fucking sense. What you're describing is hollywood bullshit

You're not understanding anything I'm saying.
Legally, pistols were intended to be shot 1 handed and this is the reason you can't put a VFG on a pistol.
And the US military used to teach 1 handed pistol shooting. I'm not saying 2 handed shooting was never a thing. But it wasn't common. Nor were pistols for that matter. They were highly considered a criminal's gun if not in the hands of a cop.

Is Gorka a meme?

I'm considering buying a Gorka suit but I'm not sure if I should bother. I know they're not waterproof, but more like water resistant, and I'm OK with that.
I own land, about 150 acres of wooded property, with a cabin on it. I go there with friends and family and hunt, camp, shoot, hang out, cut down trees, etc so it's not like I'd be buying this Gorka suit to play STALKER dress up and take pictures. I would actually use it.

I am having an '83 Izzy built right now by Meridian Ordnance. I pulled out ALL the stops for this build wherever possible.

The '83 kit itself cost me $650 from RGuns (in 2014). The Arsenal Bulgy barrel I bought was another $250, plus $20 for a US-made gas piston (builders with FFLs do care about 922r). 74u LLC was commissioned to make a receiver for me, which took 2 years to finish and ran me another $225 or so. A DFW Collector's Source RMP-3 optics mount was also bought for $58 for a period-accurate mount. And, because I can't leave well enough alone and wanted a triangle folder, I shelled out another $175 for a Izzy triangle back before the market was flooded with them, $120 for the appropriate 4.5mm folding rear trunnion, and $40 for the hardware that trunnion requires. Then another $10 for a folder rivet set from K-VAR.

Running total for parts at that point was $1550 or so after shipping and whatever discounts I could manage to scrounge up, plus a couple of minor parts I needed to replace (the kit grip screw and T-nut were damaged) and tax on the receiver. Factor in another $30 for an '83-stamped sling and we're at $1580. Build services from the builders I got quotes from (Meridian, JBI, and a couple of others because I couldn't complete the Jedi quest to find Ted Marshall) ran about $650 on average for kit demill, barrel population, assembly, receiver refinish, and test fire. Meridian has had my kit since mid-October and told me last week they expect another 4-6 weeks to finish the build due to election-year backlogs. My current total for this build is $2185ish, not including my FFL fees, the 25-30 mags I've slowly accumulated over the last year, or my bayonet(s). It will have been 3 years since I first went "I want an Afghan-style -74" in April. Good luck, buddy, because you'll need it.

Oh, and Rguns doesn't have those parts kits anymore; expect to pay double what I paid for one unless you get lucky and stumble onto one on the Files.
>>
>>33228003

>builders with FFLs do care about 922r

Can't you make parts count with easily swapped components? Like the way arsenal ships their rifles so that you can easily remove every US made part once it gets to you.
>>
>>33228039
not him, but I would think so. every 922r part on my WASR was easy to take off and swap out.
I now have ZERO 922r parts on my WASR. feels good.
>>
>>33228039
You can, but on a build like this you'll be hard-pressed to find corners to cut, especially if you give it the combloc barrel it deserves. My US-made parts right now are the receiver (1), piston (1), FCG (3), and either magazine followers or floorplates depending on what I had handy (1).

The only other readily available items that can be replaced are the handguards, stock (mine's a folder so that's out), pistol grip, and muzzle device. I'm not too keen on buying throwaways for any of those, so I just said "fuck it" and went full compliance with mag floorplates and followers because nobody really cares about those nearly as much and they're good spares to have handy anyway.

You could have had your builder install the rear trunnion and had it built as a pistol, then install your stock yourself.

He wouldn't have to worry about 922r, and since the pistol would already have a 16" barrel, you could install the stock yourself with no issues.
>>
>>33228177
Doesn't matter at this point; what's done is done. My gun is being built 922r compliant and it's not exactly hurting me to have it that way since it's all stuff you don't see anyway.
>>
>>33228177
>He wouldn't have to worry about 922r

is 922r not applicable to AK pistols? not that guy btw.
>>
https://youtu.be/-QkYpkF4Fy4
>>
>>33228202
No, that's why you can get stuff like M92s and Scorpion EVOs and Sig 553Ps 100% built by the factory.

If I was a builder I would just send it back without the handguard or buttstock installed or something. The end user can make it non-compliant, who cares. As long as I'm not sending it to the customer in a non-compliant state what does it matter.
>>
>>33228202
922r doesn't apply to pistols in general. It's why CZ had Scorpion Evos brought over in pistol configs first, then later started doing carbines once CZ USA was churning out enough US-made stocks, followers, and floorplates.

Yep, it would. The thing to watch out for is that whole "once a rifle, always a rifle" thing, so you can't do something like, say, build an AR pistol with a 16" barrel, make it a rifle by adding a stock, then make it a pistol again by taking the stock off and putting a 10" upper on it, as you'd then (in the eyes of the ATF) just have an unregistered SBR without a stock.

NFA laws are fucking retarded.

Is there a draco or pap styled pistol in 5.45x39?

No.
>>
>>33230599
not commercially
>>
>>33230599
No, because the moment anyone does that, any chance of seeing 7n6 come back disappears for good.
>>
>>33230599
No, there are no factory 5.45 pistols in the US market. If there were then 7n6 would have been banned a long time before it was banned, and even now after the ban there's such a small market for 5.45 pistols that I doubt anyone will do it

>7n6 being banned because of a pistol
What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>33230656
Armor-piercing handgun ammunition is banned from import in the United States. M855 exists by special permission, and Olympic Arms got Chinese steel core 7.62x39 banned when they made a pistol AR in 7.62.

ATF used the pretense of a one-off Polish 5.45 AK pistol to ban 7n6 since it has a mild steel core that they decided to classify as "light armor piercing." You'd know this if you had paid any attention whatsoever to the legal fight that ensued when 7n6 was banned, you fucking retard.

Respect the hustle don't, it will continue =)

7n6 was banned from import because of ATF rules about armor-piercing pistol ammunition. All because some sperg made an AKS-74u pistol. A fucking one-off prototype got dirt-cheap 5.45 banned.
ATF tried to do the same thing with m855 when AR pistols became popular but the NRA REEEEEEEd and they backed down.
Because the NRA is a domestic arms manufacturer lobby group and doesn't actually give a shit about your rights if you shoot non-domestic firearms.

The NRA would back an AWB right now if it meant a 10% bump in Ruger's bottom line.
They don't give a fuck about you or your gun rights.

Did the NRA do anything at all to try to stop the 7n6 ban? I mean, did they even lift one tiny little finger, so to speak?

Kind of. But nothing like the way they mobilized over M855
The difference being that the companies that back the NRA make a lot of money producing M855 and the guns that shoot it.

Seriously if the difference in NRA response between 7n6 and m855 being banned doesn't show you that the NRA doesn't care about the gun, they care about who made it, then you're not very bright

So is the general consensus that 922r is a meme and should be ignored?

I'm new to this, but I just bought a "not imported" ak that would look totally sweet with some Russian wood.

Just got word that my XM177E2 finally shipped, it'll be here Thursday. My A1 kit finally shipped too, that'll be here Monday and the case of GT I ordered will come tomorrow. It's a shame my power steering pump broke or else I'd probably keep buying shit

I need to upgrade my Saiga gas tube to a Russian UHG. Where is the best place to get them? I found one for 50 at Legion. I was thinking about getting the 'cheese grater' UHG from Khyber too. I already replaced the lower handguard with an Ultmiak Trirail. I really don't want to replace it but is it gong to look really bad?

Pic related is the Ultimak Trirail with a UHG. Looking for opinions here, not shitposting.
