I just got a flare gun from my aunt, apparently it was her dad's.

Lime gatorade powder is not a protective, anti-corrosion coating.

No idea on the model, but it looks like it would take a standard flare. Walmart has them. They'll be in the aisle with all the emergency kit stuff, maybe the outdoors section.

it is an LP42 it fires 26.5mm flares and you can either order them online or find them at gun shows.

Those are for 12 gauge flare adapters not shotgun shells.
Kennesaw Cannon company and a few others do make .410/45 colt adaptors for 26.5mm flare guns though. They're nothing amazing but if you have a 26.5mm it doesn't hurt to have one.
