I have a little Bersa Thunder (pretty near a straight copy with minor improvements) and it's my favorite hideaway. For me anything smaller is just too difficult to be accurate with.

Obviously you have to expect a compromise though. Not a lot of firepower compared to a full size 9mm.

a 1911, much like a ppk is a niche pistol. Are you looking to fill a niche for a single stack SAO .45, or a .32 steel framed DAO pistol? Then its a good choice. If youre not looking for that, or just looking for a basic gun to start with, there are better choices

S&W PPK owner here. Early examples had reliability issues, these problems were fixed long ago. They were improved after 07 to better feed hollow points. I have carried one for 4 years and have never had issues. I use Federal HST for my carry load and they shoot reliably. Don't be discouraged to buy a new/newer S &W.
