hey /k/,

im a total noob with weapons and dont know anything about fighting. i just wanted to ask you guys what you think of the john wick movies. i like that focus on raw action and to me the handling and depiction of weapons seems more "realistic" than in other movies. but ive been really courious, can you answer me the questions:

1. Do you think that weapon-/fist-fightingstyle with funky gun tricks is really effective or just made to look slick?

2. do you like the focus on the weapons?

3. whats with that thing of not holding the pistol not straight in front of your face but tilted, like half-ghetto-style? is that any good or just stupid?

3.b) did you shake your head when john wick does this one handed chamber checking trick in the museum? looks a bit over the top to me

i know this isnt /tv/ but i thought that you guys might be a bit more enthusiastic and sound about those topics
>>
i don't watch movies, or tv.

1. equilibrium-style gun tricks are not feasible
2. gunshots are cgi in this movie. it's bad practice for gun-focused movies.
3. unless you're really skilled with your gun, it's bad idea. Some people get really good with their gun however, so they can hit targets from any arm/wrist angles, so within movie it probably makes sense: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gWaBimM0Us
>>
i only watch artsy shit that focuses on set design and camerawork

>1. Do you think that weapon-/fist-fightingstyle with funky gun tricks is really effective or just made to look slick?
No, its literally just for looks. His shooting is practical, as its literally just 3-gun, but willingly opting for hand to hand is asking to get your ass kicked especially if you have a lighter thinner frame like Reeves does.
>2. do you like the focus on the weapons?
Yes
>3. whats with that thing of not holding the pistol not straight in front of your face but tilted, like half-ghetto-style? is that any good or just stupid?
Center axis relock. Its specifically and exclusively for very tight quarters and while it works, its still p gimmicky.
>3.b) did you shake your head when john wick does this one handed chamber checking trick in the museum? looks a bit over the top to me
Not really. I mean, everything about the JW movies is OTT and that is a real way to check.

>1. Do you think that weapon-/fist-fightingstyle with funky gun tricks is really effective or just made to look slick?
Over-the-top for the sake of making an exciting movie. The judo was breddy gud on it's own, though.

>2. do you like the focus on the weapons?
The gun porn in these movies is excellent. Personally, I am not a fan of the Salient/Taran riced out glocks, but it was nice to see real guns.

>3. whats with that thing of not holding the pistol not straight in front of your face but tilted, like half-ghetto-style? is that any good or just stupid?
Center Axis Relock. Look it up.

>3.b) did you shake your head when john wick does this one handed chamber checking trick in the museum? looks a bit over the top to me
I didn't realize it was a press check until someone pointed it out after the movie.

The only thing that kind of irked me was the silenced pistol walking battle in the subway area. At the same time, it was hilarious and helped give the audience a breather during the very long fightscene.

yeah, in found those crowd-scenes in general were really weird. nobody giving a damn when he stabs those two guys in front of the train and shooting blindly in a fountain with 1000 people running around
>>
Why does he chamber check so much? Would you actually do this in a real situation? It seems kind of OCD to me
>>
Everybody in these movies.
All of them.
ARE DEAF.

3. Center axis relock, so you have better control on you gun, you might have notice in some scenes where an idiot walks past a corner with his gun outstretched and it gets knocked away, CAR can help prevent this.

only if you are using other people's gun and you have no idea how many bullets they have shot
