It may not seem like a lot but I just bought this firearm today. I've always wanted a gun but I never got my time or my shit together.

Post your first gun that you bought for yourself with your own money.

It feels really good guys.
>>
Looks about right, you got the cheapest plastic tacticool rifle they had on the shelf and did next to zero research on it.

Congrats on your first gun, OP.
>>
M1D Garand
>>
Would a Spanish Mauser be good for my first gun? I'm fairly interested in milsurp rifles and I don't feel like forking over 1000+ for an authentic kar98
>>
>>33175129
Get a yugo m48
>>
>>33175129
The main issue would be ammo for it, especially if you get it in 7mm Mauser. I'd suggest a .22 as your first rifle, they're cheap and fun to shoot.

Though if you appreciate history I'd say go for it, not many people remember the Spanish Civil War or how those rifles being used against the US convinced us to go to the Springfield 1903.

I did research and this was the firearm that I wanted. Are you mad that it's better than yours?

Mosin 91/30 was the first I spent money on but was too young to buy

After I turned 18 I got a Yugo SKS tho
>>
>>33175012
Is that a first import Vepr in 7.62x39 with a 16" barrel? How much? You did really damn good actually.
>>
>>33175012
>>33175045

If that's an already converted VEPR then he bought one of the best AKs he could have. Shut the fuck up.

Just needs to get some actual furniture on it.

Vepr that is, I don't know why I feel like typing four letter words as acronyms.
>>
>>33175045
Thats actually a robinson arms vepr. They were imported in the early 2000s. Like the current veprs, theyre very nice quality, albeit a little heavier with its thicker recievers. The plastic "tacticool" furniture you mentioned actually goes for around $400 for the stock and forearm. The high price is due to the fact that theyre no longer in production and as we all know, price does not dictate quality. My point is, youre wrong
>>
>>33175258
>>33175290
It's is a VEPR 7.62x39 with a reinforced rpk receiver.

That guy is just talking shit because his first firearm was shitty. I feel amazing about my purchase and is no doubt on the best AKs I can afford rn.

To my knowledge all Veprs have the reinforced RPK-type receiver. I own an M70AB2 with a similar receiver, which is also an underfolder and still probably heavier than your rifle if you can imagine due to a thicker barrel and larger wood furniture. But yes, you did good.

I've always wanted a converted 7.62x39 vepr so I could do pic related to it. An ACE folding stock, stock wooden handguard, and the wooden thumbhole stock cut down and converted into a conventional pistol grip.

My first firearm purchase was a DDM4V5LW. I can't imagine why someone would think people wouldn't do research in this day and age before they spent hundreds of dollars on something.
>>
>>33175374
I appreciate your kind words and reinforcement. I know that I did good because of how it feels when I hold it. Just feels right.

That's a really beautiful gun and I hope I can do something as amazing as that to mine.
>>
bought a mosin as my first gun and had to hide it in my matress so my rents didnt find it. then i got a 22. bought 25 plus guns since then in about 5 years
>>
>>33175012

>>
>>33175513

>>33175474

I really should find time and money to fiddle with my 10/22 so I'd be excited to shoot it again.
>>
>>33175513

To put it more eloquently than anon here, they're ok range mags but I wouldn't bother buying any more of them or using them for anything "serious".

Any Eastern European steel mags work fine. I'd personally recommend Yugoslavian bolt hold open mags, I think there's also Croatian ones that are good. They'll hold the bolt open on an empty follower. It lowers when you remove the magazine but it's still good to know when you're out of ammo. It also keeps the trigger set and hammer back and makes racking with one hand easier after you insert the next magazine. Stay away from korean magazines.

Should be noted that if you ever buy an AR-15, Magpul's AR PMAGs are good to go and a recommended buy. Their AK mags just lack necessary reinforcements.

For some reason most people consider them to have dropped the ball on most of their AK stuff. I'd probably only recommend their AK moe pistol grip as far as the furniture is concerned.
>>
>>33175045
It's literally the best AK variant you can buy you faggot.
