Civilian training courses are garbage and a waste of money. Military or bust.

By what logic? Anyone of able body and mind in a free country can join at 18 anyways. If anything conscription is worse because you didn't choose the higher path, it was forced upon you.

This is completely true, especially so for closed sights. Good for marksmanship, bad for combat.
